Gears of War (Spoilers)

First of all, a good WTF is needed! Why do the pushable cars move different lengths sometimes? This really pisses me off because it’s been happening a lot and it makes it hard to hit the Troikas.

I even flipped and threw one of these stupid things! This really seems like a glitch in an otherwise seamless game.

I’m going to try and clear the xbox’s cache to see if that helps. Anybody else have this?

That fixed it. Stupid Microsoft.

Also I just heard that PS3’s version of XBOX live is included in the price of the machine. I may have to sell this thing.

You’re going to sell the 360 for an unproven, far from implemented, no developers have the tools yet, online system?

Right now and for at least a year it will be nothing more than a crippled version of iTunes and the PS2 online.

BRILLIANT!

For online console gaming Live is where its at and it will be for a very long time.

Sounds like you’re a little bitter because you suck at the game?

Dude, the game isn’t THAT hard. Seriously though, I think I got a glitchy XBOX. Having to reset the cache after one failed mission isn’t my idea of good engineering.

The new PS3’s price seems justified if they can get the online play to be any good. I’ll end up paying that much over time for Live-Gold.

Look for my gamertag biotch!

Try the game on Insane then claim if its hard or not. If you say its easy you’re full of shit.

Please do sell the 360 then for a PS3 in April when you’ll be able to get one.

Just another illinformed gamer…

Normally I don’t mind when people talk out of their asses. Scratch that… I never really mind.

I will have 5 PS3’s on Ebay if you want. I upped the “Buy It Now” price to $2000.

Nah, I will wait to make sure they don’t have problems like Microsoft did.

Here’s a nice little writeup of the disaster Sony’s online service is going to be. So like I said, sell your 360 for the PS3, I dare you!

Isn’t it a bit early to pass judgement on Sony’s online offering?

While it’s unlikely they’ll match Microsoft’s Xbox Live from day one, let’s at least give them a chance.

Game reviews of “Resistance: Fall Of Man” mention smooth, lag free games with around 40 players at the same time. Whether that’ll still be the case when there’s more people online remains to be seen, but to dismiss it as “crap” now reeks of fanboyism.

Similarly, to think that the PS3 will not have problems of his own is probably too optimistic. Modern game consoles are very complex beasts. They need operating systems, they’re connected to the net, they can be patched/upgraded via download, etc. Add complexity = more potential for bugs and problems.

Its the fact they have not and will not provide developers with the necessary tools to make online aspects easy. Companies will not spend the time to implement this when they have an incredible set of tools for Live imlementation.

There are way too many questionmarks still out there for Sony’s plans. No voice support, no standard freinds list etc. No company, save EA, will fund this. It will add an incredible amount to game development costs.

There’s a lot of bullshit being paraded around as “facts” by a lot of people.

It could be simply that Sony’s new service is not completely ready, and they prefer not to release information now that would need to be revised later.

Sony might be arrogant, but they’re not stupid. They need to compete with Microsoft in a big way, less they lose the whole “download movies and tv shows to your home” market.

I’m sure that, given time, they’ll do what’s necessary to ensure that their service can compete adequately with MS. It might take them months or even years - MS has a good head start here - but they can’t really ignore it.

To assume that the current situation won’t change or improve with time is not realistic.

So, you can say that “they have not”, but the “and they will not” part is just ridiculous. How could anyone know what Sony will or will not do? Is there a law of physic preventing them from changing their mind next week? Next month? Let’s be serious.

All those thing can be added in eventually. It might by that Sony is trying to differentiate themselve from MS by offering something different. Microsoft have altered various aspects of the console through updates since the launch; Sony will do the same thing.

Like MS last year, Sony is probably launching before they are 100% ready to do so. They don’t want to (or can’t afford to) miss another holiday season.

Personally, I’m tempted by the 360, but I’m going to wait until at least early next year, when we’ve had more time to see how both consoles compare, for real, in the real world, not in the articles of various bloggers and journalists, most of whom have trouble with objectivity.

Another thing: If Sony doesn’t eventually provide standard tools for this, a 3rd party will.

We already often see “SoftDec” or “Havok” or a whole bunch of other generic libraries being used by developers when making games. If Sony won’t provide it, you can be sure that eventually, you’ll be seeing “PSTalk” - or whatever they call the library - being used in game after game. The overhead in game development costs will simply be the cost of the licence.

At the very worst, a game company could write it’s own voice support and then reuse it in every game. It’s not like the voices or the hardware will be changing all the time.

Those “incredible amounts” will end up being rather minimal, in the end.

No, they will most likely just leave out online play for the PS3 and just have it on the 360.

They might leave out voice support; but I rather doubt no one will take advantage of the online service.

In any case, we’ll find out soon enough.

can someone give me a tip to beat RAAM on GOW?
