Oh, Joe. You are a funny one. No, it’s not a requirement that men go shirtless during DL, but some opt out of wearing 'em to show off their wares. And I much appreciate that. Now women, on the other hand, are required to wear shirts during DL. My coach always says that he sees that little rule as extremely discriminatory and has asked me on more than one occasion to bring it up with the powers that be.

Aywho I screwed up. Thought I was babysitting yesterday turns out it was today d’oh! So friday turned into an impromptu fresh pizza from my local greek dude who makes the best large pizzas from scratch right in front of you with exactly what you want for 10$. And a little wine and some Lord of The Rings PC gaming. I’m a fighter/champion elf. I’m sure you are all surprised.

I was planning on doing my 135 3x6 or even 8 but I NEVER hit PRs on saturday. Something about my relaxed and grooving state of mind. All of these are flat footed and unracked on my own. So overall I’m cool with them.

155 1x1 - most I’ve done since this new wave of rehab.

Facepulls with short pause at contraction 35 3x12
superset with
Barbell front raise 30 3x8.
Glute hamstring raise 3x12 - trying to hold contraction on the way down AND up which is new for me. Getting stronger slowly on these.
Someone mentionned that I should bench with my thumbs inside to prevent them from breaking if the bar ever rolls. I had instances of being pinned but never lost full control of my bar. What’s the consensus on this? Obviously I’ll take up the subject with the PL buddies and watch how they place their hands and thumbs.
False grip? That’s kinda dangerous, especially for shirted benchers. I haven’t heard of broken thumbs before??
Excellent benching! And LotR? Not really surprised. I’m a huge gamer. I played Ultima Online for 7 years but stick with single player games now. MMOs are like having a second job.
Hitting the gym was the right thing to do. Nice hard work there.
Its kind of weird that you never hit PRs on Saturdays. That isn’t my experience at all, but two of my three lifting days are on the weekends (Fri. nite and Sunday) so that would suck for me if true.
nice squats - how did they feel to you.
bench is also coming along. about the false grip, some big lifters swear by it but to risk the bar rolling out of your palm without the thumb gripping the bar seems to me to be a higher risk than injuring your thumb. If that bar rolls out of your hand and crashes on your rib cage without that bit resistance provided by your thumb, you might think punctured lung…
Lil power and soldog - you said exactly what was on my mind. And your benches are massive compared to me. I’ll just chalk it up to some guy wanting to give me pointers on a perfect bench setup ![]()
As for the squats I’m starting to feel the groove. I’m way slower going down but much more control and strenth in my lower body overall.
Cal - although its online I never play with a party. I’m always a lonesome ranger. I’m not a very good player and that tends to infuriate others. I just go at my own slow pace.
Kimba - I channel my PR through focused aggression mostly. Also I lift around 5-6pm so saturday afternoons are usually very mellow. Good for taking my time to set up the camera and really focusing on form but never for the PRs.
I just came back from babysitting and I won’t be able to sleep for a while. My little brother came home from his office party totally drunk, with massively ripped pants in the crotch, a pimp santa hat and having emptied a full bottle of wine all over the inside of the car… which will reek for weeks to come. And being a man, and drunk, he couldn’t “sorry. I fucked up”. The wife, who was driving therefor dead sober was not pleased. I scamped away as fast as I could. Sometimes you just want to shake people. Shit. But he’s 30 so I suppose if he hasn’t learnt by now the idiot never will. You’d think with our parents he’d see the light or something. I don’t know. Big sister must learn that little brother will make his own life path whether I like it or not.

Alex - I’ve been working on those for months. I couldn’t do them either but worked on the negative part for a long while to get those working.
Print- some guy had asked to work in my 135 sets and I said sure. I forgot as I was chatting and setting up the camera that I had already pressed record. So that’s the frenchie accent.
Tim - I’m rather funny jointed at the knees. I have a natural “duck” stance and pointing my feet straight naurally brings my knees together without any weight on the shoulders… I tried and it wasn’t pretty.

Bench looks good, that bench may be a little shorter than a competition bench, so once you develop your leg drive it may be hard to keep the bum on the bench.
Squats - you should get some flat soled shoes, chucks-come in really cool colors ; )
Can you get vid of your pick out of the rack? You want to be sure to be under the bar and lifting with your hips…I couldn’t tell by the video if you were lifting out with your back or knees.
On the first couple of vids, your head is all over the place, looking down, then out and finally head back into the bar (that’s good)…you’ll get used to placing your feet without looking down after a while.

lilP - chucks for the win. I was squatting barefoot for a while but as a I need to push out with my legs the socks against the carpet was making it slippery. I’ll look into the chucks for sure.
just to be clear, my head needs to be looking forward and slightly up as soon as the bar is across my back and continuously through the lift?
