They were waiting on an ambulance, if I’m not mistaken.
Probably because he had a medical complaint(not able to breathe) and was requesting to lay on the ground.

Also: Does anyone believe Chauvin “pressed” his knee into Floyd’s neck? Floyd picked his head/neck up while Chauvin’s knee was on him. What kind of hulk do you think he was, picking up another grown man’s full weight (+, since Chauvin was pressing) with his neck?
Two of them were rookies, just a few days on the job. They didn’t have anymore power over the situation than the guy filming.
It doesn’t help in the fact that restraining a person by putting a knee on their neck for 9 minutes. But it’s going to make a murder 2 case extremely unlikely to survive scrutiny for Chauvin. There just does not seem to be evidence supporting the willful taking of human life, even if that was his intention. Unless more evidence comes out that shows Chauvin intended to kill Floyd, I don’t see a murder conviction coming unless it’s just a political hit job, which is possible.
I didn’t think the drugs played a difference before. Now I think they were the difference in the way it went down and he was high as fuck.
Yep, the fact those two other cops were trainees is a big deal. Does it mention how long they had been cops? I believe different PDs have different training lengths.
As for Chauvin, i also think that a jury will acquit Murder 2, and convict Murder 3/Manslaughter.
That makes kneeling on his neck seem like the worst possible idea. Can’t breathe? No problem, lay on the ground while I kneel on your neck.
Yes. Most folks who watched the video, the minneapolis PD, POTUS, the medical examiner who examined the body, etc.
But you probably know better.
As much as the left wing looks mostly insane these days, I really don’t get it why all these right wingers are trying to come up with justifications for George Floyd’s death. That does nothing to support any right wing cause or to counteract BLM. Just imagine you had a few too many drinks at a bar and they gave you a counterfeit bill with your change, anyone could end up in a similar situation.
If the whole defund movement could now just be dismissed so as to focus on how to actually (not just talk about it) help improve the quality, and/or perception, of interactions.
Can’t watch the video now… I would think the key is whether the training says to keep the knee on the neck after suspect has been cuffed, or if kneeling on the head/neck should just be used to restrain suspect while trying to cuff him.
Well, one was really green, he was 4 days on the job out of the academy and was an officer in training. The other kid was on the job for 2 weeks, he’s young, but I don’t know if it was his first job.
I don’t think you can convict on murder based on what we now know. Manslaughter, stupidity resulting in death is the best you can hope for. Unless more evidence comes out showing malicious intent. Of course, I am not a lawyer, just spit balling based on what I know from experience with the legal system.
I haven’t seen that at all. Seeing the whole video didn’t really move my needle, save from what we can expect trial-wise, on how I felt about it. The kneeling on the neck without stopping for almost 9 minutes is inexcusable whether or not the guy died.
The only thing the video does is call into question motive. Is Chauvin just a stupid dick or was he trying to cause harm? Either way he knelt on a guy’s neck for 9 minutes and that fact doesn’t change.
Haven’t seen what, people trying to justify what happened to Floyd?
There is no way to know what was going on in his head. They did work together as security at a club, I wouldn’t have been surprised to hear that there was some previous drama between them and Chauvin took the opportunity to get some revenge of sorts but there is nothing I have seen to suggest that.
The materials say to turn them onto their side in the “recovery position.” Just as the rookie asked if they should do, to which Chauvin answered in the negative.
Have to admit some concern for the new hires. They probably assumed that if something needed to be addressed later, they would be able to follow up. In the meantime, they were probably confused on their ability to accurately recall their training when a veteran is telling them something else.
Hell, right now I think those rookies are safer in jail. They’ed be skinned alive if they were out. The mob doesn’t care.
Meanwhile, Portland is still going strong. Day 69 of riots:
If everything im hearing here is accurate, I wouldn’t fault the trainees at all. Fresh and green out of academy they damn sure better listen to their grizzled veteran training officer, and if they think something was done wrong, they can report it to Internal Affairs later. No way they felt they could overrule Chauvin and intervene while they were supposed to be handeling crowd control. IMO this is squarely on Chauvin… If everything said in here has been accurate.
We are all aware that even the original time was incorrect, right?
