No, I do not believe it’s unbiased.

The post you quoted didn’t cite Mediamatters. The study was conducted by a university.

In fact, I haven’t cited Mediamatters at all. I did link to a video that happened only to exist on Mediamatters, but it was the video and not its host website that I was referencing. It was an unedited clip of Sean Hannity publishing a string of wildly inaccurate claims on Fox’s airwaves. It was apropos of this thread and, more importantly, no one in this thread has mentioned it or addressed it since I posted it–because, you know, Fox is so great and all.

By the way, Fox is not “one of the most professionally produced networks in the world.” It is mired in scandal after scandal of it own doing. Take, as a small example, the run-up to the election: FNC told its viewers not that the the race would be close, not that it was too close to call, not that Romney would win in a photo-finish–they pretended Romney was headed for a landslide, which flew in the face of almost every poll. And then Rove had a tantrum in font of the entire world.

Say what you want about Fox’s competitors. No cable news channel is good in my opinion. But, since they’re all online now and that’s where the competition is heating up anyway, Fox is really competing with everybody. And the thing about the New York Times, the WP, the Economist? Nate Silver may have been rooting for one guy or another, but if his model had predicted a Romney win, he’d have said so.

You’ve got Fox’s WHPC saying that they overdid Libya. You’ve got the (very unsurprising) Woodward report on Ailes’ attempted kingmaking (by the way, do you know what would happen if Jill Abramson were clandestinely recorded while trying to recruit a Democrat to run for office, promising Sulzberger would bankroll it and the NYT would be “your in-house”? She’d resign or be fired within 24 hours).

Some people have said, “but NBC edited the Martin tape!” A bit of a non sequitur in a thread about Fox, but at least they are correct. But NOBODY in their right mind is going to come in here and claim that Fox is fantastic.

Fox sponsors are again under attack. What ever happened to… what was that phrase… liberals would always say about censorship… oh yeah “IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT CHANGE THE CHANNEL!”

Liberals are hypocrites in every way. They profess to be the real PATRIOTS then proceed to dismantle the things that make every IMMIGRANT want to break their back to get into America. As I said before they wish to take away huge sums of money from the rich but not ask them why they are so successful. Perhaps use their answers as the model for running the country. No they would never do that because they know what they want to do. They wish to bankrupt it and break it apart as happened to that other country… what was the name of it?? Oh yeah the U.S.S.R.

Is this so horribly difficult to follow? If you want the end goal of the current government to give us CHANGE then by all means gets rid of FOX NEWS NETWORK and all opinions that disagree with the current government. Allow the Rachel Maddows, Anderson Coopers, Al Sharptons, Micael Moores and Keith Obermanns of the world mold what you are allowed to hear.

I wish. I’ve read a few of the Harvard classics but nothing like a majority of them. If someone were to sit down and read and understand every book on of those 100-book lists of essential Western books, it would probably be worth more than a graduate degree.

The only thing that was clear was that it was going to be a relatively close one.

I personally moved back and forth as election day neared. I ended up officially predicting a close Romney win, operating on the logic that the polls were consistently overestimating Democratic turnout. That is perfectly legitimate. But to look at poll averages that unequivocally predicted an Obama electoral college victory and then conclude that it was a “shock” when said victory came to pass is bad analysis.

Again: Nate Silver may have been rooting for Obama, but if the polls had predicted a Romney win he’d have said so rather than confusing his partisan wet-dream with reality. And more importantly: if Jill Abramson had done what Ailes did re: Patraeus but with, say, Hillary Clinton, she’d have resigned or been forced out within a day.
