Unless your results from all of this ‘intensity’ also pass all of those people up, I am sure no one else is all that impressed.
Exactly there are 150 pound guys that hit the gym everyday “intensely” and look the same year after year. Some people think that overt insane amount of work will always reward you, your body can only take so much, no matter how many times you scream.
I agree with Derek I never really understood Go Heavy Fool’s appeal. I think most people out there are either alpha or beta. Of course far more betas and whenever they are around a dominating personality no matter how many undertones of fakeness are they will nuthug. “Oh but his advice is good!” People attach to guys like that nuts and hug them tight. Think of the douche-bag “athlete” in highschool who would usually have his posse of skinny dorks protesting how bad ass “Billy” is and how they hang with him. That reminds me of a few guys on here who train, who are always looking for the next biblical installment from some forum guru or even a T-Nation writer, who will switch everything they are doing based on a post or an article.
How is Go Heavy Fool’s advice so good? He first started out here by talking about the power of the mind and the fact that anything you believe you can make happen, and to use your internal mental force to craft your body…anyone with that stance is usually a ego-maniac caught in delusion.
It’s not hard to present yourself as a guy in the weight lifting game for 10 years and to use all of the common tag lines of hardwork, while attesting to being “just an average guy.”

According to your stats, you are 6’1" and 175 pounds; and you’ve been training for 20 years. I doubt you’re working out “intensely.”
I’m sure he’s probably working out. You don’t get the kind of information that guy had and not use it. Go heavy was wicked smart, but he was condescending as hell and he knew it. That was the genius behind him. He could actually insult you without insulting you. I never saw him flame anyone, only return the flames with a training tip or slice into their particular weakness.
What kind of information? I am sorry but if he’s just an “average guy”, anyone of moderate intelligence can read T-Nation gain a bit of knowledge and within 6 months of lifting they should have a decent amount of knowledge of bodybuilding. Let’s not try to overcomplicate things.
Then why doesn’t everyone look good? People’s biggest obstical is usually themselves whether its being a fat ass or cutting at 100 pounds.
So what the hell is Go Heavy Fool going to say which will blow anyone’s mind? Use a Swiss ball? The general knowledge is out there, no need for the rampant hero worshipping of a convenient picture of just a cropped out arm.
You guys just aren’t capable of tapping into that training area–the pain zone!
You can’t get results without traing in the zone and so few are capable of getting there.
And don’t forget about isolation stress.
This site wasn’t suppose to be for the average lifter. INTENSITY!!!
Alright, so GHF being a total jack-off is now a general concensus?
Now I’m curious as to what his “magical” training information was all about. What was it?
If he’s got “followers” on this site, I’d like to hear from them to answer the question above.
The comment about Alpha’s and Beta’s was sharp. I like to think of myself as an Alpha (don’t we all). With a mere cursory glance, one can see that there is really a shitload of sheeple on this site. Don’t get me wrong, there are quite a few Alpha’s here (even within this thread).
Is it just me or does anyone else here find themselves running in the other direction when they see a trend starting? Whether it’s a “new” training style, clothing, hairstyle etc.
I feel like I’m always saying things like “I was into (whatever) when (whatever) wasn’t cool”.
I know I’m off on a tangent here but it must SUCK to find yourself being led around in life be it from popular culture, politics, or even the lowly GHF.
I love being the Beta male. The Beta male is the one who’s constantly working to get to the Alpha male.
He’s the only one who can challenge the Alpha male. He’s the only one who can put fear into the heart of the Alpha male, making the Alpha male look over his shoulder at all times.
He keeps the Alpha male sharp and always just one mistake from losing his position to the Beta male.
The Beta male is still hungry to fight for the thrown of the Alpha male…

Oh, sorry, I got side tracked with my last post.
Yes, I too noticed this about him early on and wondered why more people didn’t see it in him.
He had me going a while back though, but he’d slip up every so often with an “out there” post that made him look ridiculous, but would come back with some more decent posts.
I was wondering if people were seeing what I was when I got into a couple big arguments with him, especially when he’d constantly call people out about posting pictures (as if that’s supposed to prove anything), and he never posted any.
As soon as I turned it around on him, he would say anything to avoid posting a pic, like “why do you want to see me without a shirt, are you gay?”, or “You’re not even a challenge to me yet. Post a pic that is better than mine and then I’ll post one, but until then you’ll get nothing from me” or something along those lines.

That’s an interesting take. I always thought of Alpha as LEADER and Beta as FOLLOWER.

derek
his followers were the same type who followed Jim jones down the Kool-Aid path…
I mean, was it that hard to see he really had nothing of substance to say. He followed more people trying to lead. He was the classic teenage rebel–trying to fit in.
He would try to say soft cuddly things to the women on board. He tried to set up alliances with those he believed to be in favor here. He belittled anyone with any different type of training approach than that he was preaching. He was his own dichotomy. One minute his wife was his reason for living, the next a way to satisy his hormonal urges.
I can’t believe anyone fell for one thing he put pen to paper on in his entire posting history.

GHF is not an Alpha Male. He just tries to play one on the internet. He is very insecure.

Not for the last 6 years. Two debilitating injuries knocked out my training. I dropped to a low of 156 and have been slowly coming back, but still can’t train the way I’d like.

He really when off the hook when I poked him in that thread about being insecure & alone. I was pretty happy when you finaly shut him up by caling him out on being gay. Good work. I didn’t have the patience to dick around him over the interweb.
GHF will go sulk somewhere for a week or two and then come back with a new name and a new demeanor.
That will last a few months and then his psychosis will take over his ego and he will start denigrating people again.
This will happen again and again and , I am 100% sure, has happened several times in the past. When he gets a reality check by the whole forum, his psychosis goes dormant. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stay dormant. It always arises just like it did with the BTK killer in Wichita. (No, I am not saying GHF is a psychotic killer). It is always on simmer. Someday he probably will have a complete schizophrenic break. Perhaps at that point he will be put on the medication he needs.
Until then he will breeze along doing 96 sets of triceps cable kickbacks in his quest for those 21" guns.
