Kimba, nice workout! I wonder what the trainer meant by “so low”? Like…is parallel “so low”? I wonder what he thinks of people who do ATG? Some guy was using the trap bar the other day! It’s like “trap bar week” or something!! ![]()
Your menu has me drooling, and it’s only 9.25am. How’s the goats milk cheesecake? I like goats cheese, but it’s a little funky - I’m wondering how it would be as part of a sweet dessert.
Nice work on the chins. I have real chin envy.
I wish I had a camera to use in the gym, my gym has a few guys that know what’s going on, but also a lot of bicep junkies. I’ve even had trainers run by and tell me that I go too low on my squats…? Can’t trust most people in the gym half as far as you can throw them.
I’m totally with Cal on the chin envy. The assist machine has been my friend for far too long. Great job and keep it up!
Bacon and desserts in one sitting… heaven.
It’s great that you work out when on the road. Very inspiring Missy ![]()

Making their clients feel bad about their performance is bad for business.
Boo to normal food.
nice looking chins.
Ahh, you’re ahead of me on chins. I kind of took a break to give my shoulder a rest. Now I realize I’m in the tortoise and hare race with you. I think we both know who’s who here.

QFT. I don’t know why gym trainers do this.
Greeney, I like the idea of trap bar week. I’ll be on the road again next week and will get to use my sister’s gym…which has a power rack AND a trap bar. Exciting!
Cal, I’d call the goat’s milk cheesecake very good, but not outrageously delicious. I prefer regular cheesecake, but it was interesting to try it. My favorite dessert was the pumpkin bread pudding…now THAT was truly delicious.
Odyssey, thanks for the kind words! Almost any camera will do video, even pretty cheap ones. Honestly, its probably my most important training tool and I’d recommend it to you.
Nikki, since I love to train it seems natural to do it on the road. More road training coming up next week and I’m really looking forward to it.
Jack and Bobbi, it seems lots of trainers have counterproductive behaviors. It must be SO frustrating to be a knowledgeable trainer and have these folks make the whole profession look bad.
Joe, I like normal food too. Treats are self-limiting to me. Thankfully!
Snapper: tortoise reporting for duty.
That is a funny comparison, but not complex enough to encompass differing types of tortoise-behavior. I think you are much better at powering through rehab than I am. BTW, those chin sets were with alot of rest in between (spent working and sometimes I got a bit too engrossed in work and took quite long breaks).
Today’s training was a 1 hour, 45 minute bicycle ride with hills and some fast sprints. That made me tired. yawn.
That meal sounded major delish!
thumbs up on the dinner.
two thumbs up on your intense training on the road.
sorry you are chained to your desk, but nothing ever seems to slow you down, woman.
excellent work as always, thanks for the inspiration, i need some to get back on track. ![]()
T., nice to see you here! I hope work slows down for you soon.
Today’s training was just another step in the journey. All good, though.

Friday night’s training is the last before vacation. If I make it until then.
Nice work in here. Its been a while since I have done Russian twists. I amy need to work those back in with some planks to keep my back safer from injury.
I’ve always wondered what this thread was about…lol.
Kimba, you are a beast. Much respect to you! I wish I would of caught your other logs. I’ve been studying a lot of your videos and I’m interested in your squats. My girlfriend had the same struggle with her knees. We’ve managed to overcome it and I believe you can too. Your work ethic is incredible. No wonder so many people follow you.

In my humble opinion: your knees cave in because your glutes aren’t firing. When you squat down, I’ve noticed that your knees go first. Try to focus on your hips being the first thing to move, as if you’re sitting back on the toilet. (I know I know, cliche) When you’re coming out of the hole, really focus on the glutes being the first thing to fire, as if your butt has a force field pushing your body up. (here’s where your husband can help by placing his hand on lightly on your glutes to help you make the connection)
I saw you doing the squat with the bands around the knees. THOSE LOOKED AWESOME! What happens is that pushing your knees out, makes it easier to recruit the glutes during the squat.
I saw you doing the barbell hip thrusts. Thank you for doing those
I know your glutes are firing there because I see you pushing out with your stomach. That’s a good thing. My only suggestion there would be to try a lower weight and focus on squeezing the glutes and bringing the hips through full extension.
The same mind muscle connection that you have for the thrusts, try to transfer it to the squat. Your glutes are strong. Have more faith in them. Invite them to join the fun. And keep posting!
Jack, I like the Russian twists and hate the planks with burning intensity. However, both of those exercises help me keep my core strong and I’d recommend them.
Student, thanks for your kind words and your advice. I’ve been working box squats to help with sitting back and using hip/glute action to get out of hole. I’ve slacked on the hip thrusts. Thanks for reminding me of them! That was a great glute exercise and I need to work it back into the routine.

How much did Kimba’s husband offer you to advise that?

Zero. He gets it for free according to the marital contract.

A contract, thats a good idea. Smart(whoops) fellow your husband.
Kimba, I like your spirit to do with exercises, I also think that this glute exercise will really helpful for you. Keep it up.
your 50 rep squat set as rehab kills me. i couldnt get through 50 reps of dl last night.
and who cares if u took long breaks btwn your chinup sets. esp if u did em with that chain from your desk…
