I setup my controller to mimic the controls of COD4 almost entirely and turned the hold zoom on as well. i played it again this morning and its not too bad but the aiming is still not as precise as I would like.
What are you doing to be able to use mouse/keyboard with your PS3 in COD, etc? I’d like to get that setup going soon, I much prefer the accuracy of a mouse over the dual joysticks
While we’re on the subject… I sometimes wish there were FPSes set in the 1700’s - maybe the Revolutionary War. I can’t think of any other FPSes that have done anything like that. Seems like there could be some cool and innovative things they could do concerning gun powder, cannons, torches, etc. That, or maybe I’m just a nerd.

thats easy…I played it on my PC =)
Thinking about getting myself the splitfish fragfx. I don’t want a gaming PC, too expensive to keep upgrading them. I’m done with em personally.

Meh, its not to bad. I dont have to have the best stuff out there. So replacing a peace here and there every 2 or 3 years instead of doing the whole thing at once saves a lot of money. I actually upgraded my FX card and processor b/c of COD4. You could get an 8600 super cheap, run any thing you could want and it still look better than the PS3. Plus its a hobby
The default controls worked for me, but I’ll try different presets later tonight.
Regarding the sensitivity - I didn’t notice a dead zone when aiming, but you can adjust that in the menu, just don’t expect this to be a blazing fast shooter a la Unreal Tournament or Halo. There’s a weighted feel to it, pretty hard to explain but I’m sure you know what I mean.
Also, I had no idea the sound work was so well done. You’re doing a huge disservice to the game if you play it through the TV’s speakers.

There was some half-life mod (battlegrounds or so?) along those lines that was popular for a while.
Don’t recall if they ever made a source-engine adaption, though.
Thing is, an FPS with single-shot rifles that also take half a minute to reload and are inaccurate as hell (and in theory you’d be mostly standing in formation or behind barricades)… Let’s just say that there are reasons for why strategy games use that time-period more often than shooters.
I’m beginning to think gaming is being stifled by these next-gen consoles. As development costs for games rise, and consumers increasingly expect (demand) cutting edge graphics, the respective budgets between artwork/rendering/etc. and gameplay are heavily skewed towards the former.
Another result of the high production costs for the primary consoles is seen in lack of innovation, or reluctance of game designers to take risks and design outside the pre-established formulas for the various game genres. Remember NES games?
There were literally thousands. A lot of them were terrible, but a fair percentage were brilliant, and the brilliant ones only came about because designers could afford to take risks.
I’m just not seeing revolutionary games anymore. I’ve been really disappointed with a lot of these next-gen games I’ve tried for the ps3. It’s a lot of cookie-cutter shit, even the super-hyped titles.
Generally, I’m seeing better games for handheld systems. There’s about 20 games I want to play for my DS, but only about 5 I’m looking forward to for the ps3 (gran turismo 5, ffxiii, tekken 6, and a couple others).
It seems like a majority of people are more interested in graphics than gameplay and it’s a disturbing trend in the industry. It bothers me that the most fun game I have for the ps3 is the bionic commando remake, and that I haven’t found a more addictive PC game than counterstrike.
The wii will bring dark times for gamers as companies have now seen the money that can be made with half hearted gamesand half hearted consoles, if I hear one more woman rationalizing giving up her gym membership cause she bought wii fit I’m going to be on the front page of the newspaper.
On a side note anyone played red alert 3 on xbox? I bought it the other day pretty enjoyable, war + gemma Atkinson = heaven LOL
So I know I have said how much I cant wait for Street Fighter IV many times b4. But I also can wait for these, I loved the old 6-face button controllers.
I think these will work great for any other fighters out there or that are comming out. Plus I think they will work well with any other genre of game that someone would rather use the D-Pad rather than the thumb sticks.
Yes, nearly every other movie sequel sucked ass over the last 20 years. Jason Takes Manhattan had to have been the largest piece of crap made up until that point. However, the fact that Newline Cinema now has the rights to the franchise (the ones who finally brought Freddy vs Jason to the screen) may breath new life into a dead franchise.
Paramount Pictures is who created the last few turds that helped make this character a joke. The fact that half of the Winchester Brothers from Supernatural happens to be in it is what will drive me into the theater on Friday.
