George Floyd Riots

A fairly badass one, all told.

Edit: let’s also be real here, that quote is straight metal.

Why talk about the hypothetical? There were deadly riots over the death of a violent criminal who died doing what he did best.

If he was any good at what he was doing then he wouldn’t be dead.

Cause i wanted to.

I prefer Justinian’s response: that’s easy for you to say because there can only be one emperor but you can always find work.

I think about the new trainees who were with him. If he goes free due to overcharging and then into witness protection or something due to doxxing + threats what would you do if you were the newbies? Witnessing the political, legal, and personal fallout?

I would not show up for work and find another job…

In this economy? Better to have a state issued gun.

A more interesting hypothetical is Messi leaving Barcelona.

Because that prevented them from:

At least he will not be able to abuse or sexually assault another woman and his 6 kids are safe from him. And he gets to stand trial for his crimes and if convicted, will spend a significant amount of time in prison. Innocent until proven guilty, right? But based on previous convictions, this guy should have never been out.

And fuck the NBA and MLB. If this is the hill they want to die on, let them die. I love sports, but I don’t need them. I will live just fine without them.

According to video evidence, it looks like he was chewing another fentanyl pill. 2 MG is what has been alleged. If true, overdosing would not be hard.
I know people here like to partake and I am not against myself, but beware of Fentanyl. Not preaching, just be careful. The difference between a good buzz and lethal dose is a pretty small window.

We don’t know that, now. That doesn’t change the fact that it was unacceptable to keep a knee on the man’s neck for more than 8 minutes. Facts are facts. But the fact of a potential overdose because he consumed the drug in order not to be caught with it is something that has to be explored to its conclusion.
Chauvin should still be charged with some sort of assault or incredible stupidity, but if he is not guilty of murder then he should not be convicted of murder.
They will never get murder 2. At best manslaughter.

I don’t think that’s hypothetical.

If only the media had gone with a “Shooty but mostly routine policing after confronting alleged sex offender” narrative.

NHL too now:

NHL postpones all games Thursday, Friday after police shooting

I don’t get it, since when is political activism part of pro sports? Are all athletes and sports fans left wingers?

Police Declare Portland Protests A Riot But This Definition Could Be Rooted In Racism

Was there ever any doubt?

This is going to get awkward soon.

I’ve seen this pair of statements, together, in so many different languages and contexts, I don’t even know what to think any more. Taking any of these statements as truth is dumb enough, but simultaneously believing both has to be proof of mental disease, or at least a complete failure of education.

I am so very reluctant to get involved in this dumpster fire of a thread (I do not wish to be insulting to the participants, but I’d also rather not call a spade a “soil redistribution tool”), but it must be said that people who claim racism ended decades ago are either stupid, racist, or both. You can draw a line from the Declaration of Independence through Jim Crow and Lee Atwater to Trump’s GOP, as one example of how anti-black policies run through American history.

That so few people can connect these dots is a failure of American education. That so many adults on this forum continue to avoid acknowledging widespread injustice is a tragedy. The truth is not difficult to find.
