WOW, talk about being wound up. His remark was made becuase I was talking about my nephews being from Brooklyn NY and not the good part being the biggest geeks/Nerds I know. Not an insult I love my nephews and they are Nerds. The pic of kanye with the sweater and backpack was an example I could care less who face was on the pic well thats not true I wanted to show that yes black people could be nerds also.

A nerd wouldn’t have dropped out of college. His look isn’t much different than Puff Daddy’s designer suits. That “gangsta” look only works if you actually have that persona or can fake it well. Kanye grew up in a middle class home…just like many of us. Just because people like that don’t get as much exposure as people who wear their pants around their ankles doesn’t mean it makes them nerds.

I don’t dress like Kanye. Most of the shirts I hang around in have the sleeves cut off. If not at work, I am usually in shorts. Does that make me less of a “nerd”? If you didn’t know me to begin with, I doubt you would guess my personality by how I am dressed or how I look. That was the point being made.

the way you dress says a lot about you, most people are aware of this and try to convey a certain image by how they dress because whether you realize it or not, people assume a lot about you by your appearance - its human nature to do so.

I have had friends who had nice cars, but lived like bums. They spent all their money on clothes, cars, and pretty meaningless crap. I would rather get a nice house and work on fixing that up. MTV Cribs focuses on the crib, with a small emphasis on the car, for a reason. No one wants to brag about living in the back seat of their nice ride.

Seems like we disagre on the word Nerd. I don’t see a nerd/geek being anything other than a words to describe a style and or lifestyle. My nephew are what my brother calls cool nerds they dress with some hip hop style but are total book worms and computer geetks. Hell the younger of the two could take mine apart upgrade it and put it back together by the time I’m out of the bathroom.

Exactly my point, same as above. MANY white people live well below their means so that they can invest in what is more important to them, like their children’s college education rather than the newest style of nikes, or a nice house rather than a nice car.
