Free Testosterone Level Too High? 125 ng/dl

On test C 2x50mg per wk for last 3 mos. My total T was 1380 a few mos ago(at a higher dose) so been trying to lower it a bit to high normal. I did Everlywell saliva test and the realized it measures free testosterone. 125 ng/dl is my number. Should I be concerned? Thx all. I need to find a better testosterone lab

That’s low, for me.

I’m skeptical of saliva tests. Lots of things can affect there accuracy during administration of the test. Other than user error though I don’t see an issue. Did you get your units right?.. ng/dl?

Yeah. They report in pg/ml. I believe u just divide by 10 for ng/dl.

I was only asking because the number was very high. Correct on the unit conversion. I’m not buying it’s accuracy. That’s way too high on your dose.

Ok. Yeah appreciate the feedback. One reply indicated that was low (for him)…lol. Goal is high normal…maybe I’ll cut to 40mgX2/wk. Thx

I think @swoops39 didn’t pay attention to your units, which is why I asked too.

You are correct, i missed that. But with the screenshot he posted there’s no way that’s FT, is it? Are saliva concentrations higher than serum maybe?

Sorry if i´m hijacking your thread. But free T range in my lab is from 8 to 54 pg/ml.
Does this make any sense? My free T is 23 pg/ml = 2,3ng/dl (no TRT).

Either different values may appear depending on the labs method or this gets super confusing to understand what free T we really have and should aim for. Perhaps even for doctor to correctly analyse.

In my case it is telling the doctors i´m not hypogonadal eventhough my Total T is always 300 ±30 ng/dl which is in the lowest of the range and doesn´t raise too much questions. Also, with total T it seems to match with other labs ranges.
But not with free T.

Again, sorry if i am using your topic. Thanks.

This is the reason why many doctors ignore measuring Free T directly and why the Endocrine Society recommends using the Tru-T calculator using both Total T and SHBG to get the Free T result.

No worries. It’s confusing but it should be straightforward number wise. Everlywell cites 49 to 185 pg/ml as normal. My number was supposedly 1250. Just seems high for 100mg per wk. Youf free T seems low. I even emailed their support to clarify and all was confirmed correct. I’ll be going back to a lab that provides better info.

Thanks Greyner and SL.

Well, in that case i´ll stick to the Tru-T calculator (FDA approved so it seems). With that approach in mind my “real” free T is 10.51ng/dL. What´s the Free T range that we should consider while using the Tru-T calculator ? And what could be an acceptable free T figure? 20ng/dl ?

Ok, so based on the number you mentioned,
10.51 ng/dl, that’s low mid range. So pretty much "normal " according to the ranges I’ve seen. I think it’s best to take a test that measures total, free, and estradial. Good luck.

I believe the Tru-T refence ranges starts at 16 ng/dL, Madman over at Excel male is the information geek over there and therefore he would know the full ranges.

I see a lot of men complaining of symptoms in the 10-12 ng/dL ranges on these forums.

My lab ranges are 8 to 54 pg/ml. And in that test the result was 23pg/ml.
Using the Tru-T calculator is 10,51ng/ml. And you say it´s low-mid.

It seems it is low-mid range in both cases even if the ranges are completely different !!

It seems my body is making good using of my naturally Low total T of 300ng/dl.

Estradiol is 32.

Anyway. I´m clarified about it.

Which is a bit above my levels. And that explains why I have times where I feel “OK to good” and others where I feel like crap.
And also, that explains why I never feel amazing. But that feeling still lies in my memories and sometimes I can have great vivid/lucid memories that I almost can feel the way I felt in my prime for a frame of a second…the way I felt passionate about whatever things, for new targets and ready to embrace challenges. And that comparison makes me realize i´m past that time and naturally it´s impossible to recover.

Anything below my current labs and I feel OFF most of the time. The worse is that in such “lows” it affects my personality, my “presence/attitude” as a father and my productivity in my work. I feel sooo sleepy between 16 and 18 in the afternoon too. I can´t explain better, it just messes me up and perhaps this describes most of us aged 40+ symptoms.

Right now i´m cool until it comes again !
