Cool stuff on the squats! One of my male floor supervisors who claims 6-8% bf said today “Squats are dangerous! I stopped doing them!” followed by “I can’t get my legs to Grow! It’s because I’m sooooo tall.” He’s like…6’1? 6’2? I thought to myself “Squats would help that…”
I’m sensing some of your frustration, frenchie.
However. Notes from the big boys- Tate doesn’t let his lifters back under a barbell for a month after a meet. Lots of high volume, lower weight stuff, slowly adding weight and losing reps.
so, get the fuck over yourself. it’s how you’re supposed to feel. you’ll be back to where you wanna be and farther in no time.
dog - yup 100% man.
alexus - hungry is good as far as I’m concerned ![]()
Greenies - I thought I was too tall to squat until I saw people in my PL gym, tall 6 feet people, sitting back and doing it well. now I have no excuse. damn it.
Cbear - you are finely tuned to the frenchie psyche my dear. I will listen to your advice and keep hitting volume and be happy to just be healthy and moving for the time being.
On a different note 2nd night of insomnia this week. This spring thing just might kill me. Currently downing a nice big glass of grand marnier in the hopes it will knock me out. I can’t believe my gym session didn’t do it.
fook.
So all that volume driving you apeshit?

probably related to the time of workout 5:30-7:30. My guess is these long evening sessions are screwing with my sleep pattern. Last night I wasn’t sleepy until almost 3am again. I’ll try to keep the workouts at an hour tops next week and see if it’s better.
Sorry to hear sleep is screwy. That bites.

In my experience lifting in the morning is horrible. My sweet spot seems to eb in the early afternoon but thats problematic for a lot of people.

I totally agree with this and I’m even a morning person! But i’m mentally awake in the am, not physically. And lately because I’ve been training up until 8:30, sometimes 9:30p and then having to consume a GIANT meal when I get home my sleep has been pretty shitty. Ah well. If only i could get in the gym in the afternoon like the old days…
Training is looking awesome Frenchie! Great numbers you’re putting up - nice volume ![]()

Maybe having that last meal be a big ass shake instead of solid food would help?

You’re going to bed just am I getting up to go workout. : ) When I worked out at night, I would be so wound up when I got home, that I would be up for hours. Maybe if you did shorten the amount of time you worked out, like you said, it would help. That was a killer workout you did - really strong numbers!

Catching up.
For the record: I do wall squats mostly for mobility reasons. They help my body get into the squatting groove. Coupled with the spiderman crawls my hips are loose as a goose when I get under the bar, which helps me stay tight and focus on the lift. I used to warm up my squats with static stretching and jumps and such. Wall squats and spidermans are for me. A changed woman. Thank God for coaches. The guy who turned me onto that stuff is awesome.
The kitty pic is priceless. Very adorable.
Man, it sounds like we are all training at night and having trouble sleeping! My work schedule is fucked up, but I train at night on the days that I work and afternoon on days that I don’t. I do my best lifting between 2 and 6 pm. Used to train in the morning, like 5:30 am! Not good. I was almost fully awake when I was finished.
Glad to hear that you are feeling good about your training. Volume FTW (for now…)

Good day at work, housework and groceries, check.
had to clock over 350km today. not very good after last night. I was fueled by caffeine but I still felt like a was sporting a pair of Magoo eyes. Just glad I got home in 1 piece.
PL gym tomorraw!
Awesome, glad you’re hitting the gym tomorrow.
I hope your sleep patterns adjust ;(
Oddly enough, I never had problems sleeping after a workout. During the summer, I worked out at night with my grandfather, got doe around 10-11, fell right asleep after my shower. Hmm.
I was just complaining about the volume in the current part of my training cycle, and then I saw yours…damn girl. Numbers look pretty darn good too. I might have to start keeping a log here to further encourage a little friendly competition.
You can put me on the list of people that have trouble sleeping when they’re supposed to. On the nights that I have class I don’t usually get home til after 8:30-9, then I have to eat dinner and try to get tired.
BG - I thought you had kept one in the past for some reason? I’m always inspired by what others put up and I don’t doubt you would bring it to the table. rawr!
homework - 2 dozen wall squats and surpise surprise I’m still not getting those fuckers. After throwing my broom in a rage hubbie came over to help. Never squated a day in his life and like boom, did a wall squat. I tried copying him down to the toes and seems that the major difference… wait for it… is the knee cave. something about how my knee is not alligned with my feet throws my balance out the window.
I just want to squat properly. whine whine whine.
I kept one long long ago. Before PW existed so I actually had to ask a mod to move it into PW when they made the subforum.
With the knee cave, I’m not sure what has or hasn’t been covered before, but are you focusing on spreading the floor and really pushing your knees out? How are your glutes? “activated”? Oh and feet, do you have fallen arches?
i can’t count the number of times i’ve thrown the stick on the ground in disgust. i do really empathize with squat difficulties, in particular.
can you push your knees out to the sides more?
(ducks in case something is thrown at her - sorry if you are trying but can’t)
can you maybe squat with the camera in a front on view and push your knees out to the sides as hard as you can?
i’m actually finding that around paralell (with a normal stance width) my knees want to go out wider than my ankles / toes. i’m not sure that this is okay… but i’m looking into it. i think it is okay… i’m wondering if that is how it will look for people with long femurs without heel raise when their knees can’t come in front of their toes…
