In my house its over 21… I am law in my house. I understand that a male brain is not even fully developed at 21.
Actually the male brain is only fully developed at say 25 give or take a few years. That being said the vast majority of brain development is completed by age 18, hence the laws being 18 here. That being said it is likely considerably safer to start at 21 than it is to start at 18 (studies show risk of marijuana induced psychosis increase significantly if people start using before the age of 17). The trick is to get you’re kids to wait until 21. To expect a child to wait until they’re 21 before they consume their first alcoholic beverage etc is an unrealistic expectation. The best way to go about it is to teach responsibility. I was scared shitless about marijuana as a child, I was fed all sorts of propaganda (not by my parents mind you, by other individuals) and it didn’t take long for me to weed out the bullshit from the facts, the result was me developing a distrust towards what adults told me.
Rarely, but on occasions I even drank beer and/or a glass of wine when I was as young as 12, the end result was an unreal24278 that can handle himself far better than other individuals his age when it comes to these types of substances. (I know where my limits are. Many kids who go straight into drinking without being taught responsibility end up with alcohol poisoning)
I agree. Man you are an old soul.
What, I’m not old? That’s mildly hurtful.
I did this too. Even took a puff of a cigarette at A young age and hated it.
I had a discussion with the lady that draws my bloods her son is an alcoholic. She regrets having her son start drinking in the house at an early age. She swears that’s why he’s an alcoholic. He is low 30s and still living at home.
There a fine line teaching responsibility and giving a parents seal of approval on something like alcohol or drugs.
I love this topic because I am interested what works best psychologically. Hey you know your kids going to have sex. So heck give your child condoms and have then use your bedroom. We need to be careful.
Maybe it’s best 0 tolerance at home with alcohol but you know they will have some when they go out. But if you make them think it’s acceptable at home they may drink more going out. You can still teach responsibly.
All I know is that a lot of my kids friends are vaping and I’m 99% sure they do not. I brainwash them since age of 12 watching YouTube videos showing them the bad affects. Also herion is a problem where I live. I’ve shown then stories how 2 brothers both near age 20 died when 2 years each other. This worked for my kids.
Good point, however I do find its a good idea for kids to be open and honest with their parents (while some things are difficult, if not impossible to be honest about, it tends to end up better in the long run). The kids I know who have very strict, conservative parents are some of the naughtiest kids I know. Btw there’s a difference between seal of approval and knowing what you’re kid is up to. Knowing isn’t a seal of approval in my opinion, esp if said kid knows you don’t approve. While there are some things that obviously need to be stopped (if you’re kid is a bully, stealing, lying or hurting others, hard drug use etc) I find its best to be honest and open about certain topics (drugs, alcohol, sex, relationships) that kind of stuff
Parenting is a very complex, difficult task that must be tailored individually to a child’s needs, it’s very difficult to interpret what’s right and wrong in the world of parenting, and what is and isn’t irresponsible to do is very dependent on the child.
Could you imagine raising a child like me while still managing to maintain a good relationship with him.
True. They go to expensive private schools.
Am Lucky my kids feel comfortable telling me everything… sometimes too much. Lol. We have to listen. I tell them you will not get in trouble if you tell me the truth. I have theyre back either way.
Plus my friend. We lead by example. If Daddy is smoking with his buds in the basement every week getting hammered…That is a huge seal of approval.
They caught me vaping at a block party and they still bring it up to me… As minor as this is.
Brainwashing isn’t a particularly good idea, they’ll probably figure it out eventually (I know I figured it out when I was like 12). Everyone makes mistakes, we aren’t perfect, thus I don’t expect.my parents to be flawless individuals
The reason you’re kids should be deterred from vaping is because
- there’s NO benefit in vaping
- it’s bad for you (firstly inhaling synthetic, potentially carcinogenic chemicals into one’s lungs, secondly nicotine
- people tend to look like poseurs when doing it, esp kids, why vape unless you’re trying to quit cigarettes
Idk about that, just because my parents do something doesn’t mean I think it’s automatically okay for me to do something (though at the age I’m currently at there isn’t much I can be stopped from doing). However age plays an important role, if I was 13 and saw my father drunk I’d see it as an “oh, well he’s doing it thus it must be acceptable”. But at age 18 I don’t exactly think the same way anymore. Granted I don’t think getting drunk is unnaceptable, so long as it’s on rare occasions and you aren’t intoxicated to the extent that you can’t handle yourself.
