how do people deal with the fear of “smallness” ? even when you loose fat, and not loose muscle, you still have a feeling of shrinking up, and being on low carbs certainly doesn’t help, because you loose some of that hard feeling. Even though you might look bigger in the mirror, due to the new definition. how do people deal with it phsycologically ?
PODGE - You have to look at it long term. Once I hit my target body fat (around 8%, I’m guessing for me), I’m going to stay there and do well-planned and timed bulking cycles to maximize muscle growth and minimize fat accumulation. I realize that I’m going to have to get small at least this one time, but I’m 25. I plan on training for a long time, so 8 weeks to cut down is a pretty short window…For the rest, I took my measurements this morning so here goes. Start 207 lbs, 178.43 lean, 28.57 fat, 13.8% fat. End of week 1: 201.6 lbs, 176.92 lean, 24.68 fat, 12.24%. Net changes are loss of 5.4 lbs (1.5 lean, 3.9 fat). Obviously, week 1 is going to be the most drastic change due to loss of glycogen, etc. I don’t expect to see any more drops in lean body mass this large. And a final note to everyone, I use body composition tools to monitor progress OVER TIME. I take skinfold measurements every week and a Tanita scale reading every morning. I know those seemed like big jumps, so I’ll just have to wait and see what happens over the next few weeks. Time will tell the real story. Keep up the good work everybody.
I was doing Fat Fast with Mag-10 about 2 months ago. After about 2 weeks into the diet I felt like I was getting smaller and I thought that I looked smaller. I stayed on the diet for about 2 more weeks then slowly started to work carbs back in. It was very hard for me to deal with getting smaller and weaker but I needed to get a more lean look so I sucked it up and kept going.
How rude of me! That last “Hey, Ritchie Rocket” was from me.
Great results so far. I guess that could be an example of what Berardi mentioned about the how fat loss can be more than the typical 1-2 lbs. per week when you have more to lose. Obviously, you’re not some obese client off the street, but the fact that you’re over 200 with over 20 lbs. of fat on you seems to substantiate the point, especially in light of my results. At my bodyweight and bodyfat percentage at the start, I calculated that I had of 18.6 lbs. of fat mass. Twenty five days of low carbs later (except for the 3 that I was sick), I’m at 13.2 lbs. of fat mass, for a 5.4 lb. change. This works out to roughly 1.5 lbs. per week, 2.4 less than you! Plus, you could probably clean and press my scrawny ass! Also, we differ in that I am going the low carb route, and have lost 4.2 lbs. of lean mass, almost all due to glycogen I suspect, as I’ve used Mag-10 and Methoxy throughout. After all those calculations, I just realized that I forgot what my point was. Oh yeah, those gains will definitely slow once you hit single digit bodyfat percentage, as I’m now realizing at 8.6%. Nonetheless, helluva job!
First off, thank for being a believer. You can check out my respons to Vain68 is his “cut the crap” thread. BTW, I calculated your weight based on your fat mass and %body fat. Yeah, clean and press for reps
Don’t remember what thread it was in, but I remember Bill Roberts telling someone to not keep their MAG-10 in the fridge. I think he mentioned that the A1E could come out of solution under fridge temperatures due to the super saturation in the solution. You may want to email or post a question to Bill about this. Keep up the good work. 13lbs in 3 weeks is really great.
Right now I’m trying to cut, but it isn’t going very well. I put on quite a bit in the last year. I’m now eating 4/3 cups of whole rolled oatmeal in two low-carb Grow! shakes daily. I’m also eating 4 chicken breasts. That’s six meals, and that’s all I’m eating. On either Saturday or Sunday, I’ll have a little bit of something sweet. I’m on MD6 and the new Methoxy. I don’t think I’ve lost a pound in the last 3 weeks, so I’ll be adding three days a week of cardio (15 min sessions) this week. Wish me luck.
ahhh, now I see the need to get all ripped up! Well it definitely sounds like this girl is worth the effort. Let us know how the evening pans out…and good luck!
Did I say clean and press? I meant tricep kickback :). The scary thing is that I’m about 60 pounds heavier than I was in in early 1999 when I got out of the hospital for liver problems. At my weight, it seems weird that I would be cutting, but I’ve been bulking for so long that my body just seemed to stop responding once I hit 11% or so.
