True. However, I do believe watching a interview that the “main” guy was saying there will be very little difference between PC to platform (if I recall correctly). Watching the beta trail online it looks pretty impressive but not as impressive as the computer leak a couple weeks ago.[/quote]

The vid posted in here looks stripped down already (wall textures etc). Just from watching that, provided that the programmers did a better job this time than they did with the original crysis in terms of actually using the available hardware properly and not making such a clumsy engine (beautiful it may be, but nevertheless required far more hardware power than it should have… Esp. compared to how they approached the original far cry), I think that may well be very close to what the console guys are going to get in the end.

Reminds me a bit of the current F.E.A.R. engine though (is that even called fear engine?) in the way the physics are handled, and how the wall destruction etc works, many of the effects, the somewhat bland interiors/walls…

That machine cannon or whatever it is looks sweet. Speed up the ROF and increase the spread and that would be one bad-ass gun. Probably will be anyway. That’s what I’m talking about when I mention how guns should feel in games… By comparison, Bulletstorm’s weapons (those I got to see) were boring as hell.

Don’t like the smoke-trails/tracers much though on some of the guns. Again reminds me of a bullet-time game like FEAR. In the original crysis, bullet physics seemed kind of odd, as in a soldier could strafe from left to right about 8 meters in front of you and firing at him directly with the assault rifle would cause you to miss. You’d have to lead the target (from that distance?) to hit.

(spoilers ahead)

Enemies also took way too many hits all things considered. The levels were you got to fight some of the alien flying things after the ship where prophet gives you the alien gun… Those were annoying as fuck… It overheats all the time, but there’s no way to quickly kill enemies with it… And there’s a ton of them… Just plain wasting the players time with that kind of stuff.

(end spoilers)

Now assuming that the new crysis will be better in that regard, then hell yeah!
Seems like it from the vid.
Always loved the sneaky parts (minus the energy running out too fast), esp. against other power suits.

Just picked up All Star Superman dvd, decent a little dissapointed in they didn’t have Bizarro and Morrisson’s DC 1000000 Superman who both made appearences in maxi series. Worth a buy if you’re a comic nerd like myself extras on the DVD include interview with Morrisson 2 episodes of the Bruce Timm Superman and a first look at Green Lantern First Light.

Rented Two Worlds Two.

Terrible.

Do not buy Two Worlds Two.

^ Thanks took you long enough.

Did you buy Killzone?

Finally I’ve got some free time…here we go!

Am I the only one not seeing pictures?

Nah it’s been like that for a while now. I believe the mods are working on it.

Sporting some major wood now.

I’m with you on the aliens taking forever to kill and that they’re incredibly annoying. They were pretty much the same (maybe worse) in Crysis Warhead. The aliens spoiled the game for me, but I’m not a fan of killing aliens in a FPS in general unless they’re massive and you take them down brutally and messy. Killing humans is much more fun
So I hope they make that part of the game better as well.

--------------Spoiler Cyrsis Warhead--------------------

The buggy/car chase level wasn’t necessary, so I hope there’s no of that as well.

--------------End Spoiler------------------

It will be interesting to see if the game has as much of an impact as the original, in regards to the graphics etc. Crysis was way ahead of it’s time (graphically)

That is dissapointing.

I heard there isn’t any free roaming, after all the hype about the game being about massive exploration etc. Is this true?

I probably should have given more details, my bad. The memories are still so fresh in my mind that my bitterness hasn’t subsided.

The graphics are decent, as long as you don’t mind entire buildings and scenery popping up out of nowhere. This is especially bad when you’re riding a horse. Err…TRYING to ride a horse at least. It turns so sharply you often ride in circles and you have to continuously pump the left trigger to make it run. Once you get a horse, don’t lose it, because the “Call Horse” button doesn’t work. At all. Just…broken.

The voice acting…cripes. So bad.

This is actually a really flattering clip of the dialogue. Typically there’s more dangerously cheesy one liners. Also, the volume is inconsistent. I had the volume cranked up to 11 to hear my mush mouth protagonist when The Prophet damn near blew out my speakers. And some sections of dialogue and text are in a completely different language. And no, that’s not for effect.

Your best bet is to mute the game if you’re a magic caster, because the hero either recites the four elements (lest he forget) or reads his grocery list in Arabic while tossing fireballs.

The journal for tracking quests has no rhyme or reason. It doesn’t give you any other info then “I talked to X. I have to Y.” I still don’t know what the plot of the game is. I just follow map markers and then go make a sandwich while the characters make noises about gondahors and hatmandors. no thanks.

