My gym is in Taipei, Taiwan. That branch that the video was filmed in with the escalators is pretty big…I think it may have looked a bit bigger in the video if you know what I mean.
There’s actually very little space to put a bar down. Many gyms are like that, if you want to put the bar on the floor for deads or whatnot you may be getting your ass in someone’s way. And the ceiling must be about only 8 feet high because I’m 6 feet and if I do an overhead press I may hit the sprinklers.

That’s right, it’s A California (a 24 Hour affiliate) here in Taipei.
You know, you never see Squat Rack Curls here. It took me a while to figure out why, then I realized it’s because you need to at least be curling 45lbs right? That really doesn’t happen much here.
Guys here love to do the EZ curl bar on the preacher bench. I wondered why I saw that every single time I’m in the gym and I realized it’s because the EZ curl bar is basically only for biceps (and skull crushers too) and the preacher is for biceps only, so the guys feel they are putting on bicep size just by being near the bloody thing. You don’t see a lot of DB curls because to some people’s mentality you could be using the DBs for anything pretty much, but the EZ curl and preacher are MADE for biceps! Ugh.
I got a lot of good videos this past week because it was Chinese New Year and I had the week off so I was going in the afternoons. I usually go in the morning, where I still see goofs, but not as many.

Yeah I’ve seen rows of seats facing the free weight DBs and every guy doing a bicep curl/hammer curl/concentration curl etc and of course a host of them using EZ bar as you say, again looking at the mirror. I’ve seen squats being done with just the bar or 5/10 lbs (stuff which a swiss ball against a wall and a plate would achieve!).

Yeah, I remember training in Beijing last summer and there was this one guy who was always there benching. He would ALWAYS bench. He’d come in, put on 20 kilos on each side of the bar and get to work. No matter what rep he was on, he’d grunt as if he was shitting out his intestines. My friend and I eventually nicknamed him grunter.