F#$K !!.. i’ve been dieting for 11 days now, and i feel like i’m getting a cold… it’s gotten severely cold here lately, and there’s already a couple of people here at work that aren’t feeling good… what can i do ???
Pop several VitC tabs a day, throughout the day. I haven’t gotten sick yet since I started doing that.
Hey, start taking Vitamin C - NOW! And take a extra day off from training. Sleep. Rest. Recover. When I feel a cold coming on during critical times of training (contest preparation), I do this. It doesn’t hurt - but helps a great deal.
Increase vitamin C intake to 2g per day and you could also pick up some Cold-Eez zinc lozenges at the store. Just make sure there is at least 30 minutes between your vit C intake and zinc intake. Increase consumption of fruits, veggies and other natural foods. Cut back on lifting intensity and do a little lite cardio. Hope that helps. Usually helps me.
60 lbs is a great gain. Good job! I remember reading about your story. Very interesting and inspiring. Anyway, as Vain68 mentioned in a previous post, you are priming your body for some serious lean body mass gain by dieting down. When you switch back over, I would be shocked if you don’t bust through your previous best body weight. BTW, I’m 6’3", so I have a lot of surface area that make 200lbs look pretty small. I’ll consider myself big once I hit 225 or something like that, but the goal now is to shed the fat, so enough talk about bulking up.
You guys suck, and I mean that in the nicest way. I cannot seem to cut anymore. I started bodybuilding as a means to lose weight, and I’ve done well enough - 50 pounds over the last year, and I just can’t seem to go any further. I’m eating 95% clean, pretty low calories 1800-2000 and I still can’t get rid of the fat. I’ve started increasing the cardio, hopefully we’ll see some results there. Wish me luck!
How long have you been cutting? It sounds like it is time for you to hit a bulking routine. If you have been doing nothing but cutting, your body will be primed for lean mass gain. Once you add a little muscle, you can switch back over to fat loss. What are your numbers? %body fat, height, weight, training history, diet history? A lot of us can help you, but you we need more information.
Why such low calories? And in terms of bodybuilding training - what are you doing (weights, sets, reps)? And how many days a week have you been training? These are factors - also, how for how long did you have a high bodyfat percentage? Don’t get discouraged, this is a good time to get to know your body!
6’3"? Damn, you could probably beat me senseless in basketball, too-that is, unless we’re talking about the playstation version:). I’m only 5’8", so I’d be stoked to get to 200 in the next 2-3 years. I’ve got some more motivation now, too, as my boss (a former competitive bodybuilder) seems to belittle everything that I say and do. I can’t wait to be bigger (and smarter) than him and just laugh in his face before I quit. I’m thinkin this cutting phase will leave me at about 157 at 6% once I’ve carbed up. After that, I plan to adhere to a 6%-10% range of bodyfat no matter what. Anything over 11% is just too uncomfortable for me, so I want to play it safe. Hopefully, I’ll be 185 by the end of this year- we’ll have to just wait and see.
Currently at 1650 calories, 250g protein, 110g carbs, and 30g fats. I take oatmeal and whey meal 1, cottage cheese and fish caps meals 2, 4,and 6, meal 3 is tuna, ultra low fat mayo and a few veggies, meal 5 is surge post workout. All fats are from fish oils, carbs are all low glycemic. Also taking T3 50mcg, 500mg sustanon/week, 50mg TA/day, 50mg Winny, 50mg ephedrine, 400mg caffeine, and .5mg arimidex EOD. Been dieting for 5 days, have lost 10lbs so far, probably about 5lbs water and 5lbs fat. Lost .2" on arms and delts, but quite sure that is just muscle gylcogen depletion due to how roids with high cals saturate them like mofos. Just started the T3 and Winny today, I am planning on going 3-4 weeks on this diet, and expect to lose 14-20lbs of pure fat. Honestly, I feel great right now (obviously has something to do with the drugs)… I am NEVER hungry, I never feel like eating, but I still do. I have a lot of energy, and today even broke my squat record, 600lbs. This is my first time dieting on drugs, and WOW, I just love it. 5 days and I have lost 4mm on my subiliac caliper measurement, usually that takes me 2 weeks to do on a non-drug, more normal calorie type diet. And I just can’t get over how NOT hungry I am, I always thought test and fina gave you more hunger! My veins are popping out more, stomach tighter, strength increasing, all after only 5 days!!! And with just starting the winny and T3 today, the best is yet to come!
