The new Gillette Clinical Strength anti-perspirant does work. I bought some about two weeks ago.
I’ve noticed that a few brands have come out with ‘clinical strength’ type of products.
However, when looking at their sole active ingredient, the percentage is the same as the product I’ve been using for a couple years (Arrid Extra Extra Dry Maximum Strength). I can’t imagine that the new products would then work any better, if the active ingredient is identical?
On a completely different note, I’ve heard that Botox injections into the armpit almost completely eliminates sweating from that area. However, the body compensates by sweating more from other areas. Doesn’t sound all that viable to me.

Before recently I had just been using Degree. I never tried Arrid.
The active ingredient in the Gillette product is “aluminum zirconium trichlorohydrex Gly 20% (anhydrous)”.
I keep my arm-pits “trimmed”… using the trimmer part of my electronic shaver. I find this helps somewhat. I think it’s common sense that the more hair you have jammed under your arm, the more heat is trapped in your arm pit. Perhaps this logical thinking is wrong, I do not know for certain.
Also, when I’m in the gym, It reallllllllly helps me to have a sleeveless shirt where the sides of my body are somewhat exposed too. The air can really get in there and keep things cool, and even if I sweat, the sweat just trickles down and I don’t get big pit stains like I pretty much always do. Having that area cool, keeps my relative body temperature at a more comfortable level even while training hard, and thus not sweating as much.
A side note: I use Old spice high endurance deodorant stick(no antiperspirants). I heard that the “metals” or whatever that go into antiperspirants is not good for you… which is the active ingredient that Prof X mentioned, aluminum zirconium trichlorohydrex, which is listed in pretty much all antiperspirant deodorant sticks.
i remember mentioning something like this to X like a year ago hahah.
anyway, i am constantly sweating. everyone sort of expects it from me now. i had to move furniture over the summer… and it was literally like i had swam in a pool i was so wet, and everyone else was maybe a little damp.
thats not really that bad i guess, but thats not the last of it.
i easily sweat in my arms, it could be 5 degrees, and i could be cold as shit, but my underarms will still sweat. i recently (about 6mo ago) got some Drysol from the doc. I have tried applying it during the day, but that does not work. Only apply at night, and for few at a time. I normally do 2-3 nights on, 2-3 off. It works pretty well, or at least enough not to allow it to come to my outer layers.
i too always wear cotton undershirts. i do it b/c of the sweat and because my bulk makes me self concious sometimes. this works, except before i still sweat through. and it leaves my pits on my shirts yellow-THAT is why i have completely shaven my underarms. it rids me of all the bacteria that is in my underarms.
i sweat more than normal, just a walk to class will get me sweating to the point i worry about SwAss marks on my khakis. i havent found a real fix to that.
2 quick questions:
doesnt the compression shirt get uncomfortable, im not a big fan of tight shirts, and wont it also make you hotter? im thinking of looking into this dependent on your response.
does anyone know if i can use just a deodorant during the use of the drysol? i ask this because occasionally when the drysol is not working so well, i tend to get stinky or when im at the gym and i am trying to figure a way to fix

The evaporation of sweat makes you cooler, not hotter. the idea is that the sweat leaves your skin faster leaving you drier and cooler. As far as how comfortable they are, if you get one too small, I would imagine they aren’t. I wear a 3X in their compression gear. I wouldn’t be able to breath in a smaller one.

Guess their are more human waterfalls out there then I thought. I’m in the camp that sweats thinking about sweating.
The underarmor sounds interesting, but do you guys do anything for palm, back, lower body, forehead sweat? Right now I got Mitchum and Certain Dri for the underarms, but I can’t exactly put it all over my body.
And any little bit of stress and I’m soaked. If I’m late to class, even a bit, I’m pouring when i get there. Temperature changes, like from walking outside in the cold to coming inside to a warm room owns me too. Its like my body overcompensates or takes to long to adapt to anything.
Have you guys noticed it has gotten worse as you’ve gotten bigger? I swear I sweat more now that I’m 20 lbs. heavier than I used to be. It would make sense for extra bodyfat to make one sweat more, but I’ve never been crazy lean to compare the difference.
Their tactical gear was made for military or police. Both groups use v-neck under some uniforms.
Perfect, looks like they make 2 styles. I get a 20% discount at the local military supply store and I hear they just started to carry the full line of UA.
I tend to sweat a lot and it is pretty embarrassing sometimes.I wear an extra pair of shorts between my boxers and jeans to try to combat the dreaded ass sweat.
I think once summer rolls around again I’ll buy some underarmor that actually fits now.
You guys would say that slightly looser stuff is better? Does this actually stop my pits/chest/back from looking like i jumped in a pool?
certain dri works, but it sometimes gets really, really itchy. It also wont help you if you sweat all over, which I do. After using it for a week or so it almost completly eliminated any under my arms, yet it probably wouldn’t be a good idea to coat this on my entire body so no deodorant will really help that.

Anyone have any idea why some sweat so much? Genetics? Roid Rage? (jk)
Some folks suffer from hyperhydrosis. Just the thought of sweating can make you start sweating. I know a person who has this, and they wear black all the time, shy away from any situation that might require them to hold hands with anyone.
Dri-Sol works well as temporary relief, but it has to be covered (wearing latex gloves, or wrapping your pits in saran wrap for 4 hours after application) to allow the chemical to penetrate the skin.
The botox injections are another temporary stop. They have surgery where they sever the nerves to the sweat glands, but this can cause you to sweat even more profusely in other areas.
i used to think the sweating thing was all in a person’s head. I was wrong.

I was known as the guy who would never sweat until I added a bit of muscle, now I sweat more than average. Not quite as much as you all have described, but definitely more than average.
just wanted to say i picked up some compression heat ggear from UA and that i am extremely happy with it. I have not been sweating through, and it does feel better than cotton shirts. it does help with my gyno too like mentioned earlier…
