Geoff Capes Has Passed Away At Age 75

Man was an incredible athlete, and without him we’d never have the rivalries between him and Kaz, nor between him, Kaz and JPS.

Nor would have so many future British Champions that were inspired by him to take the title back, like Eddie Hall.

@simo74 @alex_uk And my other brothers across the pond, my condolences on this one, as I imagine it’s gotta hit hard.

Its always sad when someone who personifies giving it your all goes. He left a great legacy though.

A very sad day indeed @T3hPwnisher. Geoff was a true athlete and inspired so many British people to want to be strong.
Geoff is one of my earliest strength influences, I remember sitting with my dad and watching him win his first WSM show back in 1983. He became a legend in the UK and his WSM and other Highland Games and strongman battles with the likes of Kaz and Jean Paul S, were followed by the whole country. Geoff was such a household name back then he was doing TV adverts for companies like Volkswagen.

Rest in peace Big Geoff and thankyou.

This just goes to show how important he was to British strength culture. No one is making Eddie Hall video games.

This is very sad to hear. I was just watching him compete with Jon Pall Sigmarsson in some 80s WSM uploads the other day. RIP to a true legend.

This is sad news. I saw him a few times at the Highland Games and he always seemed a genuinely nice guy.