It’s good you listen to you’re kids, you sound like a good parent.
Hey man. While I got your attention. I was giving Creon digestive enzymes. Contains lipase among 2 other enzymes.
Being I will be breaking down fats better do you think this will cause an increase in let’s say triglyceride levels? Or does it have the opposite affect?
@physioLojik
@unreal24278
I used this word as a figure of speech. I really meant to say teaching and educate.
Depends, do you have pancreatitis? Why are you on Creon (just curious). Anyway it depends how much fat you eat. Some fat is nessecary for optimal trigs. Hence fish oil/krill oil decreasing triglycerides.
Unless you’re diet is super terrible it shouldn’t have too much of a dramatic effect, if anything trigs should improve if you eat healthily. Granted I’m no expert on this, Dr Sir is probs the better person to ask
Gave for indigestion. Bloat. He suspects possible pancreatic insufficiency but he will soon realize I am not. Did still pancreatic elastase test and checked lipase and amylase in serum. Which I already saw results all is fine.
I am really staring to thing my bloat is e2 related. But am confused because I get the bloat when I eat just about anything.
I think I retain some water when e2 is a bit high and when I eat it my belly blows up? Not sure.
Will do endoscopy and see what dr says. Dr is doing his job and investigating for disease. Even did a full abdominal and pelvic cat scan. All organs fine.
I need to stop fluctuating my dose.
My triglycerides are already slightly elevated. Have always been. According to my research the free omega 3s do not need lipase to break down.
@charlie12 does the bloat go down between meals? Do you belch a lot after meals ?
No does not go down. Sometimes I notice in the morning it’s down. If I fast for let’s say 18 hours it will go down as well. @physioLojik
Belch I would say average. I feel I belch and fart more now on creon. Like this morning alot of farts and did not eat yet
Why I think it’s water. When my weight goes down a few pounds ( could happen over a day or 2) I can suck in my belly and I appear much less bloated.
Does e2 cause gas when I eat? Sometimes I look in the mirror at night I look 9 months pregnant. Belly full of gas I think . Hard.
Thx doc for responding. Any point in continuing Creon? I started that a week ago.
Also poop much lighter in color since starting Creon . Like a tan.
@charlie12 wondering if you are low in HCL. Creon makes a good product but it is fairly strong and unnecessary for most people. Designs for health or innate response makes a great enzyme as well OTC.
@physioLojik - Hey, man. So I decided to try things your way and my recent bloodwork came back with oestrogen over 400! (top end of range was 160).
You really don’t think this is fucking me up somehow? What about all the shit like oestrogen binding to androgen receptors or whatever?
EDIT: should probably add I don’t feel like I have any real symptoms to speak of
I guess an endoscopy can check pH of stomach and determine? I’ve tried hcl in past. Forgot my reaction. May try again. But may wait for Endoscopy.
I rarely have heart burn or acid reflux BTW.
Would exogenous digestive enzymes slow my own production?
@Yogi1 what’s your test dosage
at this time it was 300mg/week of test E.
I was about 6 weeks out of a cycle where I had been running 600mg test and 600mg EQ, if that matters.
EDIT: I don’t have bloodwork numbers from when I was on the heavier cycle
Totally matters @Yogi1. An estrogen of 400 on a t of 300mg a week would be strange.
In regards to estrogen affinity to AR. When you run testosterone you increase the amount of androgen receptors. Estrogen doesn’t bind preferentially over test. Assuming you have high test and moderately High e you’re fine.
