George Floyd Riots

In Kenosha and Minneapolis, it will soon be too cold for most protestors.

Maybe I am to cynical. Perhaps most people will see the evidence and evaluate it on their own vs listening to a narrative? I see the Kenosha event currently as jumping the gun and protesting before knowing facts. I suppose that is why I am skeptical.

I still need more evidence myself before coming to a conclusion. I am skeptical of any narratives I have heard though.

What does the weather turn to between now and winter in Portland? They’re on what
day 100 of protests/riots? Rioters are calling for body armor now saying “this is a matter of life and death.” eyeroll

It is certainly more mild than Minneapolis.

Uh, I think we are seeing who these people are for the first time. Soul found, it just happens to be dark and authoritarian.

Not a real fallacy. It is mighty intersectionalist of you, but it doesn’t actually exist.
There is a huge disparity between black on black crime and any other race on race crime. It’s not even in the ball park, its not even the same game.
This is just a fact, not bias. Feel free to fact check the stats.

My understanding of the climate in Oregon is hot as shit for 2 months and cold rain. 2 seasons. Winter won’t make one damn difference unless they get hit with a very improbable hurricane. Now volcanoes, that can happen. And It would be less damaging than the riots.

Why do you say that. It is just a fancy term for “the larger problem” fallacy.

I accept that the rates of black violence are higher than most other races (might be some tribal group or something somewhere that is higher, don’t know).

It isn’t wrong to do something like police reform, even when we know it isn’t going to have a large impact on the black community. It is still the right thing to do.

In fact, by working on these issues, you reduce the excuses brought by the black community that are used to keep themselves from success.

Like this?

If I lived in that building, I would take the rioters up and show them his apartment. Or the residents should kick down his door and throw him in to the crowd so they would leave. They tried to burn his building down
And he turns around and support them. He gets what he gets.
There are no words for how stupid this guy is.

Oh I believe in police reform, very much. But we cannot really discuss it while cities burn. That’s like talking about redesigning the mail box while the house is on fire.
I think it’s time for the insurrection act. It’s not what I want, but if these nimrods cannot get a hold of a couple hundred people in their own cities, what choice do we have?

An excuse to set more fires.

Unfortunately that requires critical thinking skills, which are in short supply these days.

That’s exactly what it is, no other way to look at it unless you consider Benjamin Crump a credible source of information. Even the guy who recorded one of the videos said he heard the cops saying to drop the knife, and Blake admitted to having a knife.

There isn’t a complete story available just yet, but it’s looking worse and worse for Blake as more is revealed. Nothing wrong with being skeptical of the police version, but in this case it can’t be far from the truth if you examine what is available.

So the left wing rioters feel that they aren’t responsible for their actions or what?

They lamented the man killed Saturday — a member of the right-wing Patriot Prayer organization, according to fellow members — but said his death after a day of clashes between the right and left was Mr. Wheeler’s fault.

“What took place last night was inevitable given Mayor Wheeler’s repeated failures. He has not protected or supported Portlanders. We do not have confidence in his ability to course-correct. He must resign,” the groups said.

TBH, I don’t know the scope of all the protests. Here in Minnesota it seems pretty tame now. I am about 20 minutes south of Minneapolis though. Where I work is a border city of Minneapolis, and one wouldn’t even know there are protests.

Maybe it has died down here more than other places? Don’t know. I think we are a bit guilty of listening to media narratives that exaggerate the problems though. I don’t think most cities have any significant problems with rioting.

Her Twitter account was suspended. Of course.

Believe her only applies to rich white women accusing politicians (unless it’s a democrat).

Her story is not totally accurate, he already had the knife in his hand when he went to the car.

That really gives the impression that Twitter and the mainstream media are in favor of riots and mindless violence and destruction. They censor stuff like this while promoting alternative facts from bullshitters like this Crump character, and they obviously know what it leads too. If people knew what was really going on the the riots wouldn’t have any semblance of legitimacy and life could go back to normal.

She said that he already had it in one Tweet. He did go to his car in a way that looked like he was going to get something. If I had to guess, I’m gonna say she is pissed so her Tweets might not be error free. Who knows? Maybe she isn’t who she says she is but I don’t think Twitter would know that.

Based on what we know now, I would assume he was going to drive away. We will never know what his intentions were unless he tells us, and I wouldn’t count on him to tell the truth either. The false narrative that he was going to check on his kids is a joke. Just got tased twice and fought off a few cops, now pull out my knife and make sure the kids are comfortable in the car I stole. Yeah right.

I have no idea who this Twitter poster could actually be if not the aunt of the victim, but if she got suspended for this then something is seriously wrong.

I would be interested to know if they tested Blake for drugs after the incident. He was clearly not thinking straight, and the fact that he was tased twice with no effect could suggest drugs. The whole thing is crazy, and worse if that was the same woman he raped.

If you think of him as a normal, rational person with something to lose rather than a criminal. It’s like the guy in Detroit, Hakim Littleton, who pulled a gun to shoot a cop while his friend was being arrested for triple homicide. There are a bunch of cops there and he pulls out a gun to shoot one and gets shot by them instead. It sounds unbelievable when you hear it but the body cams don’t lie. A lot of these people (meaning criminals) are just really low IQ.
