haaaaaa

just cause i like Gucci Mane doesn’t mean i don’t like other stuff too.

besides its hard not to like ANYTHING over 9th Wonder

i think it’s kinda funny how that song and The Pain are on the same album as they’re essentially contradicting each other.

i like some Little Brother too

Good tracks, especially the Little Brother one with Kanye. The beat on that is amazing, any idea who produced it? I’d normally assume it was Kanye but it sounds a bit different than what he normally does…

Edit: nm it’s a 9th wonder beat, makes sense.

A somewhat recent (by internet age standards) song by Kid Cudi, “Call Me Moon Man”:

I’m not a Kid Cudi fan (although Day ‘n’ Nite was nice and the Crookers remix was great, the stuff I’ve heard from two of his mixtapes don’t really impress me much), but since this thread started with a link to a Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, I figured it’d be appropriate to put this up for discussion.

Does anybody feel like this guy’s a bit one-dimensional and not really deserving of the hype he’s getting. All I really hear is some good/decent beats, and a guy who barely manages to do the beat justice. He sort’ve does something unique with his flow, it’s quite and somewhat nimble but otherwise he’s really boring.

I say this because when I first read the thread I was gonna post about Del and mention how if he hadn’t already had a pretty long career and was just starting with his Both Sides of the Brain material he would’ve had that online hype that Charles Hamilton and Kid Cudi are getting now. Hearing this song reminded me of that.

I know he gets a boost from the Kanye association and all, but I really think a lot of his appeal is just from his choice of production. It sort’ve makes him seem outside of the mainstream and edgy for choosing those beats, but I really can’t see this guy making a good album. He’s not clever or funny, and he really has nothing to talk about.

Ignore the retarded video.

CCJDilla, cool that you noticed the production on the Murs. I guess you’re a producer, since you’re a Dilla fan? :). [/quote]

Hehe, I TRY to produce, unfortunately, I’ve never really made a song I’m satsified with showing people :stuck_out_tongue:

but, for your previous comment G87, I could not agree anymore, presentation has shown itself as far more valuable then talent itself (even in cases of production too ie: Dilla :P)

Which is why many consider hip-hop is dead, and, specifically Mainstream artists because they most work with what they consider “fake”.

One of the songs that make me really sad, well moreover the music video is: Elzhi - That's That One - Music Video - YouTube That’s The One - Elzhi

I think this music video in my opinion portrays that Hip-Hop is really just fucked up and there’s nothing in reality, to do.

Wow, this is the first song that I preferred live, simply because Elzhi soloed it (Motown 25): Elzhi - "Motown 25" + "Thats That One" [Live] - YouTube

9th Wonder is meh, I really loved Little Brother’s The Listening, guys, seriously buy it or atleast listen to the entire The Way You Do It: - YouTube
Really relaxing in my opinion.

And I was almost glad that 9th left LB, but, I’ve been hoping that LB would get their productions out of their regular scope (Khrysis specifically, I hear TOO many songs he produced).

lol yeah, sometimes I ignore what the rappers say at the beginnings and ends of tracks. It took me until the 5th time to notice that haha.

CCJDilla, What do you use to produce? Just curious since I’m sort’ve getting intrigued by production as of recently…

I guess I’m the odd one out here, I actually think this decade has been very good for hip hop :). Maybe you could go into what you despise about the turn hip hop has taken? Not calling you out or anything, just curious. A lot of the points you mentioned were problems as far back as the early 90s IMO.

BTW not relating to previous posts, but though this might be a list some would enjoy reading (or picking apart? your choice :D):

I never said that hip-hop was dead, I said that many consider it as dead, there are various great and bad artists regardless, it’s just certain rappers can’t stand to share the limelight with one who do not have nearly as much lyrical power as them (cough Lil’ Wayne).

The whole world is fucked up, and, even though this is irrelevant, I truly believe that humans should not have extended this far (in terms of technology), because, it is not natural, this is not normal, but, relatively it is normal.

The reason I’ve mentioned this is because I believe it’s wrong, however, just because it’s wrong, doesn’t mean I do not like it, heck, I can’t imagine living in the wild for that matter.

There are two clear concise differences, and, assuming that they are interchangable is very very wrong.

I switch between Ableton and Fruityloops, I want to use Garageband, because my friend makes amazing beats in 2 minutes with that thing and it imports beats easy as hell, but, I’m a faithful Microsoft User >.< don’t have any consoles so forced to play PC and it’s not worth getting Mac just for Garageband :stuck_out_tongue:

Good producers to checkout: J-Dilla, BlackMilk, Madlib, BR Gunna (Just checkout Slum Village), Symbolyc One, M-Phazes etc. etc.
