Geeked Up

Beginning of my first proper log. A big day.

Suppose I should lay down some informacíon about myself.

Height: 5’10
Weight: 90kg

1RM’s.

Deadlift: 197.5kg; 245kg (trap bar)
Squat: 175kg
Bench: 150kg
Overhead-press: 85kg

I’ve been training for about 3 years now, mostly conditioning or explosive work for rugby, but now venturing into the world of pure strength training. Under the tutelage of SamMcLoughlin, I’m starting 5/3/1. So here’s to what is hopefully going to be a year of gains. First session in the morning.

Ok. So the first session (Squat) was tough, but got through it in the end with the help of of training partner Sam McLarge-in. Didn’t get any sleep last night but I’m not sure if it hindered me too much.

Squat 5/3/1: 97.5kg x 7, 105kg x 5, 122.5kg x 13.
Assisstance; Deadlift: 4 x 10+1 x 12 @ 125kg
Ab-wheel: 5x10.

Middle section is sore as f*ck, but only spells gains. Looking forward to waking up to tomorrow’s DOMS.

Over-head Press:

35kg x 5
42.5kg x 5
47.5kg x 16 (Volume PR)

Assisstance:

Bench-press: 5 x 10 @ 100kg

Lat-pull downs: 5 x 10 @ 80kg

Note: Good starting session for overhead press. Trying to keep form strict. Delighted with the reps on my working set. Assisstance work was tough going, but managed to rep out on the bench. Forearms where f*cked after the lat pulls. Onwards and upwards.