Combat looks like they motion captured two Alzheimer’s sufferers being stung by hornets. My favorite is when the game goes into super slo mo as you swing your axe at a rock 30ft from the enemy you’re fighting. The jump attack typically throws you past your opponent and into the woods somewhere. You can equip a shield but don’t try to block with it (you can’t) because you’ll just get your dick punched in.

Although, chances are you already got your ass kicked by some high level enemy you stumbled across, because trial and error is the only way to figure out what level an enemy is. Save often. And if you see a giant ant, just run away, apparently they’re invincible.

Now obviously if you can’t wait a couple months for Skyrim and you really need your single player rpg fix then by all means pick it up. While calling this game a diamond in the rough is speaking a little too highly of Two Worlds Two, it’s at least a quartz or maybe even an amethyst in the rough. The very rough.

Like, miles and miles of rough, and then finally after your million dollar mining operation you find one garnet in a pile of fossilized stegosaurus poop.

Or play The Witcher II, or Dragon Age II, both of which come out next month. The story, quests, and world of The Witcher were fantastic. the combat left much top be desired, but I believe they are ironing that out in the new release. Also, the Dragon Age II demo launched on Steam today. Its pretty awesome. The game is now hilariously gory, with darkspawn popping like bloody water balloons when blasted with spells. The combat is nice, now that they canned the shitty charge ups. The mage was the most fun in the demo, as spamming fireball was just glorious.

Yuk, it sounds terrible. But for some reason I want to hire it now, for laughs.
It boggles the mind how developers release games that are so fraked up.
Thanks for writing this, it was well written and that video is ridiculous.

I was thinking the same thing.
I have high hopes for the Witcher II, it has alot of potential. I definitely agree with your comments regarding the game.

Really looking forward to Dragon Age 2 as well, nice to know that the mages are still fun to use (I hope there’s no ‘fade’ in DA2). Also especially interested in how the decisions made in the first one (you know what I’m talking about coughDemon Childcough) transfer over.

The New Total War comes out in 2 weeks.

I shall crush my enemies with my superior strategic skills.

Though I liked the Rome version, there I just crushed them with my elephants.

It felt like it got the Mass Effect treatment, combat’s a lot faster and I don’t really like having to spam buttons all the goddamn time in combat, I press attack, go attack and keep attacking, don’t stand there like a 'tard.

I played through the demo a few times and it’s grown on me, but it feels very foreign despite everything being setup in a very similar fashion.

Now…rant:

  1. FUCK YOU KINECT. Seriously. I could not find a new 360 250gb ANYWHERE in town. I found 20 fucking Kinect/250gb bundles. I don’t want a Kinect, I just want an Xbox, pull the kinect out of the goddamn box and throw that gimmicky movement game shit in the trash where it belongs.

  2. Who in the fuck ever thought releasing a 4gb xbox was cool? You can’t do shit with 4gb, and the next step up? Something reasonable like 50, 100? NO, it goes straight to Goddamn-I’ll-Never-Need-That-Much-Space-250gb.

  3. And since WHEN does the Xbox NOT come bundled with HD cables? I shit you not, it had only cables for standard def. Fortunately my old cables work, ya know…the ones that were standard with the 360 3 years ago, these get it up to 720p, which is enough.

  4. Why in the name of all that’s lame do I need to get my own goddamn box for a 360 repair? Seriously? You assholes are that cheap that you won’t send me a CARDBOARD BOX? 2 years ago when I repaired my console, they sent me a box, everything was smooth as a baby’s ass…except for the 4 weeks it took to repair and get back to me.

  5. When I DID place an order to repair it and subsequently changed my mind it took 45 minutes to get my order canceled because I got fucking “Mike” who didn’t do shit for me except tell me he had to transfer me to an “Escalation Specialist.” 4 Bumbled call transfers later I finally get my goddamn order canned. This was on top of being barely intelligible.

I am truly astonished at the lack of service to the customer and care for their consumers. It’s been a while since I had to deal directly with Microsoft, but Jesus.

Holy shit Skyrim:

Some random cliffs:
-Dual wielding weapons
-Improved AI/Conversation (I wasn’t particularly impressed with TESIV, but meh)
-Open cities (dragon attacks or something)
-BEARDS

That’s a fragglenaggle of a lot of new features. This, Dragon Age 2, and Mass Effect 3 is going to make this year a lot of fun as far as RPG gaming goes.

One thing I am slightly worried about is that the plethora of features they’re dumping in will make the game feel like “work” (my gripe with Read Dead Redemption…) rather than improve the immersion.

In any case, I am hugely excited about this, and this, among other games, is making me consider buying a full-sized desktop, so I can enjoy the game without burning my fingertips.
