Some black people intentionally walk slower on a crosswalk. Some white people do. Some hispanic people do. Some asians do.

Every “race” has people that do that just to piss you off.

Depends where you live. If there’s a very large population of black people where you live, you’ll see black people doing it often because there are alot of 'em, and fewer of other “races”.

Same goes if you live in a white trash neighbourhood, same for hispanic etc.

There was a thread here on TN not long ago about a guy who came home from a deployment and found cat shit in his home gym…maybe you remember the thread. The passive-aggressive behavior this guy proudly described, both he and his wife, made me want to pull my hair out. He also was white.

So no, I am not blind to passive-aggressive behavior when the perpetrator is white. But the OP’s thread was about a particular behavior, that just so happens to be passive-aggressive, that he apparently has noticed is prevalent amongst many black folks. I related some examples from my own personal experience. When discussing something like this I am always careful to use words like “some” or “most” and not “all”. Because to make broad, sweeping generalizations about a group of people is, as it always is, ignorant.

I personally think it inappropriate to post a thread entitled, “Funny things black people do.” And then to further suggest that all black people do any one thing is ignorant.

But I have witnessed this particular behavior…and I said so.

For the record, I am caucasian of Italian and German descent. The topic at hand (IMHO) has less to do with class or race and more to do with status. I grew up in Baltimore City and for the first 10 years I was around Greenmont and 33rd, which anyone from the area will attest to, is a predominantly black area and you still would probably think twice before parking your car there even today - back in the 70’s there were Black Panthers and other gangs running all over the place looking for trouble. We then moved to Hampden, near Falls Rd and 36th street (it is nicer now, but back in the 80’s it was all white trash and the heroin hub of the city).

I saw both blacks and whites exhibiting the EXACT same behavior. All that little stunt is, is a ploy for status. You walk slow and if the guy in the car slows down, you pulled his card. If he has balls or the willingness to start shit (which in the city can escalate real quick to something that nobody wants) then it hits the fan.

Most of the time, the car will just slow down and keep going, which means that the guy walking “stole” a little status by doing so in front of everyone at the intersection, while the guy in the car really didn’t lose much cuz he kept driving and no one was really paying attention anyway.

Then you have those few rare occasions when the driver honks or yells at the guy, but this is an almost certain recipe for confrontation. I have actually seen a guy draw down on an offending “honker” and was like, “what, Muthafucka? what you got to say now?” while pointing the gun at the guy’s girlfriend. And that was a WHITE guy! Compensating? probably, but he definitely won the “status exchange”.

Inner city is inner city, no matter what color you are. If the person walking slow is in your way, I always just slow down for a minute and give way. It only takes a second and avoids any unwanted trouble (unless I’m out looking for trouble, which is a whole other topic and is something I haven’t felt the urge to do in years). If he needs status THAT bad that he has to “take it” in such a contrived way, then I say let him have it. He obviously doesn’t have anything else to live for. And people with nothing to lose are unpredictable at best and downright psychotic at worst.

On another note, I have noticed that the trolls have been “pulling the race card” a bit more frequently in the past week or so. Let’s not feed that bullshit, guys. I know it’s hard to resist calling someone an asshole or a racist when they are ignorant, but at the end of the day it’s a waste of time cuz this is the interwebz, after all.

I try to refrain from using the “R” word vindictively. I’ve realized that it’s hard to even call out people on their “racism” because of the modern day passive-aggressive nature of those that show their ignorance. It’s not as blatant as it once was…but it’s still there.

You can’t discredit what people experience. But ignorance and even hate for a entire group that you have had negative experiences with a just a small portion of that group hurts all of us. Whites AND blacks are guilty of this shit. With that,I understand what you are saying…but we have to keep in mind the intentions and mindset of the OP. Glad we could come to an understanding.

Through most of my life until my parents seperated which was 2000. My real father was in jail a lot, so I think I know from experience how off criminals can be, their mindset is hard to explain on the computer.
Since I was 14 I have been a laborer. Right now I am painting an entire house by myself to help pay for my first semester of college this fall.
My stepfather has been away with the airforce for about 6 months now and will be coming back in November, anyone who has gone through that knows how difficult it can be.

I never said my life was hard, but I what I meant by living off the system was people who expect something for nothing. My real dad, his brother’s family expected money to be given to them and would complain about being poor but they did absolutely nothing, would not even think of work. My dad’s brother I guess was complaining about not having money and their mother offered to pay him to mow her lawn, he would not do it lol. I have no pity for people like that and the sad thing is there are A LOT of people like that.

Why is it all of the homeless people in the area I live are black? Also black people selling drugs all over our neighborhoods, and always shooting each other. Why is it that I can’t walk down two or three block without any of my boys because i’ll probably get jumped by black people?
