Getting Back on Caffeine

hey everyone, would appreciate some feedback

now, I’ve always been told that to maximise your fat loss and metabolism etc, its better to have some form/lots of caffeine, and that fat loss tablets have lots of caffeine (correct me if Im wrong)

now, I absolutely hate coffee during the day, and only drink it as a social thing at night,
I used to drink diet coke, and a moderate amount of green tea, but no brown teas,

One of my friends thought I was addicted to caffeine due to having 3 -4 cans of diet coke a day, and said that I couldn’t stop and I would have withdrawal symptons such as head aches and shaking and that I would eventually reach my goal but fail the first few times,

so I made a friendly bet that I would have no problems and that I could do it without any hesitation, and I went 18 months without a sip of coke, coffee, energy drinks, tea, green tea,

now Ive been and back from holidays and trying to focus on fat loss since I got back a week ago,

so how would you guys recommend caffeiene into the diet or do I even need it,

the only requirement I have is absolutely no caffeine in the morning, or first 3 hours of the day, I usually train 3 hours after I get up.

much appreciated everyone

Just have a small caffeine source and see how that treats you, then use caffeine from then-on-in based on what amount you can tolerate.

I know many OTC thermogetics are loaded with caffeine to cover up for shit ingredients, but I think that it should be listed on the label most the time. (Also, from experience, I think HOT-ROX in the T-store has around 150-200mg based on how I felt from it and attempting to factor out yohimbine, which is a decent amount).

And in regards to your question about needing it; you do not, but it can help. It is your choice.

May I ask why you do not wish to have caffeine that early in the morning? And does this apply to all caffeine sources or just liquid ones?

thanks for the reply,

firstly, I like coffee but can’t stand the after taste, often when I have a coffee as a social thing at night, ill probably drink 1 L of water and won’t stop until its time to leave the cafe/restaurant, the taste doesn’t seem to disappear for hours,

I have a sensitvev sense of smell, as a result, I hate coffee breath, parents have it from drinking 2-3 cups in the morning, I find that often people who have bad breath it usually has coffee mixed in their breath, girls, I prefer them without coffee breath,

and call me a weird or a hippy, but I am quite anti-drugs/chemical pick me ups, I feel vulnerable taking something that is going to wake me up, for the fear of being addicted to it, so hence I don’t have any caffeine sources in the morning, earliest coffee will be about 6pm, earliest coke will be lunch time. I don’t want to imagine myself being one of those people that say “i need a coffee in the morning or I don’t function” there is nothing wrong with this at all, but I just feel very uncomfortable if I were in this situation, just a personal thing.

ok so for fat loss, should I swig some diet coke at certain times of the day??? if so how much and when???

much appreciated

A diet coke will not help with fat loss.

Caffeine is not the end-all of fat loss supplements, but a factor that helps in fat loss. Many thermogetic pills have caffeine to aid other ingredients in the pill, and give a little happiness to someone who should be in a hypocaloric state.

As for timing, prior to exercise is the best for caffeine; if using green tea, that can be sipped whenever. (In regards to the EGCG, not caffeine)

It is your choice as to not have caffeine in the morning, but caffeine at night can impair sleep. The morning is the lesser of two evils.

thanks for your responses,

it seems that it does so little that effective training and the extra cardio session or longer session will do much better, and since I don’t crave caffeine or particularly like coffee, it looks like I will just stay off it!

Caffeine can help burn an extra few calories, especially when paired with ephedrine or yohimbine. However, it’s not required for any sort of diet, ever. If you don’t like it, I wouldn’t bother.

I also wouldn’t recommend drinking your caffeine at night, unless you intentionally want to impair sleep.

You should stop hanging out with idiots. Yes, it is possible to get a dependence on caffeine, and you can have (short-lived) withdrawal symptoms if you stop taking it. But look up the amount of caffeine in a diet coke (45g) compared to a cup of coffee (~100g) compared to the amount in one typical fat burner pill (200g)… Your friend is still an idiot, and you listened to him.

ha ha, well to be honest, I do see some truth in what she said, and the strange thing is she is a nurse who deals with drug addicts and anaeorxics who drink heaps of energy drinks every day

I have been taking 400mg 20 min before every workout for the past yr. for energy purposes. As far as cutting with caffeine, I haven’t noticed any difference in fat loss with or without the 400mg, but my energy levels really suck if I don’t take the 400mg before the workout. Your body will soon adapt to the caffeine also. The first couple of months it gave me great energy levels, not so much anymore.
