The Avengers are currently (I believe):

Iron Man, Capt. America, Wolverine, Storm, Spider-man (subbing for ant-man), The Hulk, and possibly Thor.

Depends on the comic/version.

The most likely for a X-over movie, IMO, are:
Iron Man, Wolverine, Capt. America, and Spider Man.

I don’t think Thor will gain enough steam. As for The Hulk, both of the new movies don’t portray him in a super-heroish light, or so it seems. Banner is more like a man trying to control his inner-demon, than someone who wants to use his power for heroics ALL the time.

That’s the same way he is portrayed in the comics now. He isn’t really a super hero anymore but someone on the run. He’s killed innocent people now and destroyed cities.

The current Avengers include Spiderman, Luke Cage, Spider-Woman, Iron-Man, Captain America, Wolverine and Ms Marvel.

They’ve updated a lot of things from the older comics. It is the only reason I pay attention to it. Thor is dead…for now. the fact that they used Nick Fury from the newer series hints they are moving in this newer direction (even though they could add in Thor before he dies easily).

Those more into this shit would know more though.

My friend…Thor is NOT dead anymore. His title has returned, and he is more bad-assed than ever.

The Nick Fury in the movie is the Ultimate Universe Nick Fury. This means Marvel is trying to introduce the Ultimates Universe version to the mainstream, not their “real” universe which is dubbed the 616 universe.

Thor is my favorite character. I hate the fact that the Ultimates version of Thor is a real pansie. I blame Quesada for bastaardizing or allowing the bastaardization of Marvel comics history and destroying some of the continuity. This helps with marketing to newer generations, but hardcore comics folks like me detest it.
I don’t care for the Ultimate line from Marvel, the story’s are 12 issues of talking and then 1 issue of action ho-hum. Plus the stuff they did to Hank Pym is fucked up, I think irt was more shocking in the early 80’s where he slaps Jan that one time, than that whole beat down they did in The Ultimates, Bendis has issues.
As far as an Avenger’s film maybe they’ll do Captain America leading into an Avenger’s movie. Have the film end with Cap going into the water and freezing, then having an already formed Avenger’s team find him ala issue 4.

Dude…superhero spousal abuse is some interesting shit.

Yeah but that issue in the early 200’s where as Yellowjacket he just belts her and her showing up at the mansion in sunglasses etc is more powerful than being chased by a can of raid.[/quote]

You know he kills himself in that animated Avengers movie (for the good of everyone else)? She was leaving him anyway.

Yeah which is a shame because as far as characters go he’s as smart as Banner, Stark, and Richards and he’s come up with more gimmicks than them, antman, giant man, goliath(bigger giant man), yellowjacket, than Hank Pym adventurer where he would shrink objects to use like a shuttle or a laser. Plus he created Ultron, which led to the creation of the Vision.

Whatever title Bendis writes, especially in the 616 universe, I cringe. Did you know at a comics convention last year he (Bendis) was asked about a battle between Sentry and Thor, who would win? Bendis did not hesitate in saying Sentry would mop the floor up with Thor, and he went on further to say he really doesn’t like the Thor character anyways.

Utter sacriledge to me! Bendis…my man…you are the ENEMY!!! lol!

Doesn’t the Sentry actually control reality? I think he is portrayed as so powerful, he is now crazy because of it.

Ironman was(is) the shit…seen it twice since yesterday…that is what a Marvel superhero movie is supposed to be.

Maybe this is the difference with Marvel Studios actually producing the movies…and Paramount only distributing them.

Oh,and William Hurt(General Thunderbolt Ross)has already spilled the beans during an interview about his “scene” with Robert Downey,Jr. in The Incredible Hulk.

Yes, Sentry does have that capability. And his craziness has spawned another powerful entity: the Void which is also tremendously powerful.

You know that the Hulk and Sentry had a recent throwdown in World War Hulk? Basically they fought to a standstill; both exerting everything they got against one another.

