Nice benching, it looks like at the liftoff the bar is at eye level, possibly having the bar between the nose and mouth would allow you to bring the bar lower on the chest?
The setup on the bands, you run underneath the bench? interesting is it a different feel than anchoring them at the bottom?

I think you’re right, and I do need to get my head down the bench a bit further. I’m going to try that+ lowering the rack heights ( i’m 6’0, but still usually use the lowest height on most benches) and see if it helps.
That was a new band setup that we tried for the first time. We have a Metal Militia bench, and it does have the band pegs on it. ( You can see them here)
But we wanted to try something a little different, the setup was two strong bands knotted together at one end. It made a big figure eight looking kind of thing, and then we anchored in under the bench pad. It did feel quite a lot different than using the pegs, actually. The lockout was hard as shit.

what a whirlwind of a weekend. I poisoned my body with liquor and drugs and live music and no sleep for days. I also got to see one of my favorite active punk bands! And hang out with the vocalist, one of the better experiences of my life. However, my previously handsome visage now looks like this.
On doctors orders to avoid anything that may cause any further bleeding in my eye, my planned low box cambered 3rm quickly became ’ do some easy triples’.
HOLY SHIT…thats what I call proof of a rough show!!!
Man you look like me coming out of NYHC shows back in the day…great times that Im sure you will NEVER forget…dont lose that pic…you can show your kids one day how much of a badass you are! Actually you should make that your avi.

Oh and your light squat day is my max day…FUCK!
It WAS an excellent show, there is a lot more to the story, it ends with me getting to smoke weed with one of my biggest punk heroes. What a time. Who did you get to see in terms of NYHC bands? Anything wicked and legendary?
Don’t worry about the squatting, I’m still a skinnyfat little baby.

How much do you think the bands added on that bench? Pretty sweet black eye there bud.
Quite a lot, actually. I’d never benched against the strong bands before. We didn’t measure the tension, but I’d guess it was somewhere between 80 for the short limbed fellas, and 90-100 for us taller guys.
26/10/11
Christmas came early ( again) to us today, as we received our Swiss Bar from Spud Inc! Cool! We quickly got to work in using it for our Rep benching tonight. The handles on this thing are bg, and I’m weak in the hands and such. it humbled me.
Warm Up
band 3 way
rotations
depth pushups 3x3
grippers
I’m doing vocals for a cover set with some of my friends this holiday season, we’re doing a set of covers from the only band we can all agree on loving: jawbreaker. I may be joining up with a punk band at my uni, too. I’m going to be busy.
Oh man from the NYHC scene Ive seen tons to name a few: H2O, Murphys Law, Agnostic Front, Crown of Thornz, Madball, Sick of it all, No Redeeming Social Value, 25 ta life, Gorilla Biscuits to name a few but by far I had my most memorable times at a local place called Castle Heights in Queens, NY…here is vid of one of the shows I was at there. 15 blocks from my house would go there all the time so much fun…miss those times. RIP Castle Heights

Another exciting day of mail for the Amherst Powerlifting Club. Today we received: our sled from Spud Inc, as well as our monolift straps, our ab straps for the pulldown machine, the waist strap for the sled, the upper body strap for the sled, as well as the ankle strap. We should be getting our Texas Squat bar, Texas Deadlift Bar and our Buffalo Bar all from Westisde Barbell sometime next week. I think i forgot to mention that we got some new KBs, too. And we have a new set of bands, as well as short bands on their way. As well as a Revese Hyper and Fat bar. And THEN I’m going to do a video tour for that home gym thread.
In unrelated hardcore news: American Nightmare are playing reunion shows in Boston and LA this holiday season! WITH HAVE HEART AND CARRY ON! Get stoked.
