Getting Healthier, Bigger, and Stronger

Vomit :face_vomiting: at current circumstances

The last three days were just a mesh of constant diarrhea and feeling terrible. I mal-absorb fat. Good to know! Making the switch to chicken should help.

I’m back to lifting weights again. Feeling slightly better than I was.

Deadlift - 295, 265 x 5
Press - 105, 95 x 5

Everything felt easy, if not rusty. No straps or belt for this cycle. Should be a doable adaptation.

Easy lifting today. More reps in the tank for both. Calling at least 10 (RPE 5), which is where I want to be.

Deadlift - 300, 270 x 5

Press - 110, 100 x 5

Easy lifting today, but I forgot to up the weights for press today. No matter, carrying on. Also have gotten sick enough to get fed through an IV starting tomorrow. Let’s see how long I can go before I crash and burn (nutrition malabsorption and nausea make it impossible for me to eat nowadays and the weed makes no difference).

More easy lifting, and here’s how 310 moves for a set of 5.

Easy lifting abounds and I’ve graduated to eating some simple carbs. I still don’t feel amazing but it’s an improvement since the start of quarantine for sure. And I feel much better than I did when I was a smoker. Just hit 4 months smoke-free. But wow are cigarettes much more addictive than the juul, which is what got me hooked on cigs in the first place. More chemicals to toke on. For once the government had my best interest in mind with those anti-smoking ads.

Deadlift - 305, 275 x 5

Press - 115, 105 x 5

Pretty easy. I felt okay for the workout too. I can always get 10 reps on any set I do, or at least it feels that way.

@strongmanbrett what’s your weight these days? I need to see what goal weight to shoot for, because your additional heft/weight gives you the 500 pull I want to have. Of course, training applies heavily, but BW is the kicker I think.

Was about 191 when I pulled 505, which I was cutting weight as I got up to that weight. Maximizing my leverages was the kicker for me in deadlift, used to move the bar a mile up my body but once I adjusted my technique it moves like 1.5ft off the ground now haha.
It can’t hurt to gain some more weight but it should slow down when you feel your leverages changing too much.

Leverages are super important but I don’t use a belt anyway, because it only gets in the way when I pull. That’s why I think increasing my raw body weight might help me more than anything else in conjunction with a good program.

I used to be around 191 and now I’m 165, so I have some room to play around. I’m 5’9” for reference. I figure I’ll stop gaining around 180 and see if I can pull 500.

I’ve been deficit deadlifting this whole time, so I can’t wait to see what I’ll pull on a real bar in a real gym. My barbell is crappy.

Deadlift - 300 x 5, 270 x 5

Press - 110, 100 x 5

My back off sets are getting faster. That means something good is happening, I think.

Instagram isn’t letting me showcase my lifting.

310 x 5 has never moved faster. For 3 months, I’ve been pulling at RPE 3 (if I push it). I’m feeling good about the way my lifting is going for the first time in a long time. I usually feel like I can get 10-12 reps with any weight I touch.

BW 163.5 after lifting.

Easy lifting to end the week but I am feeling the fatigue from tons of yard work and a lack of sleep along with all the weight I’ve already lifted this week.

Press 130 x 5, 120 x 5

@strongman.brett I made a few changes to my technique that reduced bar travel by a significant amount.
