Maybe we should take a cue from the Puritans: put all the girls (and their parents too, why not?) in the stocks outside of City Hall, with large placards explaining what crime each of the stockaded individuals had committed.

There would, of course, be a bushel basket of overripe fruit and vegetables conveniently available, so that passers-by could select a soggy tomato, maybe, or a brown banana, or perhaps even a mushy cantaloupe, and hurl it gleefully at the malefactors.

There’s your public humiliation, baby.

I was thinking more along the lines of public caning, like in Singapore, but I like your idea as well. Oh, and that includes the parents.

It seems barbaric, but, just like bootcamps, what if that actually works?

I know that at least in our system, juvenile delinquents get a pass so often that they lose any respect for the law.

Until they turn 18 and are tried as adults and all their prior convictions are added to their sentences.

Maybe a solid public ass whooping would save a lot of time, money and grief.[/quote]

I don’t know what is barbaric about it. It’s just a public spanking with a wooden stick. As a teen I received several of these myself (not public, but with a wooden stick) and I turned out fine;}

If these girls simply made a bad decision, or went along with their peers for what ever reason as kids sometimes do. They would be showing some form of remorse.

As much as it pains me to see the life’s of eight young teens thrown away. We as responsible people can not allow them to go unpunished. The crime they committed and the crime they attempted to commit “posting the video to further their attack to level of psychological torture”. There by inflicting fear in others to never speak badly of them. Can not be condoned in anyway and a strong line must be drawn.

Allowing gang mentality to prosper at any level is basically excepting the rule of the gang. There is a gray area between gang and terrorist and posting your acts of torture to intimidate others is coming very close to crossing that line.

A clear message needs to be sent to our youth. And have no doubt our youth are watching, listening and learning so we better step up to the plate and start teaching. Maybe, just maybe the parents will also learn something.

The punishment should be just, that is why we have courts. It must also fit the crime that is why we have free speech, to voice our outrage. These teens don’t believe in free speech, so they need to learn.

In time, with early signs of remorse and continuous effort to make restitution. Living a life as a up standing citizen can be grounds for a pardon. Especially taking into account their age at the time the crime was committed. So their life’s can be recovered, it’s their choice.

Ok, a wooden paddle, not a cain. And, Yes, I did.

Aftermath of an actual Singapore caning. It is not exactly the same as a paddling.

If you say so. But unless you still carry the scars, I still say you probably had something other than a Singapore-style beating.

Your childhood must’ve been a blast.

If this guy was a rapist and if he did receive the maximum 24 strokes I am a fan of caning.

This made the news over here in Australia its kinda sad that school in both countries is turning this way.

I agree that paddling is not the same as caning. And I was paddled, not caned. And no, you can’t see my ass, but as for some of the T-vixens, lets talk;}
