As much as you can complain about various things done by cops, the alternative would be paying a heavily armed militia/gang to keep order and fight crime. Does that really sound like a better option than the current situation with the police?
This is being pushed by white people or middle and upper class, college educated blacks. I believe the three founders of BLM were not born or raised in the ghetto. This explains why their agenda is some Marxist identity politics bullshit and not about helping poor people achieve the American Dream.
It appeals to the lazy and unambitious who want to blame the system for their lack of success. They love the idea of communism because they think “free shit.” People think the response is, who is going to pay for it? That’s the wrong question because they don’t care who pays for it. The question to ask them is, you do know, you’ll still have to get a job? Because the reality is, having to get a job is what they think fascism is.

We went to school, we opened the businesses and we joined the cops too. Now we out-earn the former bigots, and we live in the suburbs. My grandfather fixed steel so his kids wouldn’t have to, and they didn’t.

One way to drive crime statistics down is to eliminate the reason people commit crimes. The Police. If we got rid of the police department, nobody will be charged with any crimes at all. Everyone knows nobody will need or even want to commit crimes without all of that oppression.
I think the San Francisco giants did a few million in damages (saw 4 somewhere but didn’t know if that was the total of the three) after WINNING the World Series a few times in a short span.
I believe Montreal has had some crazy damage amounts, but at least that was with them losing the Stanley Cup.

See what he says in the picture with the black background - “a police-free future”. The article you linked mentioned Compton and Camden disbanding their police departments and getting another one to take over, but these people are serious about no police at all.
I don’t want to get rid of police as in completely, but think we could make a ton of changes in that area (really our whole justice system).
Putting people behind bars in our country is big business. Obviously I’m not sitting here saying we shouldn’t have any police and we shouldn’t have any jails. But maybe we should ask ourselves if we really need the amount of police we do have and the amount of prisoners. Goddamn people talk about totalitarian governments but we’ve been the reigning lock people up champ for quite a while now last I knew.
I can’t get on board with abolish at all, but I can get on board with reform in a hurry.
I was referring to the Mayor engaging in obsequiousness to the woke crowd, only to be defenestrated the moment he didn’t assent to the crowd’s demands.
I for one can’t wait to see how this community policing solution works out in Minneapolis. I expect it’ll be a complete dumpster fire and gun sales will skyrocket, but who knows. Baltimore is talking about dismantling their police force too. It’s not like there’s crime here so it should be fine.
