Glutamine Poll

A few points to address (because I am taking the casual discussion far too literally)…

  1. GLN was added to Surge for its potential to increase glycogen storage and protein synthesis. Although it didn’t pan out, I see it as a testament to how “ahead of its time” Surge was (based on the other ingredients).

  2. ZEB, the idea of enhanced immunity comes from a Castell study that is spammed in every glutamine supplement article. It’s strange because it has been repeatedly shown that plasma glutamine has nothing to do with immunity, so no one knows what happened with that anomalous finding.

  3. The gut doesn’t really destroy GLN, it just uses A LOT of it. That’s why GLN peptides are marketed to pass freely through the GI tract -of course this is based on nothing but lies and the fact that people will believe anything, simply because they want to.

Perhaps this describes why it could possibly help the immune system. I’ve heard that a very high percentage of your immune system is related to the digestive system.
I have been using it for about a year now, 5 grams in the morning with my protein shake, 5 grams postworkout with a shake and 5 grams with a shake before bed. On my off days 5 in the morning with a shake and 5 before bed with a shake. I had been off of the weights for a couple of years then on for about 8 months now consistent for this past year that I have used it. Put on 25 pounds with it and also creatine and protein, NO2 on my two workout days, I was using HIT training. Was it one of the reasons that I put on 25 pounds? Maybe, maybe not but I didn’t spend my usual $100 on Robitussin that I normally do every winter so I definetly think that it boosted my immune system.

A. Do you use Glutamine?

Yes

B. Do you find that it makes a difference?

No difference in gains as far as lifting, but I do feel that it helps me keep from getting sick. Also helped speed recovery by at least a day. Again, not sure of the “why’s” but it helped.

C. How do you take it if you do take it? With other Amino’s? or by itself?

I take it with a pwo shake.

a) During periods of intense training

b) Considerable, primarily in strength-endurance during these periods of planned overreaching

c) By itself, 20-40g/day, 20g before and during workouts

Have a good one,

Dan
