I suppose it different locations of GNC may follow different procedures; certainly franchise stores operate differently than corporate stores.
But yes, the most likely reason he was trying to sell you that was he makes substantially more money selling that than selling HOT-ROX. I can’t remember if there is even any commission at all on HOT-ROX. If Biotest offered a substantial PM (promotional money/commission) to sell HOT-ROX, it would get sold.
When you’re getting paid peanuts, commission becomes the driving force behind your sales.

THe guy I train with always needs to pop into the local GNC after leg day (he needs his multi, or some other crap). Anyway, all of the employess look like refugess from some POW camp, and I get followed around the second I enter the store being asked if I have any questions (yeah, what can I do to reach your level of development?! Nothing I do seems to work!)

LMAO!! Classic!
I like my GNC. The girls that work there are cute and fun to flirt with.
And anything I’ll buy I’ll get 3 for the price of 2, then 20% off that because I’m part of the GNC club or whatever, so it doesn’t come out to be so expensive. I will not, however, buy their creatine. They have some delicious whey that comes out to not be so expensive, though.
i look around in there sometimes and i love when i hear some brainless sales guy talking up some product to a customer. i’ve never heard such bullshit! sounds like he just memorized this line of crap off some index card or something. the sales people have practically zero knowledge of nutritional principals for the athelete.
