The Blu-Ray of District 9 is going to come with the Demo of God of War 3. I cant think of a better way to sell a movie.

Dont know about the rest of you but I love D9 and I love God of War.

Well this will be my 1st post in a few months dew to military goings on. I’ve had time to skim the forums and the web site a few times but not much.

Anyway this is a big time of year for video games and movies. Uncharted 2 last week, Tekken 6 today, Dragon Age next week MWF 2 the week after, then Assassins Creed on the 17th. I have neither the time or money to play all these games as they come out but I cant wait to play all of them.

And Vader the Old Republic is going to be SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!

That does look pretty sweet from the demos, but I’m not sure if I’m going to get it. MMO’s are just too much of a time sink for me these days.

I’ve mainly been playing the following lately:

Arkham Asylum
Ultimate Alliance 2
Fallout 3
Brutal Legend

I preordered Dragon Age, so I’m really looking forward to that as well.
I just saw a youtube video on the star wars game, I like that they are delving into more of the Sith. It really is one area that hasn’t been explored so much. If Lucas wanted to do anything more film-wise, he would have great success there. Like how Darth Sidious came about, stuff like that.

Isn’t M$ also offering movies to download on XBLive now, too? Again, I haven’t explored the newest features much. I don’t thin HULU and Netflix is available outside the US.

I have a Bluray player on my laptop, but wasn’t planning on going out of my way to get one because I thought it was a waste. Even though the quality is impressive, as broadband gets faster, downloading and streaming will be the best choice for sure.

I think they will go this way with the next console, judging by their latest dashboard updates. A 500gb or even 1TB hard drive + a paid monthly account for unlimited movies and music, and they will be dominating the market by a large margin. That is of course, if they can make a console that doesn’t fail after a few months because of heat issues.

I forget the internet isn’t without borders. You’re probably right about Netflix and Hulu. For streaming movies the techies are getting better and better at streaming higher resolution videos while using less bandwidth. RedvsBlue is a good example. I believe their vids stream at 720p now using less bandwidth than the older lower res vids used to.

XBOX Live market place has all kinds of video to download. TV episodes, music videos, movies, etc… I don’t use that aspect too much, well I download free videos like “The Guild”. I’m using the photo of Felicia Day as a shameless plug for “The Guild”.

I would like to see a 1 TB drive on future consoles but that will depend on how big the games get and how much folks plan on downloading from the MS Marketplace.
There are already two companies that are in the final development processes of providing streaming video games over the internet. Basically these companies would allow users to stream games from any console to their computers, without lag or graphics problems. By running the games on remote servers and simply streaming the games to a users computer (obviously there is much more advanced technology involved) users experience pristine game quality, zero lag, and don’t even have to own the console. Both companies will run as subscription services, and one was featured in last months issue of Fast Company (one of the leading magazines that focuses on tech/start-up companies). Does anybody have any more information on this? I think this could dramatically alter the landscape of this sector.

Also, anybody have any dates for the Starcraft 2 release? I’ll probably be married by the time it’s out, Blizzard is being ridiculous.

Blizzard dosent even know when SC2 is coming out. I was just talking with some friends today about this. More or less I was saying I thought Bioware is the better company b/c they make great games year in and year out, have more than 3 properties and get their games out on time. I love Blizzard but when was the last time we played a game that wasnt WoW from them? '04? '03? something like that? When ever Warcraft 3 came out and the last time we played a game that wasnt Warcraft was '00 and thats just sad

For some weird reason I thought Dragon Age was PC only and had pretty much ignored it, my friend let me know I was stupid so I think that game is going to be sick! Damn the trailers just look awesome!

Plus, if you pre-order it you get some pretty cool in-game bonuses and some special armor that you can use in both Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2.

Even though Lucas has said over and over that he’s not going to do any more films, he did say in an interview once that if he did do another film, he’d prefer to do a movie about the distant past of the Star Wars universe. Maybe he’d do something in the Sith War or KOTOR timeframes.

I’d actually prefer they just do another KOTOR game to this MMO, but I’m still interested to see how it turns out.

OK, so I am a PC fanatic and largely anti-mac, though I feel a transition slowly coming on.

It’s pretty obvious that Apple is WAY ahead of the game when even the laptop manufacturers are starting to rip off their notebooks. I’m not going to start on mobile phones.

“The new HP Envy 13: now looks just like a Mac!”

Furthermore, seems HP want to start charging Apple prices too - they’re asking £1500 for that here!

I’m sure some internet site did a non bias comparison of the two?

Indeed, just found it here:

What makes Mac’s good though is the OS IMO - the hardware is stupidly overpriced.

I have always liked Sony Vaios, or at least I have had good luck with them.

I haven’t been playing my PW3 or my comp for a while and therefore not following shit…but after checking this thread I went and looked up Dragon Age - looks pretty good so far. Gotta wait till I’m home later to watch the trailers. Mostly just read up on it so far.

Also gunna have to pick up MW2 when it comes out.

Lucas needs to stay the hell away from the KOTOR story arcs. Bioware is perfectly fine without him blundering in to the studio drunk and pissing all over the upholstery.

Ya I would like to see a 3rd KotOR, but I think the MMO is going to try to touch on Revan and The Exile. To what extent I dont know they are keeping a rather tight lidd on the game and the only this that get out are what they want us to know.

So much for the Dark Lord, games dont get any darker than MMO’s

Watched the Dragon Age trailers and the Mass Effect 2 ones as well…I want both games, NOW!

January 26 for Mass Effect 2??? Say it isn’t so!!

Geek help -

I keep getting these digital downloads for movies when I get a blu ray, but they don’t play on my psp which plays MP4’s. They will play on my computer using windows media player.

What sucks even more is they only allow you to download it once so if you fuck it up, you don’t get your digital copy.

What format do they download in?

If you already have the file, I can probably suggest some software to convert it to an MP4.

George Lucas needs to stop making films period. The variouus writing teams behind the The Force Unleashed, KOTOR, Star Wars: Clone Wars and the Star Wars comic books have all proven to be far more in touch with the Star Wars universe and the general public than Georgey has been in the last decade. Lucas needs to hang up his hat and turn the story over to hungry young bucks with the talent and imagination to keep driving Star Wars forward.
