G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra

Spoilers

I was entertained and that was all I asked for. I’m glad they didn’t overdue the whole supersuit thing. My biggest gripe would be the corny lines. I really liked the way the developed the characters with the min-flashbacks. Of course Snake Eyes stole the show along with Storm Shadow.

They better make a 2! After the whole Zartan thing after all. Anyone else stay after the credits to see if there was anything there? I wanted to but by that time my eyeballs were swimming!

Watched the midnight showing. My thoughts:

If you’re a serious movie buff, you’ll dislike the movie. The plot’s really weak, and there were many many many instances where I laughed because of how stupid/improbable/cheesy the script was. The actors aren’t all that great either.

However, if you go into it realizing it’s an action hero movie and nothing more, I think you’ll enjoy it. There are a number of good action scenes, so I was pretty entertained. (It helps that Sienna Miller is absolutely smokin’ in the movie, and so is Rachel Nichols.)

Would I ever watch it again? Highly unlikely. Will I watch the sequel? Probably.

Forget this hater.

Get the stick out of your ass, watch the movie, and have fun.

Did you miss the line where I said I enjoyed the movie?

This guy isn’t even a real member.

Go see GI Joe and ignore the negative people.

Still confused.

There’s no way there won’t be a sequel with Zartan getting to where he was at the end. My guess is that this stretches out to at least 3 movies.

hopefully going to see it, im in the mood for something minldess

I saw it yesterday and thought it was entertaining, although it does not resemble much of the cartoon from what I remember. The battle scenes between Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes is what made this movie for me. Not to mention looking at the Baroness and Scarlett. Channing Tatum should have stuck to his breakdancing rather than be cast in this movie. It was hard for me to accept him as being tough. Also it was kinda hard to look at the Wayans brother in a role that isn’t funny. He has done comedy all his life or close to it, so for him to come off in a soldier like fashion was a little hard. Not a bad movie though.

I saw it last night, wasn’t really impressed. I kinda started daydreaming through
certain parts lol.

MINOR SPOILER BELOW

Just saw it. It was pretty cool. The acting was corny, but so was the cartoon. Lots of cool explosions! It twisted some of the original plots, like how Storm Shadow killed his master with a sword in his back, while in the comic book, he shot him with an arrow through the wall. Minor stuff like that.

Scarlett had a crossbow, Storm Shadow had the two swords on his back, Destro finally ended up with a metal face, The PITT was in Egypt? That part was kinda weird…

Overall, I enjoyed it and will be looking forward to the sequel. (but I like action movies with poorly designed plots that have lots of explosions)

GO JOE!!

I don’t like the anti-America vibe in this movie.

GI Joe is an American hero. Not in this movie. He’s some UN servant.

No thanks. Not spending money on this one.

Bittorrent will be my friend

Anti-america vibe? If anything it was the opposite even using the line “real American hero” to describe Duke in one of the scenes.

So you haven’t even seen it yet are criticizing it like that?

At the end? Is that when Zartan quit the whole G.I. Joe thing, moved to Norway, and then formed the mighty frost-driven black metal band IMMORTAL?

Saw it last night.

Snake eyes is a bad motherfucker!

I didn’t think channing tatum was all that bad, but I do agree he was a little bit hard to accept as Duke.

I agree with whoever said they started daydreaming at certain parts. These parts were few and far between however.

I feel like this movie basically set the stage for a GI JOE movie, more like the GI Joe as we know it.

Overall, i liked it, and will definately check out the sequel.

Duke = Worst actor in movie

That casting call must have sucked.

Thats exactly what I was thinking, in my mind, thought of “How the hell did this pussy get cast for this role?” I would imagine someone like Stallone when he did First Blood. The only characters worthy of their respective roles were the Heavy Duty, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Baroness, and Scarlett. Channing tatum should never be allowed to be near an action hero type of movie ever in history, I propose this as a new law.

It was an action orgy. Great vehicles, nice chase scenes. I want a super suit for Christmas, I would never have to wait in traffic ever again. Duke was kinda stiff but he only had about 5 minutes of dialogue, Ripcord was way more annoying.

It’s worth it if you are a fan of GI JOE or like action.

Way to ruin the movie for everyone else.

Dennis Quad and others signed contract to do three movies.

Well…that was a good action flick…lots cheese factor…and typical Stephen Sommers “CGI every damn thing” special effects. It was ok…not the GI Joe I wanted…but it was alright. Not something that gives me the urge to watch it again anytime soon. Hopefully the next two will exceed where this one fell short.

*Spoiler
It was pretty corny at times, but the action was great and the special affects were awesome. i didn’t like the Joe’s aircraft and Snake Eyes fake rubber make mouth looked stupid, but overall i thought it was an entertaining movie. Baroness was absolutely gorgeous! Scarlett was smoking hot too! But her character was a little retarded…

Yo Joe!

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. Will definitely see it again. Only three complaints:

  1. Wayans was not funny. At all. I usually like him a LOT, but I don’t think I laughed at a single one of his one-liners.

  2. The Master Chief ripoff suits were ridiculously unnecessary. I don’t know if they were trying to cash in on the Halo fanboys, but that’s certainly what it felt like to me.

  3. Some of the CGI effects were terrible. There were times when I seriously felt like I was watching a video game (Matrix reloaded Smith clones scene, anyone?). The desert scene, when they see The Pit for the first time, and some of the underwater training sequences especially come to mind. I know the Transformers comparisons are getting old, but I will say there was not a single time I was watching either of those where I specifically said to myself “That’s CGI.”

All in all, though, very entertaining, which is all I wanted. Can’t wait for the sequel.
