Let’s hope I don’t play video games and movie going has turned into an “experience” lately. I can’t stand the people who talk, or get phone calls on their phones(all phones have a silent use it)[/quote]

Doubtful, because either the most hardcore gamers will have beaten it by then (if they haven’t already today), or going out to see the movie will be a nice break.
That being said, I need to get off my ass and finally get my PS3. GTAIV is out and Metal Gear is just around the corner.
Oh, speaking of Metal Gear…
My two wishes for this film are:
Kurt Wimmer doesn’t turn it into a cartoon like he did with Ultraviolet, or use the same shot list from Equilibrium for the 3rd time. Basically Kurt, don’t fuck it up.
The rumors that Viggo Mortensen playing Solid Snake are true.

I really don’t think that is possible in only one day…at least not while actually enjoying it. They claim to have added greater AI in the random people on the street so that they don’t act like cookie cut-outs with the same responses like in the last one. That would mean days could be lost playing this game just walking around in the city.
Gamers who do shit like that make me think they have mental issues.

They’ve also apparently changed the way missions work to cause the game to be even more open-ended (I didn’t think that was even possible). I am intrigued by the multi-player concept as well. For me, there is also a lot of fun in figuring out who all the celebrity voices are in the game.
I face a geek dilemma - Do I lay off from playing WoW for a while to play GTA IV? Decisions, decisions…

No way… real “hardcore” gamers go through that shit and get 100%. I’m not sure if you’ve ever tried, but getting 100% on GTA San Andreas takes a really, really, really, really, (I could go on and on) long time.
I picked it up last night and what is really going to make beating the game take even longer is the amount of depth that is in the multiplayer missions. It’s sooo much fun.
This may knock me up a few pegs on the “geek” level, and perhaps even the “ghey” level, but does anyone else like [love] Harry Potter? I’m actually re-reading through the series now, so the last book makes a bit more sense to me. It HAS been like 10 years since I read the first few…
figured I’d chime in with a few things that might pique the interests of the gamers in this thread.
I just bought The World Ends With You for DS, and I have loved every minute of it. It’s the first game I’ve played in a long time that is really challenging due to there being real time battles on both screens that you have to control. The only downfall may be that it’s short, but I haven’t beaten it yet, so who knows?
It seems like there are more PSP than DS fans in this thread, so I figured I’d put something here for them too. Final Fantasy Tactics was my all time favorite game for the original playstation; I’ve beaten it at least 4 times and I loved every minute of it. The story is fantastic; its only downfall may be that there are too many characters, which sort of bogs you down unless you actually read some of their profiles or play the game through more than once. The biggest thing that drew me in was how you can develop your team. You start the game off with a handful of weak, generic characters, but as the game progresses, you can branch them off into different classes so that by the time you’ve reached the end of the game, you’ve got your a squad of fighters that perfectly suits your taste.

1 through 5 are awesome. 5’s ending sets him up perfectly to start coming into his own and manning up. And he proceeds to bitch out and flake in 6. 6 was a horrendous piece of garbage, and Ginny is a horrible Mary-Sue of a character. 7 was alright, besides JKR flipping her morals entirely, and the fact that Hermione did EVERYTHING except wipe our heroes ass (I hope).

Some of the fanfiction here is hundreds of times better than the last two books. Not as well written (usually), but better plot wise, character wise, and of course, darkness wise.
There is no slash (gay fics) at DLP.
(Yes, I’m a fucking nerd. Don’t care.)
On another note entirely; Iron Man comes out on Friday and I’m fucking stoked.

I’ve read books 4-7 multiple times, mostly so I could remember what happened when the movies come out. Then I’m disappointed when they change stuff I like, such as the very end of Goblet of Fire.
I’d love to get my hands on one of the handmade copies of “The Tales of Beedle the Bard”, but unfortunately I don’t have in excess of $2million lying around.

The Greatness that is May 08
Iron Man, May 2
Speed Racer, May 9
Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, May 16
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, May 22
Not real sure about Speed Racer. I was really excited when I found out they were making it, but when I saw the first trailer I wasnt to sure what to think. But I am definitely going to see the others. But its going to be a long summer
Nice, it’s good to a see a few people on the Potter express. I did like how the series ended up, but I’ll definitely check out that site, Beowolf. I’ve tried getting into a little bit of fanfiction but it turned out to be Dean and Harry having gay sex and then Ginny coming in doing strange, odd, god-aweful things to both boys. That’s when I started steering clear of the fan-fiction a bit.
And I do agree Doug, they do change too much shit in the movies. I know it’s hard to cram all the stuff into them, but I’m sure HP fans are willing to sit through a longer movie it’s more accurate and reflective of the original story. Take the newest movie, what a fucking turd-sandwich that was. The longest book equates to the shortest movie? I don’t think so! I heard they’ve signed that same director for #6, too, which really pisses me off, because they juggle through a different director every movie. I swear, if he fucks this one up…

I agree… I wasn’t really looking forward to this until I found out A.) The Wachowski brothers are doing it, and B.) Emile Hirsch is in it, and I think he’s a pretty solid young actor. (Into the Wilderness was really good…) If nothing else, the movie should provide a good amount of visual flair.

The more I read about it, the more I am willing to give it a chance.

Errr… if you enjoyed the epilogue, steer clear of DLP :P. Ginny is on par with gay sex on the GTFO level over there.
