I may be very close to realizing my dream of writing comedy.
I will be meeting with someone in half an hour who has been wanting to produce a show and liked some writing sample I gave her.
Also, a professor of mine knows some people who either have done or still do standup in SF, which has quite the standup pedigree, and who have written comedy. She will facilitate something for me very soon.
I told her I’d just about drop out of school if I landed a really good gig. We’ll see…

WTF remake Predator? It’s not exactly super-old, the SFX still stand up, and it wasn’t a bad movie.
That list, except Rambo, seems like HW trying to shit on everything.

Aren’t Indians Asian? Granted I thought of Zuko as Japanese and the little blind girl as Chinese but that was it, the water girl was Eskimo. Aang to me was a white kid among a bunch of monks, that is part of what made him different. But thats just what I took away from it. I will hold judgment till I at least see a trailer for it b/c I like MKS. His last few stories haven’t been great but they weren’t bad either and this really isn’t his story is it.

My thoughts exactly. As great as Bale has been and as great as Ledger was, its really those two that have defined these characters for what? 15 years?
Edit: this is just something I was thinking about last night. Why is it we want to see them remake or reboot Conan but dont want them to tuch The Predator? Just a thought.

Predator was the original; Conan, though a decent actioner, is story-wise a tragic misinterpretation of the Conan mythos.
Redoing Conan gets the character closer to the Robert E. Howard creation, revamping Predator gets the cast of the OC making “witty” one-liners as they each fist-fight a Predator. While Not Backing Down.

Indians are Asian but I think you understand what I meant. This latest movie is just the latest in a series of movies (Dragonball being the latest before this one) in my perspective that they don’t go with Asian actors because they(Hollywood) don’t think it would work. What you said about Zuko being Japanese, Toph being Chinese and the Sokka and Katarra being Inuit seem right on to me. I mean the entire series was based on Eastern views and there was a very asian tint to the entire series. Unless they go and change the races of everyone else in the movie to match, I think it’d be even more insulting if the other Fire/Water/Earth nation ethnicities remained Asian based.
I haven’t liked anything MKS has done since Unbreakable, even though it isn’t his story, directors are going to do things to what they think is right.
I think Batman: Mask of the Phantasm ranks right below the Nolan films and higher than the Tim Burton films. Kevin Conroy is THE voice. It was great hearing him again in Batman: Gotham Knight.

I guess I consider Predator like canon while Conan was entertaining but doesn’t quite have the status that the original Predator does.
Anyone else catch any episodes of this show?
After the many failures lately to reboot the X-men in animated form I really liked the 2 episodes I saw on Monday. It takes place after some events have already happened, Professor X is in a coma, Jean is missing/dead, Magneto already is in charge of Genosha, the mutant registration act has only started it’s push to legislation.

I thought it was pretty funny. The way those enemy soldier burst under fire, it was like he was attacking some kind of leper division where the men have all the consistency of brown paper bags filled with soup.

Then I take it you have never seen what happens when some is shot with a .50 cal? B/c that is almost exactly what happens. You have to think, that they were being shot with anti-armor rounds as big as a finger. Say you get shoot in the belly, they would be picking you up in two peaces.

With a .50 cal, sure; but unless I’m mistaken, body parts were flying around pretty much everytime anyone was shot regardless of the caliber of the weapon. It’s been a while since I saw that movie, so maybe my memory is playing tricks on me.
