That’s nuts man, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten over 15. 13 is my best at >200 though.

Thanks man. I’ve written it into my program - 10-20 minutes of hard cardio after lifting (full session from Agile 8 through cardio takes 90 minutes), then do 30 minutes of easy cardio 3 other days a week. I feel way better because of it.

Great work my friend!

1/2/2021 - Cardio Day

3.07 mile run. Didn’t time it but I felt fast and was breathing well until I got inside. Bought a cheap phone sleeve and it works great, music made the run a lot less boring.

Edit: according to Mrs. Garagerocker my run took less than 25 minutes, which makes me really happy with my pace.

November weight: 217.6
Current weight: 201.8

Cardio
KB crusher - 50 lbs - 8:00 total - rest as needed
5 kb swings
5 goblet squats
5 step back lunges per side

My ass was kicked before I touched a weight today. Back has been extremely sore from my run and my hips/lumbar have been lopsided for a week or so. I gritted out 5 on 370 and may have been able to do 1-2 more, but the pain was pretty solid by rep 4. First few sets of press were slow and painful, but after the DB curls it was a lot smoother and faster. Plate raises were a nice touch and the cardio was a ballbuster. Started with 85 lbs and very quickly reined in my scrotum and returned to reality. I know I’m ready for an off week and am gonna have to get through these next 4 days on adrenaline and Biofreeze.

Big day today - doc appointment this afternoon to see how my bloods look and see if I can stay off of BP meds. I’ve done everything I can to keep it down, just hoping it’s enough.

I went to my chiropractor yesterday and he said my pelvis was all sorts of fucked up, as well as my neck. My cervical spine was so compressed there was no room for my jaw to move normally, which was causing a lot of pain chewing and rendered me unable to sing. I feel better today but not 100%, so my cardio will be 20 minutes of brisk walking before I eat.

Sounds nasty. Is that something he could help you with?

Yeah, he did what needed done. When he yanked on my head my spine moved all the way down to my tailbone. Centered up my lumbar and hips to get my pelvis level and now it’s just up to me to let the muscles get used to the right position. My whole family has spinal issues so it’s something I’ll have to live with and work around.

Genetic can suck sometimes. But good things somebody invented chiropractors at least.

Agreed. Well, I think chiropractors needs to be qualified with the word “good”. I went to two others before I found my current one and they made everything worse. Had me doing “corrective” exercises that exacerbated my issues/pain. Current guy had me feeling like I was 15 again after 1 visit, minus the random boners and social awkwardness.

So he was not you type?

But yeah totally agree, it can be hit or miss. I went to a therapist with my knee in the autumn, but ended up dropping it because it felt like he was just trying things out and hoped something worked.

The medical field is interesting. Doctors and specialists are great, but you gotta be your own advocate and have your bullshit-dar on high alert. My last GP was a pill pusher - one high reading on blood pressure and he put me on meds; I mentioned anxiety and he immediately wrote me a script for Lexapro (which I never took). New GP puts the onus on me to get my health in order and will only resort to meds if I can’t do it myself.

@boilerman I’m delving into the dangerous realm of open heart surgery on an amplifier tonight. Dude was selling a Mississippi-made Peavey Special 160 chassis with broken pots for $25 near me (they go for $200+ in working order) and I figured I might as well learn on cheap stuff. So got a few new pots coming and will be swapping them out. Just hoping 1 week unplugged is enough to allow the big electrolytic capacitors to drain their stored charge :grimacing:

134/68 at the doctor’s office today! Systolic was the exact same as when I was on meds and diastolic is 1 mmHg higher. I was worried because I’d had some drinks and made a few bad food choices this weekend, but it all worked out. I’m fucking stoked :metal::metal::metal::metal:

Hell yeah man!! Nice grab!

I work on a lot of frequency drives at work and I’ve had some close calls with those caps. Never unsoldered them from the boards but I would guess there is a way discharge them?
On PSC motors I work on I just arc them out with a screwdriver, I’m assuming the ones you’re working on store a bit more oompf so I wouldn’t really recommend it. Maybe a high ohm resistor to ground of some sort?

Anyways- awesome find dude. You’re building up quite a collection!

Careful now, you might trigger @guineapig lol

Different doctors have different approaches, that’s for sure. Some patients also prefer the pill pusher types, some prefer those that are a bit more conservative. That’s why it’s best to find one you can work closely with. Another important thing is being able to trust them with what they’re doing when you don’t understand what’s happening (yet, at least).

I’ve watched videos where dudes just have a set of grounding sticks (BBQ skewers with conductors attached to the ends that are also attached to each other), but they just sound a lot like shorting the circuit. I’m just an under-qualified mechanical engineer though, no real experience with the dark arts outside of “Intro to Electrical Engineering for non-Electrical Engineers”.

I’m pretty excited to have this one though, it uses a tube amp power transformer so it sounds pretty tubey. Plus, I’m putting it in a head shell and will have a 160 watt head in a 30-50 watt-sized enclosure. Weighs less than 25 pounds too.

That’s a very good point. The good docs I’ve had have been able to get a feel for my ability/desire to work on my own health and have adapted their style to that. The not-so-good ones have just stuck to their default approach regardless, which hasn’t exactly made me a happy customer. I got the GP sorted out, now just need to find a good dentist. I’m 0-for-2 so far. Each one has completely FUBAR’d a filling. One exploded the tooth he was filling, and the other left a nerve exposed…
