^ Does that mean the WW movie has been shelved?
Not really sure. It looks like there’s conflicting info all over the place, talking about a movie possibly in 2013 or 2015 with all sorts of people working on all sorts of scripts. So yeah, or no.
Ah, well. A ‘maybe’ is better than a ‘no way’ and I guess that the development of a series doesn’t necessarily mean that the movie is no more.
Continuing on the the superhero theme, apparently Shane Black is close to signing on to direct Iron Man 3. He’s still in talks, even though some sites are jumping the gun to be the first to announce his sealing the deal.

Does anyone own a Nintendo DS/i/lite etc?
Would you recommended owning one?
I’m thinking about buying one, mainly for the good number of rpg’s that have been released + the adventure/puzzles that are available. (Castlevania, Valkyrie, FF, Dragon Quest).
They’re also pretty cheap atm.

I have a DSi, I got it because I was starting to travel back and forth to Europe from the US about 4 times a year for my PhD and can’t read that long on a plane. Totally worth it.
I’ve played all the Castelvania games and they are, IMO, some of the best in the series. The RPGs are wonderful, the sound is much better than I would have guessed. I’ve done FFIV and Tactics both were great and DQ is a blast, oh and I just finished Chrono Trigger on the last trip if you like the older games (which are ususally decently updated for this system).
There’s other games that are staples like Mario Kart that you can get really good at in 10 minutes but take a long time to master. It also has one of my all time favorite games: Geometry Wars.
Some do a really great job of incorporating the stylus but others, not so much. Overall it’s a great system that is relatively inexpensive and games are cheap, too. Especially if you get used ones. Battery life is good and you can carry it with you without it being too cumbersome.
I don’t have any consoles because I have a terribly small TV and I don’t think it would be worth it (besides I’ve still got a modded Xbox with about 25 games that I haven’t even touched yet on it…).
Hope this helps.

Dude I am so pumped! Plus I’ve got bulletstorm on the way from gamefly. I’m not getting shit done this week that’s for sure.
I was really unsure on bulletstorm. I tend to like campaign games, I just dont have the time to do the online gaming. And this game struck me as more online than anything.
That console is either really showing it’s age, or the programmers did put enough work into the graphics… Apart from some stupid clipping and model bugs, everything looked years old to me. As in, no great use of shaders and bump-mapping (what edition of the unreal engine is this now?), effects again with clipping issues but also just sort of… Second rate… Immersion breaking etc.
Shame, because overall it seemed pretty cool. Nice banter between the chars in the tutorial.
Weapon feeling (only got to see the basic weapon and the physique-based one, plus the almighty boot of course) seemed gear’s-ish when it came to the rifle… Not like you’re holding something that’s actually powerful and damaging. I dunno.
DJHT Bulletstorm single-player seemed alright, but I have no idea how long the campaign is etc… It also seems to be all stuff you’ve done/seen a million times before, possibly with better graphics and “feel” to the weapons, too.

Couldn’t disagree more. While I’m not interested in the scoring-based gameplay of the game at all, it easily rivals the top games on both consoles in terms of visuals. Sure, individual aspects might not be as good as other indiviual aspects of other games, but looking at parts instead of their sum is unfortunate. Overall, it’s looks fantastic.
Too bad it looks like it’ll get boring as fuck after fifteen minutes.

Hm, I still mostly play on the PC/laptop, that’s probably why I wasn’t too impressed by Bulletstorm on the console.
With console games, a lot of background/small stuff needs to be scaled down to keep the games running at sufficient fps, that’s stuff I tend to notice for some reason.
If you only play on the consoles then I guess this isn’t an issue… But especially when a game gets ported to or from the PC, such things become very obvious (to me, anyway).
Didn’t seem like Bulletstorm’s graphics are current gen to me. Doesn’t mean they are bad overall.
And yes, it does seem repetitive, even the kill animations and you get a lot of them. Not like you can actually see the more intricate ones (rear entry haha) well from more than a meter away.

There are hundreds in this game, but seriously, you probably won’t be able to tell the difference visually except some cases (environmental killings… Other stuff is just… Well. You’re too far away/too busy/it looks too samish).
I play PC games too, generally with everything maxed, but I haven’t played anything on PC in a while that would lead me to believe Bulletstorm on consoles isn’t current gen. If that’s the case, then what, something like 1% of games can be considered current gen?

I still like FPS cause most of the time you can jump on and play for awhile. I just dont get the feel for points for kills. I am more of the story, atmosphere and length on FPS.
Honestly it reminds me of a skate boarding game, where you get style points.

I meant for the engine specifically… I mean, it is current-gen unreal, no?
Considering that, some of the really cheap effects and animation during the tutorial (explosions, ship crashing into other ship, lousy lightning effect when you kick one of the crates or whatever that was away and it hits a wall fairly early in the game etc.) just made me wonder, plus as I said, the way shaders are used if at all, plants/leaves, the blood, textures, the weapons look and effects…
I dunno man, seems like slightly modified version of the U engine they used in GEARS.

Yeah, and you get to buy stuff with those points too…
If you’re into lengthy FPS games… Holy shit, the last decade must have sucked for you haha.
I swear everytime I buy anything other than an RPG (often now even those) I get through it in 4-8 hours.
Especially annoying if there’s no replayability (often the case imo).
And playing on super-duper-hard just makes things more frustrating, not better…
