The only one I really cared about, and I am surely over by now, is that bumblebee won’t be the bug. I don’t know…I was a kid at the time so the smallest robot was who I identified with. I have no issues with him being a yellow camaro. At least they got the colors right.
Oh dear god, this doesnt look well at all. What did they do to Megatron?
That actually looks pretty bad ass. It just doesn’t look like the Transformers we remember. I really don’t care. Spielberg is working on this. The only movie I didn’t really like was “A.I.”

Its too abstract. Look at the other robots. They actually retain some of the vehicle they transformed from. Megatron does not. It needs to look like it actually transformed from a jet. I dont mind the head thats cool. Starscream looks like he came from a jet. Megatron looks like he was transformed from a stainless steel cactus.

It doesn’t seem as if he’s designed any differently from the others. The only way you could tell what Optimus transforms into is through the wheels on his limbs. It’s not the robot form that’s the problem with Megatron, it’s the fact that his vehicle form is a funky alien jet, which automatically makes his robot form harder to pin down visually.
Overall I’d say they just went too complex. People often respond better to visual simplicity.
They look like Bionicle characters. Starscream looks like Waspinator from the Beast Wars series. I know it is Waaay to early to critic anything but WTF.

Yeah his design is too complex. It seems like they gave him more complexity in his robot form though. I think smoother and sharper would be the way to go.
I’m sure once we see all of them transform we’ll be fine. I just hope none of them morph like the T-1000.

I think that holds true of most of the preview designs so far. I’m hoping that the final choices will have a smoother, more appealing look to them.

Well, you’re also taking into account that these aren’t the “Cybertron” versions of these robots. They all started out as alien spacecrafts even on the cartoon series. They didn’t turn into anything related to “humans” or Earth until they arrived on the planet.

The cartoon was campy as all hell. To make a movie JUST LIKE the cartoon would be an utter disaster. I am actually glad they are removing the size changing. It made no sense to begin with. Sure, it was just a cartoon so no one cared as a kid, but honestly, a 6 ton robot becomes a 6 inch tall radio cassette recorder? WTF?

That’s funy. My friend and I go on about that everytime we talk about Transformers. Also how Megatron gets small enough for Starscream to use him as a pistol, and Astrotrain becomes large enough to hold all the Decepticons. The movie I love, but it’s also fun to laugh at the silly parts.
“Jettison some weight, or we’ll never make it to Cybertron!”