Now there is a Red Hulk…no one quite knows yet who he is, but this Hulk appears to definitely not want to have anything to do with Banner and may be the most powerful incarnation of the Hulk to date. With the Red Hulk, he is apparently going to get so strong that he bends reality with it. He will do crazy stuff like literally driving the Juggernaut backwards…something that is supposed to be impossible in the 616 universe.

Ah, a fellow Asgardian worshipper!

Yes, I remember all of that…and I remember all the way back in the 70’s dude. I have followed comics since then. Marvel mostly.

Thor was orginally supposed to be at least the Hulk’s equal, if not stronger. That was Stan Lee’s intent from the beginning.

lol!

DC is getting pretty wild too dude. Consider this mess with the infinite universes and Infinite Crisis. Of all this mess was spawned what I think is one of the most interesting characters to date: Superman Prime.

Here is a Superman that is so bad assed that it takes basically all the superheros to “almost” defeat him (yes! He is a bad guy!). He’s a little too whiny for me though, always complaining about something. But he is bad ass, no question about that.

I am not sure if this falls under true geek, but I thought it was fairly cool.

Nine Inch Nails is offering its new album as a 100% free download from their web site:

You can get it in just about any format you like. I opted for MP3 and the bit rate is anywhere from low to upper 200’s. Not too shabby.

This post is to Buff and every other Asgard fan. I have a story to tell, so forgive me for my length.

Group of guys were talking in a small gaming center and comics were brought up. Someone mentioned Wolverine and I said he was overrated and everyone rides his dick. Somehow Thor was brought up and the guys said Wolverine would beat Thor in a fight. So I had all the guys in the room take a vote. At least 5 votes for Wolverine, one vote for Thor. There might be another Thor vote besides me, but I was the ONLY one defending Thor.

Anyway, I argued with one main idiot for at least an hour about how Thor would whoop his Wolvie’s ass. He never really read comics and was going off the movie. He even called Thor gay cause of the long hair. It was heated, my friends. But we all knew each other, so its like any other argument. But I was adamant about how Thor got so much pussy, has better villains (Wrecking Crew, Absorbing Man, Celestial, ASGARD!!!), and that Thor fought all the villains of the Secret Wars by himself while Invisible Woman and Hulk held up a mountain to protect the heroes from being crushed. I gave this mother fucker specific examples of how bad ass Thor was.

You know what his reply was “When has Wolverine ever died?” or “He fought the Hulk one on one” or “If you punch wolverine, he can automatically heal”. I couldn’t remember off the top of my head how many times Wolvie has died. Mainly cause I don’t like him as much as others. But I know damn well that Wolvie has had his ass handed to him by regular ninjas. They keep talking about his adamantium skeleton and his blades. I said “My skeleton could be made of adamantium, but if a fucking freight train hit me, I’m fucked up. Now imagine if that freight train hit with combinations and had a hammer that hit EVEN HARDER.” By myself, I was keeping the discussion even, but there so many Wolverine dick riders that it was tough.

But then I had two guys who actually read comic books come on and help me shut that shit down.

Sorry for the length of this, but so many people hate on Thor and deep throat Wolverine.

Did anyone go to free comic book day this past weekend? Free Comic Book Day - Wikipedia

Thanks, Buff. I’m not sure what else to say in this thread.

For those who don’t know who Thor is or forgot, here you go:

The 4400 Season Four is now out on dvd.

That wsa a beautiful issue, Iron Man wants Thor to sign on to the inititive and Thor procedes to cockslap the alcoholic until he Stark yields and gives him diplomatic immunity

Wolverine died in Uncanny Annual 6 or 7, Capt britian guest stars. They are fighting a creature who gives the X-Men their greatest wish then killing them, Wolverine and Storm kiss, and the creature kills wolverine but a drop of blood touches the monster’s crystal and he is regenerated from that.

I’m happy Marvel has decided to de power Wolverine to where he’ll heal but not as quick and mortal wounds are fatal. Similar to the late 80’s where he get’s beaten and crucified by the Reavers and even when he pops his claws he bleeds for awhile

Good. Off topic, but did they ever replace Captain America or is Steve Rogers alive? I hope he’s alive.
