Go-to Convenient Portable Meals

My problem with the pre made ones that we have here is that they’re only like 60% actual fish, with lots of added ingredients.

That’s why I’d rather make my own and know what’s in there. Also the pre made ones are low in protein and pretty high in fats and carbs (the latter not necessarily being a problem per se).

It wasn’t only yours, buddy. Meadows actually said in his video, “I like to keep the bones in. More minerals.”

Yep, it’s all of them, as well as some canned sardines. It’s an excellent, digestible/bioavailable source of calcium.

On the topic of canned fish and convenient meals, one o my go-to lunches when in law school was a can of kipper snacks, one matzoh cracker, and an orange. The kipper snacks (smoked white fish) provided around 20 grams of protein, the matzoh was 150-ish calories of wheat, water, and salt, and the orange was refreshing while neutralizing the fish scent.

My source of protein this week came from 3 whole cooked chickens from Publix. It’s quite convenient and gets portable if you throw it in a Tupperware bowl.
I can’t make myself eat canned fish.

Critical!

Good point. These are readily available and really cheap almost everywhere

Yep, $7 a piece and already seasoned. Perdue has a chicken in a bag that you cook yourself, it’s like $13 but like 10-12lbs!!! And soooo damn joozy

Where I live they are $7 a piece and not worth a shit…lol

But you just walk out back and strangle one yourself

I honestly don’t mind the bones in sardines, since they’re so small. If you put sardines on crackers or rice cakes (highly recommended) you don’t even notice it. The problem for me is that the salmon bones are way larger and thus more noticeable

Also I’ve gotta add that, in my opinion, canned mackerel is by far the best canned fish. It’s got a really nice flavour (similar to sardines) but it’s very meaty, and fatty enough to still be juicy

I’d never thought of rice cakes, thanks for the suggestion! You’re right, the bones in sardines are much less pronounced than salmon.

It’s cauliflower instead of noodles, but still a creamy cheese with panko crumbs. I’m eating far less of this than usual these days just because I’m severely limiting my cheese intake, but this takes 15 minutes to microwave and makes a HUGE serving of veggies and fats with a decent amount of protein.

Made it last night and put it on top of my double salmon burger in place of a slice of cheese. I also used the keto friendly buns from Costco (10g of protein per bun with no netcarbs: just crazy), and a little bit of sauerkraut on top as well. Very satiating.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and if you want to keep things easy and convenient, one of my favorite things to do with the cauliflower is combine it with leftover ground beef/taco meat to make a slightly better for me “hamburger helper”.

Cottage cheese with peanut butter. Don’t mix the peanut butter in, just add a spoonful on top and voila.

Works well with yoghurt as well.

Why so? Too many fats?
