God, I want that lamb dinner…but I would vastly prefer you cooking it.
Excellent pressing! I remember way back when just a single at 135 was a big deal.

That is some serious flexibility and motor control to be able to squat with dumbbells like that! I don’t think I’d be able to stand mine up without trying to rip the bar apart with a snatch grip. Looking hot! I’m starving now… I would also prefer it if you would cook ![]()

This was the first thing that loaded and I had to re-read it a couple of times…lol
Everything looking right on track for the 5th, getting some anxious energy.
First, Mainy, very awesome stuff! Second, nice pix/vids. Third, you seriously need to write a cookbook.
Looks like the meet training is coming together nicely. How do you feel about it?
Also those OHS put the erect in erectors.
DAmn, your meet is right around the corner! So excited for you Mainy, can’t wait to hear your story about the whole experience!
I’m sorry, I watched the vids on teh first page, but I just couldn’t focus on the lift. Dat. Ass. You are workin it, Main! Good stuff on the lifts, and I can’t wait to hear about the meet. You’ll do awesome.
You do not need a five-second pause on the chest. Even USAPL, which is neurotic at times, does not require that. Bring the bar down, stop it, count one, then press. As long as the bar is stable on the chest, you’ll get the “Press” command.
Regarding training up to the meet . . . let’s see. I will DL up to my first and second attempts about 10 days out and squat up to my first and second attempts about six days out. I’ll try to take mellow walks a few days the week before the meet. Sometimes I do very light range of motion work for all the lifts about four days out. But my coach is not in favor of that.
kp, a 5 second pause is good for the judges we have here in QC.
I’ve waited what seemed like an eternity for a press command. Better to practice long and hope for short.

I fully agree with this.
But if the bar is stable and still, I’ve never seen a pause anywhere near that long. I’ve seen protracted pauses when the bar is seesawing on the chest, however.
quick late lunch break:
Brute - Meet is March 5th, regional and with the CPU. Not much choice out here. Same fed as Ouro and other canucks.
L.S - Thanks!
Kimba - I totally remember and now 135lbs is a sure thing. progress is cool like that.
Alex- wasn’t to bad actually those are only 15lbs each. The hardest was simply keeping the core straight.
LilP - trying not to go nuts, just telling myself this is my first one, go in enjoy and learn for the next. or die trying.
Greenies - my cookbook would be a compilation of the recipes I’ve pilfred and modified to my taste. but I’ll sleep on it.
Joe - funny ![]()
Ink - I’m afraid I will pass out and there won;t be anything to write but “Pass out. Frenchie Fail” lol.
Beast- I’m always bitching about my ass but as the hubbie says, those ass curves make me all woman. (I have no boobs), so I’ve learned to accept it as time goes on.
Snap - thanks for the info, I’ll try to work on a plan. Next week should be a lazy one then.
Diana- thanks for backing me up! pause working is just another way to add strength one way or another
Even if you had a “pass out/fail” experience (which you won’t, you’re going to dominate that shit) you’re very good with words, and would write up a novel all about it.

The pause has def added a challenge to my game.
For Bree:
Slow-roasted lamb shank with onions and potatoes
Ingredients
4 lamb shanks
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons brown sugar
allspice, ground
2 ounces olive oil
2 ounces butter
4 garlic cloves, just cracked
1 onion
3 sprigs rosemary (I sed a table spoon of dried stuff)
3 sprigs thyme (again I used dried)
a generous splash of Grand Marnier
vinegar
3 cups chicken stock
12 white mini-potatoes
Method
rub the shanks with some salt, brown sugar and allspice
Pick a roasting pan sized to comfortably accommodate all the shanks lying down. Add oil and butter. Brown meat on all sides. Remove. Brown onion and garlic, deglaze with the vinegar. Add Grand Marnier and broth. Place meat back in and add potatoes.
Turn the oven to 325F and add the rosemary and thyme and bake for 3 hours. Check every hour or so to see if liquid has evaporated. Add water if necessary.
Serves 4.
EDIT: SERVES ONE!!! SERVES ME
THANKS! …but shit…I need an oven… I am determined to find one. I MUST eat this!

5 count pause on the chest?! Shit that’s a long time. Nice benching and pics.
oooohhh…I was thinking it was a 5 count TO the chest… like bringing it down super slow like negatives style.

Yep, I know that’s the rules but both NL’s trainer and myself know that our judges like a nice, long pause, regardless of how stable and still the bar is. A girl from Montreal might have to have that bar sit on her chest long enough to make a phone call, while a girl from QC might get a press command the minute the bar glances off her pecs. Not saying there is any deliberate favouritism, though it really, really looks that way sometimes (almost 100% of the time).
I have some vids, somewhere. Keep that long pause NL, if you don’t need it this meet you for sure will in the future.
when do we get to see singlet pictures?!! did i miss them??

I love Dexter.
Carry on.
Oh, and yes, singlet pics are mandatory (but you already knew that)
