I literally could not write a better example of a victim blaming phrase.
And again whatabouttism when talking about the unjustified killing of a black male at the hands of a cop. Why is it so hard for some people to discuss an incident like this without trying to draw attention away and immediately pivoting to “whatabout liberal run ghettos and murder rates there, that’s the real story”?
This is personally one of the things that frustrates me the most. I recognize that SWAT and other areas have different requirements but I am thinking of the standard force. Unfortunately I don’t think that’s going to change unless a lot of other things change as well. Crush of funding, manpower, practice (i.e. absolutely minimal practice hours/rounds for marksmanship and handling, use, etc), politics, and public sentiment aren’t doing good things right now.
This is an easy question to answer, although probably not the answer you want.
This is a difficult topic to discuss due to the complete lack of understanding of use of force subject matter by the people who are the loudest LEO critics. This is very similar to gun control, where having a discussion usually requires unpacking a series of flawed assumptions and fact-free narratives that drive opinion.
SJW’s, BLM, etc don’t want to have a discussion, they want to virtue signal and pass self-congratulatory policies that have the right kind of optics, regardless of what abysmal outcomes may be in store for the people who have to live with those policies.
This is why we are having the unintended consequences of advancing the fact-free narrative that the police are racist to the core. You have fewer cops staying in those jurisdictions, fewer quality applicants and a demoralized police force who is forced to go into cover your ass mode so they don’t become the next Officer Wilson.
This is clearly reflected in all kinds of metrics measuring violence.
See above. We are not cultivating the atmosphere for qualified applicants to step forward, let alone produce improved outcomes in lethal force situations. This is all about manipulating people’s emotions for political power.
In an encounter between two people, both people play a role. This isn’t innocent people walking to the library but criminals facing arrest.
Why is his race important?
Why is it so hard for the media to draw attention to the murder rates of black people as both victim and perpetrator? Why does the media and sjw crowd only care when it’s good ratings?
Because they are racists. In what universe does it make sense to abolish the police in the most violent communities in America? What? Black people don’t deserve the same protection from crime as whites?
These elites want to run their neo-marxist gender studies social experiments among the most vulnerable people in our country.
Guy who is known to carry an unpermitted gun resists arrest and jumps in his car where a gun could be and gets shot. How does race play a factor in that scenario?
Seems like cops have issues with folks trying to hop back in their car to drive off. Wouldn’t it make sense to have some 6"x6" spike squares they could toss down infront of the rear wheels at most every stop where they think a person may try to flee?
Only issue would be forgetting to remove them and telling the motorist to have a nice day! Haha.
Would have prevented the need for a taser in this situation for example. Taser still may have been needed after the vehicle was incapacitated, but this would be a good tool to prevent/discourage folks trying to drive off and cops feeling they had to stop them NOW or never.
Random brainstorm of something I think would be easy to implement.
In a world where people have somehow come to believe that the police are out to murder them, fleeing for your life when encountering law enforcement beings to make a lot more sense. I believe this will happen more and more often as this narrative continues to take hold.
In other words, self-serving politicians have found another way to create a problem that can only be solved by electing them. And the DNC are all-in on the America is Irredeemably Racist poker hand. Right down to Obama’s words tonight. No need to wait for the jury verdict, our scandal-free media darling President Obama has declared St. George Floyd’s death to be a murder in plain English.
Obama’s words are a mighty crescendo to the media chorus that’s been going on since hour 1 of this event, which is the narrative that Floyd was obviously murdered by the white racist Officer Chauvin.
This is unsurprising, given that Obama had no problem fanning the flames of Ferguson, Baltimore, Trayvon Martin and every other media-driven narrative of his presidency. Our current office-holder, former Vice President Joe Biden, has been reading teleprompter messages that are brazen lies about the Georgia election laws, going all-in by invoking Jim Crow.
But hey, at least he isn’t tweeting at 3 am. I still don’t have a Twitter, but even if Biden could operate a device like Trump did I think I will pass on a connection to Joe Biden’s 3am brain. Just like I did Trump’s.
Quit breaking the law. Or appearing to break the law.
We know that’s never gonna happen though.
So, we look for better ways to handle and not harm those that make stupid decisions… Eg tasers.
Pre-emptive spike strips on a suspects car (as a random example) would have removed the need to shoot a number of folks appearing in recent viral police use-of-force stories.
