Hey all
I just recently got into geared squatting more so just for the added support of a suit to keep my hips/back healthier with big weights. I purchased an inzer champion suit. First time putting it on took some 20 mins even with a pair of spandex underneath. Now roughly 2 months later, i can slip it on in 5 mins and feel as though it might be stretching too much in the seat and not giving the support it did a short while ago. I’ve lost maybe 2lbs bw just by chance during this time, but hardly think i lost so much size that it’s too loose.
So i’m thinking of getting a different suit, maybe straying away from inzer. I have a 455 raw squat, 475 with the suit (easy lift too) at 168 bw. Thinking also i’d prefer the support in the bottom, but not so much the boost or pop people talk about. Any suggestions? I’d like to get into competition as well.
Thanks in advance!
Flapjack399: I don’t know if you’re planning to compete in gear. If not but you just want some hip protection and the ability to handle a bit more weight, I’d recommend getting a loose set of Metal Pro or Viking briefs, or maybe some Inzer Predators. If you’re only getting 20lb out of a suit it isn’t doing anything for you. Good briefs will give you good hip support and pop out of the hole.
ExtremistPullup: I like a 10mm belt. 13mm just feels too stiff. 10 holds up fine even squatting up over 800.
StrongerOne: I have an Ace and Jack suit and prefer the Ace. The legs of the Jack are a little bigger at the same size, but I’ve never been able to get anything to depth in it. Other opinions may vary.
So i should definitely be getting more out of the gear then. Good to know ![]()
I also feel as though the champion suit rides too high, bunches in the hips and comes to high on the hamstrings. I’ll give the metal brief a shot. I see they have a sale going on elitefts for the vikings.
I would consider competing geared, but feel i need to get my numbers up a bit before i do.
Thanks for the info!
is the inzer standard double denim any good? any one have expirence with that, carryover? groove? is it forgiving?
Hi All,
I’m looking for a pair of shoes to DL, Squat, OHP, and BP in. I’m tired of buying cheap running or crosstraining shoes every year, and want something durable to use strictly for powerlifting (i’ll probably leave them on for the duration of my accessory moves also). I’ve had chucks recommended, but i’d like some input for some powerlifting specific shoes that will last. I don’t care about them being stylish or anything- just durable.
In case it matters, i am male, 27 years old, 5’9" and weigh 205 (pretty proprtionate upper and lower body), around 10% body fat, and wear a size 9.5-10 men’s shoe. I don’t have any width or other foot issues- just a pretty average foot.
I’d like to keep the price around $100 dollars (US), but if you think there is a great shoe that is slightly more i’ll spend the money.
Thank you in advance!
