Wol, are Thor’s nutz “god flavored”?
You’ll never know, non-believer. You have fun watching Superman returns. I loved the part where Kumar shanks Superman.
You have fun watching X-Men. I loved the part where Sabretooth is portrayed as a dumb lug henchman. Have even more fun watching Wolverine where they got rid of Tyler Mane (contrary to popular belief, he’s a perfectly good actor based on his role in Troy) and cast Liev Schreiber because he wanted to play Creed, not Stryker, then tried to explain the change by saying that a supposedly bloodthirsty killer embraced his wild side and devolved/ evolved into the aforementioned dumb lug henchman we see in X-Men…who doesn’t actually kill anyone.
Yep, Fox studios butchered my Sabretooth character. Just like Kumar butchered Superman. I’m surprised he didn’t rape him too. Superman was screaming like a bitch.
Fox can’t reboot their way out of this one. Singer helmed both movies. Technically, Man of Steel is the first Superman reboot and Russell Crowe seems to have a knack for choosing good movies. That’s a very good sign that he’d agree to play Jor-El.

It isn’t about Marvel vs. DC. I hate shitty comic book adaptations with a passion because they’ve taken graphic novels, turned 'em into Oscar nominated movies (A History of Violence; Road to Perdition) but people generally don’t see these as comic book movies because there are no “costumes” and no “powers”.

P.S. David Cronenberg would own a Punisher movie.
Why David Cronenberg?
A History of Violence, The Fly, Eastern Promises…
But do you really believe that Frank Castle has enough substance to be made into a movie of such high quality? They’ve had three attempts and none have met expectations.

Action: First and Third
Drama: Second
Frank Castle’s insane drive: First and Third

I don’t its possible.
It’s all there in the comics. They overlook substance when they just see the costume. How can any decades old character not have substance? Cronenberg could do it because it’s his style and he’s successfully adapted a graphic novel without most people knowing it was a GN (see the clips I added to my last post).
Good point. I wish I had better Punisher questions for you.

Where’s Prof X when you need him.
The clips didn’t take. I’m talking about the Cafe scene in A History of Violence and the Turkish bath house scene in Eastern Promises.

If The Punisher hits the small screen it should be through HBO, not Fox.
I have to be honest, I prefer the Punisher movies over this.
Wol, have you seen A History of Violence and Eastern Promises? I ask because violent movies don’t always depict violence in the same way. I’m not one for wall to wall violence - I prefer moments of intense, concentrated action. That’s why I like Cronenberg’s use of violence and Frank Castle’s encounters with Harry Heck and the Russian in Punisher 2004.

Should a live-action Punisher be about Castle shooting everything in sight, or should they build the bad guys up and keep Castle in the shadows?
I’ve watched A history of Violence in theaters and it was a good movie. Haven’t seen Eastern Promises. When I think of Punisher, I imagine this:

Punisher is violent, unforgiving, and relentless. I think most people think of Punisher like that.

But in all honesty, I don’t read many Punisher comics. So yes, my view is limited.

Does Dexter do anything bad ass? Can he rappel into a room full of criminals and kill them all?

I think not.

Ok, why is Jax on dexter, why is he so small, and why aren’t his arms metal?

I thought he was you, except too small.

“DON’T LIE DO YOU FLOSS MUTHAFUCKA”

my favorite quote from Dexter is from Doakes

FREEZE MOTHER FUCKER!

Someone explain Dexter to me and why is he liked? He seems like a preppy douchebag who’s found an easy way of being a serial killer.

HA, OH man Kumar !
It’s only funny because it’s true
Yeah, same way that apparently a tearful speech is all it takes to defeat The Sandman.
Kumar shanked a man who could move planets and bested Darkseid in combat.
I think you got the wrong Superman. The one you’re talking about flew around the world so fast that the Earth started rotating backwards and time reversed. Then he fought a metallic nurse, and later he stopped General Zod and Zod’s groupies from conquering the Earth. Finally Supes banged a few hot chicks, had knock down drag out fight with his alter eo and defeated a guy powered by nuclear energy. I gues you could argue he moved a planet, but he never met Darkseid.

Honestly I’m too lazy to look up the old thread, but Mike Meyers the mentally handicap Superman fan who had his collection stolen by a scum bag and his crack whore, then returned donated some of the items that where given to him to a children’s hospital. This story warmed even my blackened dead heart and I shed a little tear for the happiness this man gave to those sick children sort of gives me hope for humanity

You know Superman returns happened, Bujo. You can’t deny it.

Superman Returns was a bad dream we all had. It never actually happened. Something hippies did in the 60’s is still in the water.

Just stop it, Wol. Bringing up that movie is nothing more than emotional abuse…and we won’t take it anymore.

I thought the Superman franchise ended with Superman 2? Those are some old movies.

All due respect to the old Supes. I must be the only one that hated all 3 or 4 of the original superman movies. They all came across as Live Action 70’s cartoons. The Bad Guy was more comical than anything else.

The FIRST Superman movie is one we should all praise…because it is the first time they even attempted a realistic look at an idea like that. Remember, all we had before that was the 1960’s Batman.

Without that movie, there would be no Dark Knight right now and most of this shit would still be just for kids.

The first two where filmed together and the scene where Reeve “burns” his hand and does the whole takes off glasses to reveal he is superman shows both Reeve was great underrated actor, and Donner knew how to set up a scene

The first two movies were a work of art. I don’t remember the first, but my parents took me to the second. You left the movie feeling like that shit was possible. It was a pioneer as far as story telling for a concept that is basically fantasy.

People shouldn’t judge something like that by 2011 standards.

It is why we see things the way we do now.

I appreciate the attempt but I just did not like the movie. The only part I felt they got right was the helicopter scene. It showed Superman go from Clark to Supes in way they never got right again.

Its amazing they got right what they did on the first movie. IF you ever get a chance to see the extended making of vids look them up. They didn’t even know how to go about superman. They had him as a wizard in a couple first drafts.

Uh, dude, that’s the point. Nitpicking what they did when what they did stood as a benchmark for everything afterwards is just wrong.

The first Batman movie was only taken seriously because of Superman.

When did you watch the movie? last week?
