Frenchie's Killer Queen Log

I never quite got wall squats. I tend to either fall backwards or smash my face into the wall but I don’t have any trouble sitting back and keeping upright with a bar on my back. I’m not really sure what that means.

Does everyone around here do them?

Wall squats seem to be the new fad. We’ve talked about it in the Over 35 as well. I’m thinking they’re way helpful for wide-stance PL-style squats. After much thought, I’m not sure I understand if they are useful or even biomechanically possible for the stance most squatters – especially raw ones – assume. If so, I’d like to see a vid of someone successfully doing them with what I would refer to as a narrow stance.

The wall squats are my torture homework cause I’m not sitting back enough. I know Veggie does them regularly too.

That is one helluva leg workout Frenchie - Aweseome! I gotta step up my game girl.

Yeah, me too…you know, for form and stuff…:show me vids!:

I’m on my own tonight so I bought the essentials:

nice red wine
rotissary chicken with a bowl full of dippin sauce
hagen dazs dolce de leche ice cream.

These awesome calories are going straight to my legs.
now to choose a movie…

should I mention lunch was a slice of all dressed dirty street pizza?

“Squatzilla: The Revenge”

No, not a real movie, but would be awesome

Enjoy your night Frenchie, leave no strand of chicken left behind!

the slaughter is in process with the help of my 4-legged buddy.

You powerlifters and your meals make me sick :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry you forgot your mp3.
On leg obliteration days, it’s mind over matter anyway. Are you really listening to the music, or the sound of your heaving?

I would like to see that, too. I suspect it is only possible for people without long femur / short tibia proportions. aka: people who are natural born squatters.

There is a retired international level weightlifter at my gym who trains to be social sometimes. He had much trouble understanding my problem squatting. He air squatted Oly Style for me one day and managed to descend ATG with a narrow stance with an almost perfectly upright torso and his shins were almost perfectly vertical. His femurs don’t seem to be longer than his tibias. Freaky squatting levers, indeed. I’ll never be able to squat like that.

He simply didn’t understand the need for ankle dorsiflexion when Oly Lifting.

I think it means that you have more forward lean than you think. Forward lean isn’t meant to be a problem (so long as chest is up and back is set). Vids would show you. You could draw an imaginary wall in front of you and see whether you would hit it with your face / boobs.

I wonder if women also have a harder time with wall squats since our centre of gravity is in our hips (and the butt is supposed to go back) whereas guys centre of gravity is in their shoulders (which are upright over the midfoot in a wall squat). Guys also tend to have longer feet which means they set up further back away from the wall so a greater amount of forward lean is tolerated in the exercise. Guys also seem to have a smaller difference between their tibia / femur lengths whereas women often have longer femurs in relation to their tibias. Guys also have a smaller q angle (their pelvises are narrower) and… I’m not sure what differences there might be to the way the femur naturally rotates in the pelvis because of this).

(sorry for the rant. it is what came from three months of ‘why can’t i frigging do it right???!!!’)

Just yum. You do know how to eat Frenchie.

What a good kitty, helping eat all that terrible food.

All that awesome food fueled me for another 2 hour extravaganza. I’m thinking this is my body’s way of dealing with the springiness of spring.

Bench:
warm up bar x 12
90x5
105x5
120x5 - tried for 6 but no go. Nice guy helped me from under the bar. I should have been able to do more reps but I was not on my usual bench and this one is slippery plastic and I couldn’t keep my arch properly.

Millies: not sure when I could do these this week so I doubled them with the bench
50x5
60x5
70x8

Dips: 4x5 - how low the mighty have fallen. I was repping with weights a while back. fuck.

Chins with 2 bands 4x5 - these were also sloppy as hell…got shakey at this point.

DB rows 50 3x8 -used my grip wraps for the first time.

DB bench 35 3x8

Skullcrushers 35 3x8

Facepulls 35 3x12

Zerchers bar 6x8 - to get the blood flowing in my still-toasted legs.

Left the gym with a crazy pump in the arms. gotta love it!

use-it-or-lose-it is so true

gotta love the crazy pump and toasted legs!

nice lifting and delicious looking food as always. i always feel hungry visiting your log.
