GarageRocker's Balancing Act

Yeah that’s kind of what I was thinking also ha. As long as the resistance is high enough it shouldn’t short anything out, but like you said, probably better to be safe than sorry. I’ve been kicking around the idea of going back to school for some electronics courses due to my job kind of leaning that way with all the tech advancement in my field but I can’t seem to justify it at this point.

Big transformer=big tone right? I have a couple old pioneer stereo amps that were given to me by a family friend that aren’t firing up I just haven’t had the time to open them up and see what’s going on with them. I think you’ve inspired me to get working on them.

Also, wanted to say congrats on the BP meds and everything! That’s exciting news man.

Up and moving, normal PWO routine.

Deadlift
210 x 5
255 x 5
300 x 3
345 x 5
390 x 3
435 x 8

Bench
45 x 5
135 x 5
190 - 5 x 5

Assistance
SS w/ deadlift
Hanging leg lifts - 5 x 10

SS w/ each other
TRX Row - 25, 15, 10
Dips - 25, 15, 10

Cardio
10 minute tabata battle ropes

I can tell I’ve fully achieved burnout and am ready for a break. Still really happy with 435 for 8 though, meaning I’ll likely use 435 or 440 as my TM for Pervertor. Put 480 on the bar after the set but gave up before initiating the pull - realized it was a bad idea. Bench was super fast and strong and assistance was good. It was fun to push higher reps but damn do I hurt now. Cardio was easier than it has been. I may do ladder agility drills for hard cardio just for funsies in my next cycle. I think multiple planes of movement would benefit my hips/abs/back/legs.

Up and feeling terrible, I woke up mid-sleep cycle and just felt like I was moving through cold syrup. Beat myself up a bit at band practice last night too. Normal PWO routine - caffeine helped immensely.

Squat
45 x 5
135 x 5
225 x 5
295 - 5 x 5

Press
45 x 5
70 x 5
85 x 5
100 x 3
115 x 5
130 x 3
145 x 5
160 x 1
175 x 1 - ties PR

Assistance
SS w/ squat
Chin/pull ups - 8 x 5

SS w/ press
Chin/pull ups - 2 x 5
DB curl - 20 lbs - 5 x 10

SS w/ each other
Banded triceps pressdowns - 5 x 20
Good mornings - 135 lbs - 5 x 10

Cardio
DB clean-squat-press - 30 lbs - 4 x 12 w/ 60 sec rest

I had zero expectations for this session because of how I felt when I woke up, but I focused myself and feel really good about it. The Strong, Fast, and Brutal article was a must-read to fix my mindset and lift well again. Just get under the bar and push. Squat was super fast, press felt good and stable, although the 3 and 1+ sets weren’t great. 160 was a speed rep and 175 had a sticking point but flew other than that 1/2" of the ROM. Assistance felt good and cardio was easy. I’m in much better shape than I was when I started the program and am not much, if any, weaker than I was. It accomplished its goal.

Next week will be 35-45-55 % deloads for squat-press-pull and I’ll do the 7th week TM test for bench Monday. I’m about 99% locked on Pervertor for next cycle.

1/11/2021 - Squat Deload

Up and moving. Slept well and my body is exhausted from recovering from my last 11 weeks of lifting. Agile 8, no jumps, fasted.

Squat
45 x 5
135 x 5
185 x 5
225 x 5

Assistance
SS w/ squat
Nordic ham curls - 3 x 10

SS w/ each other
Incline DB bench - 55 lbs - 3 x 10
BB curls - 65 x 10; 55 - 2 x 10

I did the squats without shoes, meaning I didn’t have my 7mm lift for my right leg. Oddly enough, it was the most balanced my squat has felt in a long time. I may try squatting barefoot this cycle just to see what happens. The assistance is what I’ll be doing with my Pervertor cycle starting next week - this will help me find the right weight to use for each. Obviously 65 lbs was a bit much for the curls…(inner bro dies a little).

Ran my daily meals through myfitnesspal and have likely been severely low on carbs/calories, right on with protein, and right on/slightly high with fats. I may try adding some grains back in because I’m already decently full with my current intake and would have to eat an obscene amount of fruit to make up the carb difference.

1/12/2020 - 7th Week Bench

Up and moving, 2 cups of coffee and Agile 8 pre-workout.

Bench
45 x 5
95 x 5
135 x 5
185 x 3
225 x 5
250 x 5 - TM for upcoming Pervertor cycle is 250

Assistance
DB Row - 105 lbs - 3 x 10
Plate raise - 45 lbs - 2 x 10; replace w/40 lb dumbbell - 1 x 10
DB Bulgarian split squats - 40 lbs - 3 x 10

Bench felt better today than it has in a year. Assistance was great, the rows made my back feel much better. Plate raises are a bit too punk rock for my weak shoulders so I’m gonna use a 40 lb DB to start with. BSS were good but I’m gonna be sore tomorrow.
