Geek S**T

My beloved now decommissioned Frankenbox. Ultimate ghetto rig, refrigerated water cooled, dual power supply, heavy voltage modded bench monster that once struck fear into the hearts of performance computing enthusiasts everywhere.

LOL.

At least 89% geekage.

Justice League was classic. I think there are still those who don’t give animated shows any credit because they label them all as “child media”.

yea this annoys me, because there are so many awesome animated movies whose depth and themes rival that of about 90% of hollywood fluff
anyone else seen appleseed?

also is ghost in a shell worth checking out?

Gothic3 sooo trumps Oblivion/Morrowind.

Much more immersive
Practically every ounce of graphical content is hand placed
character curse, swear and the factions aren’t black or white
etc…

so im pretty fucking skeptical of this… i dont even know how a game could be more immersive than Oblilvion
what system is Gothic3 for?

another cool one is two worlds, not as in depth as oblivion, but the combat system is better and faster and the loading times are very reasonable

I would recommend DLing a demo of gothic 3 before buying it. I thought it was very poorly done and felt more like playing an MMO than playing an RPG. If you like two worlds, though, you may like gothic 3; I personally hated two worlds as well

As for true geek news, we have Age of Conan on the horizon, which I will most certainly be playing. Anyone else thinking of getting it once it comes out?

Also, I just ordered the new super smash brothers, and will be playing it liberally once my midterms are over.

Ghost in the Shell is absolutely brilliant.

I bought a copy immediately upon seeing it the first time. The sequels have been decent, but nowhere near as good as the first.

Overspecialize and breed in weakness…

I want to see the Black Panther comics made into a movie. Does anyone remember the Christopher Priest series through Marvel comics?

I also love 2000AD comics.

On computer games does anyone play Diablo 2, Starcraft or Age of Empires 3? All very good games. I think I will buy God of War now seeing as Professor X keep’s going on about how excellent it is.

That movie is classic…what the Matrix should have been(and inspired by). The Stand Alone Complex series are worth it,too. I have seasons 1 and 2 boxsets.

I like David Byrne.

The only reason I held out on getting a PS3…its finally coming June 12th. Currently trying to pre-order/reserve the bundle pack w/game and Dual Shock 3 controller.

Ok,Prof.X…assess my geek percentage so far?? I’m trying to stay reasonable and not over do it.

Huge video game/movie geek. I think there’s something about geeks and perfectionism that lends itself to bodybuilding/athletics very well, as shown by how many people on a site like this have some sort of nerd based guilty pleasure.

I’m a huge fan of FPS(play a lot of CoD4) but lately it’s been all about Audiosurf, best 10 dollar game ever.

…and has anyone heard of a movie based on Kratos in GOW?

Thank you. I think Djimon would be a decent choice, but hopefully someone in Hollywood is even more physically intimidating.[/quote]

I had read that Vin Diesel was going to play Kratos.Djimon would be a good choice but his voice doesn’t fit the character, then agian vin’s voice might not either.

Why did you have to go and post that? The ads for Devil May Cry 4 were already too much temptation to buy a PS3, and now this pushed me over the edge. Thanks a bunch…

Depending on the script and such you could start looking outside of your typical actors, since acting chops could probably afford to take a hit to get the look of the Kratos role right(wrestlers and such). Otherwise there really aren’t a lot of big guys in hollywood right now, Jason Statham, Vin Diesel, best bet might be to go with the character actors like Bale that will go crazy and add 50 pounds to give a role justice(he’s pretty popular though so good luck booking that one.)

So…I’m a music geek.

I play the tuba. I own my own. I never borrowed one from school, bought my own. It was silver (gold plated mouthpiece) and cost almost $9000 retail. I paid about $4500.

I confess that I like Full Metal Alchemist…alot.

I watch quite a bit of animated things, mostly on Adult Swim. My favorite being The Venture Brothers, (I admire Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer tremendously) of which I got my namesake. I like Home Movies, Metalocalypse, basically everything Brendan Small takes part in creating seems to put a big fat smile on my face. My ideal life would put me in music, but short of that…being part of a writing crew creating a show for Adult Swim would be a dream job.

I don’t know if that makes me some sort of geek half breed, but I sure as hell don’t find much common ground for discussion with the Coach purse crowd.
