So, after reading truth about six pack abs, huge in a hurry and this article: Full Body vs. Split Training
I’m pretty convinced that full body training is best for cutting. So how come everyone does split training? Is it better for body building?

Topic has been beaten to death.
Please refer to the “round table” article with CT and Chad Waterbury and Alwyn Cosgrove and see CT’s explanation.
Chad Waterbury doesn’t deal with competitive bodybuilders.
You can cut on both types of routines.

this both routines are effective in different situations.

This ist just my opinion from my own experience as someone who formally trained FBT for over a year in the past. FBT is great from taking you from noob to great strength and size foundation quickly. I wouldnt use it to cut, or past beginner/intermediate stage if aesthetics are the goal, gaining or cutting.

x3.
Both can work. The “best” lifting split will be influenced by your approach to cardio and nutrition.
I’d say frequency + nutrition is more important than BB vs total body split (which is really not that important)
Whatever happened to Cosgrove on T Nation, anyway? He was pretty hot there about 4-5 years ago. I think CW was active around then, too.
I know when I was dropping a lot of weight around that time, I incorporated a lot of ides that Thibaudeau, CW, and Cosgrove were throwing out there. And Don Alessi with that damned meltdown training. Holy Shit did that make me puke a few times.

I once vomited a post workout meal after a Cosgrove style “Afterburn” workout.

Oh, yes. Cosgrove and Alessi. Meltdown and Afterburn. Puke-o-rama.
This was about the time Tabata shit was real hot, too. I don’t think Crossfit had quite the traction it has now. People were just talking about it in the forums and an article here or there.
But, I distinctly remember people asking me what the Hell I was doing. I said “Google Christian Thibaudeau, Alwyn Cosgrove, and Don Alessi. Don’t eat before training.” This was also around the time of the physique workshops or whatever they were called when a couple dudes lost a ton of weight. I lost 70 lbs.
That’s good stuff.

Alwyn still posts articles and does Q&A’s on the Facebook.
Add him and they will come up in your feed.
I liked Alwyn’s stuff better when Ian King wrote it.

I admit that I’m not cool or smart enough to get that.

King says that he ripped off his stuff and sold it as his own.
Did a whole presentation to make his point, in fact.[/quote]
I actually noticed the overwhelming similarity between Get Buffed! and New Rules of Lifting before I know about the whole fiasco. I think the presentations were removed from Youtube.

I see. That’s bad juju.
While I certainly don’t condone plagiarism, that little bit of history didn’t make the training any less effective.
However, now I feel … dirty

You dirty whore…
I always thought it was a silly statement to contrast these “two” methods. All training overlaps some body parts. You could do a chest day, a shoulder day, a back day, and an arm day. But if you are benching on chest day, pressing on shoulder day and rowing on back day, you are hitting most of your upper body 3 or even 4 times a week.
All we are really discussing is degree of overlap between workouts. And I don’t think there is as big a difference as people think between “TBT” and “splits”. As long as you are doing enough work on a muscle to cause damage and recover enough before hitting it again, just train how you enjoy training.

Saw that…quite interesting.
Ian King Came and went on this site pretty quick. Wonder why that is/was?
