Right, because you have to act just like a suburban white male or else you couldn’t possibly be smart or a good citizen.

Some of you in this thread aren’t giving these guys enough credit. As if they couldn’t possibly act “professional” if they wanted to. I know I talk differently with my friends than how I would on a job interview, so why couldn’t it be possible that these guys have the same intelligence and adapdability?

I think it’s very telling when people in this thread say shit like, “oh hes a public menace because he’s doing dips on someones car bumper.” Did you guys stop to think that MAYBE it’s HIS car? No it couldn’t be, because he’s black right? And for the last fucking time, the guy on top of the bus stop was up there doing supported situps, with the extended range of motion provided by the height. He might as well do his fucking pushups while he is up there. And even if that werent the case, they are trying to make a cool looking video, do you really need to be this critical? Just let them be creative without getting a sandy vagina. Sheesh.

I also don’t believe the mention of prison was meant to be a badge of honor, rather it was making the point that these guys have KNOWLEDGE of how to train despite their previous circumstances and have something to show for it. I mean how many threads have we had on this site bitching about personal trainers who went to school for their certs/degrees yet don’t know shit or look like they’ve never worked out a day in their life? There’s been like a trillion of them! I figured more people on this site would support these guys.

I really liked the video (along with a couple others) when i first watched, and was actually really happy since I hadn’t had access to heavy weights in a long time and it gave me some new things to try out with bodyweight exercises. I’m fucking glad they made the vid and I did not find it silly, rather I found it to be pretty badass.
I do completely agree with this

except when they say things like “Dont even try that or you will dislocate all your shit”

If I said on one of these forums “Dont even try to do the shit I do guys or you will dislocate everything” i would get a big ol FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

but like I said, I got no problem with the message/ideas their putting out there, more kids should be inspired to workout, hell the USA’s youth is getting fatter by the second
I could say that all day long. You sort of get to if you are doing something that most people can’t even attempt.

So what do these guys squat? Deadlift max? Bench? Can they do chinups with added weight? A lot of this shit looks like more SHOW than GO. I want REAL STRENGF DAMMIT! A lot of those “crazy” chinups are the same type used on the P90X videos and guess what YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO DO THEM AT HOME and no you wont “Dislocate all yo shit”.

Dont get me wrong though id definetly buy a shirt off of any one of them, cause those HAAAAWT abs can really sell shit ya know? fuck it id buy their cologne too!
?

I’ve seen a million of these workout vids/free running and they are all pretty damn cool. I actually think sometimes I wish I was lighter and didn’t bulk up my legs so much so I can still do this stuff.

In highschool I would be able to go in a sitting position, put my self in a handstand position and then continue to do 8 reps handstand pushups (no wall nothing).

Used to do chin-ups with 90lbs attatched to me for 5 reps.

I’d imagine these guys don’t have a heavy set of legs on them, my legs are sittin right around 27.5inches right now…they are definately 50x stronger, but it’d be cool to pull some of these things off.

Aside from that though, I wanna be able to do muscle-ups…I havent tried yet but I don’t think I could do it right now…but I’ll have to see/get the technique down.
The other things aren’t too bad…the static holds (jesus)…or riding the bicycle…if your good at pullups these movements arent too hard to do…jsut the muscle-up and the variations they do takes longer to do/build strength for…IF you are a heavier guy. I’m nothing special heavy, but I’m 210 right now but I got big legs like I said above, so it’s quite a bit more weight to pull-up. I’m wondering anyone here can do any of the muscle-ups?

Anyone know how much these guys are weighting…I’d say most of them no more than 180?
I have a feeling they don’t train their legs a crazy amount either cause it’d be a little detriminal to what they are doing and liek airtruth said…they get plent of leg work from playin ball, sprints, jumps etc.

on a side note - prof x = D300 in the vids haah jk

Well yea you could say that, but I still consider it a bit cocky…

I would rather if they said something like “well teach you to do crazy shit like that”

But idk, like you stated im not their target and even tho I cant relate their sure doing what their trying to do, get kids not fat, and I dont think anyone on here would have a problem with that

I was talking about the video at the begining of this thread.

You can still do a lot of that. It just takes a longer time to develop the strength and balance to. I can’t do as much as those guys do, because it isn’t my primary focus, but even with a bodyweight that is normally around 250 lbs I can still do handstand pushups, one armed pushups and muscleups (even though muscleups are hard as hell. LOL) My eventual goal is to be able to do a true one handed pullup. Old school lifters could do a lot of this stuff in addition to push serious weight. It keeps you flexible and athletic and it also adds a lot to your strength when you’re lifting.

I am also wondering how many of the guys that bashed this video for various reasons can do any of the things that these guys did. I think a whole lot of times, guys get stuck on the messenger, as opposed to the message. The human body is capable of so many more things than most of us can fathom, but we will never know what our potential is because we don’t push limits and open our minds to see what other people are doing that we may benefit from.

Hey, that’s what I’m here for.

Either way, I agree. I would be surprised if even 2 of the guys raising hell about “professionalism” in this thread are even half as big as the guys in the video.

People love to critique others as long as no one shines a mirror back at them.

Yeah. That’s one reason I mentioned that, while I am not able to do everything those guys do, I can do some of it; knowing that I probably am bigger than 90% of the guys on here who tend to post negative stuff. The other was to encourage guys who would like to be able to do stuff like that to learn and try it themselves.

A few months ago a couple of guys at work were asking me about different pull-ups, dips, and improvised exercise techniques because they were just getting into lifting and didn’t have much equipment. I told them to Youtube “ghetto workout” because these vids have been posted here on this site before.

The next day they came in all fired up and had nothing but respect for the guys in the vids. They have been busting their asses to attempt some of that stuff, and are making headway.

But then again, the guys I work with actually have some respect for strength, and the effort required to build muscle.

For what it’s worth- One has ripped down from a fat 220 to 185 @ 5’8 (his primary goal), and has built his strength up to a 250lb. bench from struggling with 135. The other has gone from mid 180’s @ 5’11 and a bit of chub to 196 and solid, gaining in all lifts and nowhere near a plateau. His only problem is the disbelief of how he keeps gaining every time he grabs the bar or steps on a scale.

Interesting how different perspectives and attitudes yield different results, huh?

True

These videos are awesome. The bartendaz are awesome and great role models I love how they make a point to separate themnselves from jail and do a really good job of makeint the stuff cool. Great role model for kids.

To the dude who said shit about squating and six packs. That is retarted I gurantee there were dudes with better physiques then you in that video. I hate the fake hardcore attitude some people have on this site they diss everyone who is not ronnie colman size but probably looks better than them. Compare to what you look like not what you want to look like.

You just nailed it my friend. That’s one reason why I left for a long period of time. I enjoy the information that T Nation has and many of the old-time posters, but it’s hard to stomach the pure hubris that many of these kids bring to the forum.

The video in question has been around for a while and when I saw it I was nothing but inspired and you know my background.

I’m glad you old timers know what everyone here has done to warrant an attitude. Seems to me prof x has the most hostile arrogant attitude around here. Pot, kettle?
Hey Josher I’m not saying that I know what everyone has done, but there is an attitude that is currently prevalent on this board from some of the younger guys that wasn’t here several years ago. I try not to disrespect anyone regardless of age. But, I see a lot of guys who are barely 20 telling the rest of us how to train, how to eat and even how to vote. When pushed for facts their quoting some college professor when neither have any real world experience.

I’m not always right, far from it and I’m sure Prof X would say the same thing, but dam the respect level for those of us who have lived it for 20 or more years is just not there with some of you.
