Anyone hear rumors about Half Life 2: Episode 3 ?
Shit man I just got the Orange Box.
Amidst college papers, text books, and genkoyooshi (kanji writing) paper all over my room I just happened to wonder, “What happened to Gordon Freeman when that old white guy stopped time at the end of Half-Life 2?” Did you like Episodes 1 and 2?
Episode 2 is a lot better than episode 1. More fun and a larger variety of environments/situations. Episode 1 is kind of boring.
Also, the level designers stuck in way too many insta-death traps that are undetectable in advance. So, no matter how good you might be at games, it goes down like this:
- Walking down tunnel/cave/hallway/whatever
- Random mine explodes
- Instadeath
- Reload
- Dodge random mine explosion 1 since you know about it now
- Still walking down tunnel/cave/hallway/whatever
- Random barrel explosion
- Reload
- Dodge random mine explosion then random barrel explosion since you know where they are
- Rinse and repeat
It feels like the whole game is two steps forward, one step back. Gets kind of old.
Episode 2 is nothing like that. If you’re good at fps, you can shoot/strat your way out of most situations the first time. It’s a lot more like the original hl2 and a lot more fun.[/quote]
Yep, Episode 1 was basically Half-Life 1.5. Episode 2, on the other hand, was pretty intense and challenging.

That epic Strider fight at the end of the game was EXTREMELY difficult on the hardest level, at least for me. It just got insane at one point… it took me quite a few tries.

Just to spark some discussion, what would everyone put as some of their hardest moments in gaming? I’d say either the Ruby or Emerald Weapons in Final Fantasy VII, the Kurt Zisa fight on Hard mode in Kingdom Hearts, or the final four or so levels of Ninja Gaiden for XBox on its hardest difficulty.
