Funny Idea to Burn Cals

I agree that there is no comparison between the term “eskimo” and the other term which I do not feel comfortable typing. Nevertheless, didn’t the word originate from a non-derogatory term. All latin based languages use the term nigra or negra as the specific identifier of dark skinned people. I don’t even think they have another commonly used term for this.

I am sure the more likely origin would be found in some backwoods southern town where they couldn’t pronounce “negro” as they were hanging people from trees.

My god I just discovered this thread. Some of X’s initial posts were pretty funny. Then this thread turned into a train wreck.

Firstly, to the nerds: if you spent a fraction of the time training harder that you do worrying about whether drinking cold water or taking cold showers or pouring water over you will help burn fat, you’d be lean already. Surely the effect of such protocols would be so minimal as to be almost negligible. You lose fat through dieting and exercising, nerds!

About the racial discussion: nigger, please! Racism needs intent to be racism. If the Prof. didn’t know that Inuit is now the politically correct term, he may be ignorant, but he’s not racist. As another example, if a 3 year old white kid calls a black person a nigger because they hear their parents use it, is the kid racist? No, just ignorant. No intent.

And as for comparing the word nigger and the word eskimo, they are not of the same order. Eskimo used to be the term used to refer to people we now call Inuit. ‘Nigger’ has never been the correct way to refer to black people, or African Americans, whatever the politically correct term is now. If you want to make a parallel, the word ‘Eskimo’ is more like the word ‘negro’.

And while negro is not the word we use these days, if someone used it, out of ignorance but with no malice and no negative connotations attached to it in their mind, they are not racist.

Why are there fat eskimos if this works?
You’re calling that fat? I thought that would be like, ripped – by your standards.

You’re calling this post even half way witty or even partially funny? It comes across as lame as shit, though it was probably hilarious…by your standards.

I wonder if the body would compensate by adding some fat layers as insulation - or is blubber an evolutionary adaptation and not one that can happen via stimuli? Anyone know the answer to this?
Basically, if you drink about a gallon of really cold water a day, you’ll burn about 200 calories. In men it took fat to raise the temp of cold water, in women it took carbs. Not overly complicated. It’s a nice extra trick along with diet and exercise but certainly not something to turn into a race issue.

I’m sure I don’t have to remind you that water does not instantly form to ice at 0 degrees. Latent heat of fusion anyone?

So, your plan is to catch the water just before it freezes and becomes ice and drink it down fast before it warms up more than a degree? Let us know how that turns out for you.

How much pleasure does it give you to put words in other people’s mouths?

In the interests of avoiding a pointless internet argument over a pretty silly topic:

1.) I’m going to drink water, because I get thirsty.
2.) It’s a fact that cold water takes more energy for your body to process than warm water, although it most likely is pretty slight.
3.) I like drinking cold water anyway.
4.) Since:
A. I prefer the taste of cold water.
B. It may burn more calories to consume.
5.) I try to make my water as cold as possible when I drink it.

Please feel free to tell me what is so ridiculous about that.
I guess that you must be cutting then.

aha! respect mate. lol. I like things being converted into a nice easy simple to understand paragraph

Yeah I did find it hilarious, quite frankly. All satire is based on truth. That’s what made it funny.

So now they are racist because they didn’t speak proper?

:o
