I am trying to find the glucose beverage JMB talked about in massive eating II. My local pharmacys do not carry it and I can’t find any on line. Has any one done this test and if so where did you get your glucose beverage?

jb told me to use something like 75 grams of pure glucose with 300 ml of water… i think thats it… you might wanna search under my name to find it
I went and bought some dextrose and plan to mix 75 gr with 300 ml of H20. Any comments or suggestions.

Jd I had the same problem call around to the mom and pop pharmacies they will usually order such and item for you if you wish.
I went ahead and did the test w/ 75 gr. of Dextrose and 300mL of H20. Fasted - 93, 15min 117, 30 min 131, 60 min 114, 90 min 114, 120 min 105. I should gather from this that although not “excellent” it is certainly very close. IE the curve is not too steep and rather flat. My conclusion is that I should be at about 45 carbs, 35 protein and 20 Fat, at least for 8 weeks or so and see what happens to my body comp. Interestingly enough, I have tried the keto diets a couple of times and lost more muscle that I thought I should. Could this be because I can handle/need more carbs. If I am way off base please tell me I can handle it! Thanks
JD,if you lost muscle from keto diets,I would look at your fat intake,was it adequate? On a low carb diet your body must look for another energy source apart from dietary carbs,you want it to use fat,but if you don’t eat enough dietary fat,it will breakdown muscle for aminos to convert to glucose.Give it enough fat and your body will use the dietary fat and bodyfat for fuel,thus preserving muscle.If this was not the problem then you might need to experiment with carb cycling,either after a workout or in the evenings 2-4 nights a week a la Natural Hormonal Enhancement.
