what are you weighing in at right now?

This week I am water loading and going to cut down the 175’s for the first time ever. I am usually at 190 give or take a few pounds.

Today didnt do anything. Just continuing my deload

Okay!!! Here is a write up from Thursday evening(night before weigh ins) through Saturday(Competition Day)

Thursday:
Stopped drinking water around 4pm. and my last meal was at 3pm. By the time I went to bed which was around midnight I already had cotton mouth and had only pissed a couple times which was concerning me because I wanted to be flushing out as much water as possible. Went to bed weighing in at 182 which was good i guess.

Friday:
Woke up at 7 and immediately drove to the sauna. I didnt sleep too well. Woke up every two hours. Before going into the sauna I weighed 178.2. I thought it would be cake to sweat off these last few pounds. I was wrong. After over 2 hours of 10-15min rounds in the sauna with about 3-5min breaks i weighed 176. I was nautious the entire time and was struggling to say the least. With having at least 4 hours until weigh in and expecting my scale to be a little heavy I though 176 was good. During the 2 hour drive to the hotel we kept the windows closed so the car would heat up and I had sweat pants and a sweat shirt on. When we got to the hotel room my scale read 174.8. Perfect! Went and weighed in and them proceeded to consume 1 gallon of water a quart of gatorade, a coffee from dunking donuts, a bagel, a DD chicken wrap, snickers, potato skins, buffalo chicken wrap, and 2 poptart packages. This put 10 pounds back in me real fast and I felt so much better. My stomach had issues passing the volume of everything into my intestines but I made out okay.

Saturday:
Woke up and started drinking more gatorade and water, and went to Denny’s. Ate two breakfast meals there and then drove to the competition location. When we arrived it was freezing! 32 degrees outside, wasnt really planning on it being that cold but whatever everyone was dealing with it.

Event 1:
Log Clean and Press, 180 pounds
I got 7 easy reps here. I think i could have had an 8th but for some reason i was an idiot and passed with a couple seconds to go. Dont ask me why. still was happy with that. and it earned me a tie for first.

Event 2:
Yoke, 550 for 50ft
Finished this in 10.26s. Felt pretty good, I have definitely had fast runs but was good enough for first on this event.

Event 3:
Car Deadlift
I got 5 reps here. Was a huge relief. Earned me 3rd but I was happy I just got it. The deadlift has notoriously been my worst event show after show and even though I lost some points here I was pleased with my performance. Each rep was like a one rep max but yet was able to keep squeezing out another and got my final rep right as my 60s was up.

Event 4:
Conan’s Wheel,500
Made it 210ft with this which earned me 2nd(lost by 9ft). I just went nuts on this and tried using short quick breaths only when needed and was super happy with the result. I honestly dont remember much from this event.

Event 5:
Stone over bar, 220
I got 9 reps here and I needed the first place finish to at least tie for the win but the leader was able to squeeze out 1 more rep for the sole victory.

Still ended up with a second place finish and an invitation to Nationals. Some notes from the competition that I am keeping in the back of my head…
-speed kills. basically the most athletic person wins at the 175 pound class and it happens time and time again. today i wasnt the most athletic and it showed. I need to continue to work on getting fast with reps to improve my standings.
-i need to keep doing what i have been doing in the last month or two for my deadlift. it helped out a ton. basically trapbar and straight bar work and rack pulls, it seems to be helping.
-need to get more specific. I have barely been able to train events because of my internship but I was still able to have a good showing. I need to train events more if I really want to continue to improve my game.

that is all I have for now. I am extremely happy with my result but I am not satisfied, need to keep working and improving. next show is May 11th… Battle of the Thunder Gods III

So decided to go in today and train. The athlete program isnt all that difficult as far as volume is concerned so I thought it wouldnt hurt to go in and do some work.

Those deadlifts killed my hamstrings, was cramping up earlier tonight. They felt really good, I think I could have pulled a good single today but being a few days after the competition I decided against it and chose to do some higher reps instead which I think I will stick with for my Wednesdays for the time being. Monday’s Shall be my “heavier” day.

took today off from training, and probably will tomorrow as well. Thursday is going to be a big event day. Have Log, farmers, DB, and stones planned

Did a bunch of event training today. Even though I will be competing on May 11th I have not really been able to train the events for it and have just been trying to enjoy a variety of events when I get access to all of the implements.
Was able to train with Mike today as well.
